Thank you for sharing your point of view Sakuratei
i dont have HeroicDC, mine is just normal DC.. as i read backwards haste > crit that is why im thinking HWT wouldnt be that bad because i have seen frost dk using dbw + hwt pulling top 5 dps but they are str gemmed tho.
so normal dbw+dc > normal dbw+hwt can i assume that?
You aren't wrong, but I don't think asking for additional fun-yet-DPS-increasing abilities is necessarily the right way to fix the problem. Frost, for instance, has quite a few more passive core DPS talents (that don't affect gameplay at all aside from bigger numbers) than Ret. But that's essentially meaningless. What matters is whether playing Frost is fun, not whether putting points in Frost talents is fun. And it's already quite complex. I don't think there's a lot of room to add additional procs and such.
The key difference I notice between the two trees, however, is that Ret requires quite a few non-core-DPS talents to advance (Selfless Healer, Repentance, Rebuke and such), while Frost only requires two, one of which is a prerequisite for HB anyway. That's probably much of the source of the feeling that Ret talents are more fun, and a good place to start adding 'fun' to DK trees without adding way too much complexity to the basic gameplay.
One of my questions is when should you start gemming arm pen like a soft cap of 800 off your gear?
It honestly completely depends, there's not a hard and fast rule. A big factor is how many gems your gear has in it and what your current ArP is from gear (not counting gems). The spreadsheet will give you a far better and more detailed answer than any of us probably could.
Im new to Macro's and have never used them for anything apart from using trinkets and CD's. (obv if they share same CD)
I normaly just finger / mouse key press in a memorised Rotaion, which i alter due to mana levels or having to move etc...
JoW / CS / CoN / DS / Ex / HW and spaming DS when 2 set T10 procs.
Though I have some Nice gear and my DPS is one of the highest in my guild. Normaly top of recount or close to it "fight depending" about 13.5k - 14k DPS on Feater-Gut 25 man Normal.
I have been speaking with some of my friends and they believe Macro's could increase my DPS.
I have searched for Macro's on the web but i when i find one it make no sense to me I use the ones I find but to me it seems to always have something off CD that i could use but Macro's are still on CD.
Can someone please HELP!!
1) How Many Macro's should a Retri Pala Use?
2) Of the hundreds to chose from which Macro's to use?
3) Or are my friends talking Rubbish and should stick to what i am doing?
Thanks in Advance.
P.S if this has been covered then please link me Thanks
i am trying to help my friend with his ms warrior for our 2s team and i dont know what gems to have him use with my pally i go strength stam and resil stam. i keep getting different answers including armor pen.
Hi guys, I'm reading with a lot of interest all the threads about the retribution paladin and other specs.
I wanted to check something about dps figures for the 2.4.3 version of the game. Does anyone still have the spreadsheet related to this ? (The link on the proper topic isn't up any longer.)
Don't use the Talents Optimizer... EVER. It only selects talents which it thinks has value, which does not include anything that provides raid utility or things that provide no DPS under your *exact current* settings. As an alternative, set up a couple of cookie cutter specs you want to try and use 'Talent Specs' in your optimize, which lets it select between full builds, instead of individual talents (it's also a lot faster due to many many fewer permutations to check).
kk - thanks - On the other hand, it did have some interesting suggestions. I am putting a few more points into BM from MM on my overall spec. Will test it out in ICC 10 tonight.
How much ArP do I need to have before I switch from str gems to ArP gems? If I gemmed right now I'd have 1200 with the arp food buff. Is that enough or do I need to be capped for it to be worth it?
All you really need is about 1120 minimum, but honestly at this point with 4.0 on the PTRs and background downloader being available on live, I would just stick with str gemming because all of your arp gems will turn into crit gems. I mean if you have just tons of gold that you feel like wasting, then go ahead, but I'm just trying to save you some gold.
I'm trying to find the most well-rounded ICC10/ICC25 (normal) raid spec for Arcane and there just seems to be such a massive disparity between the... 18~ (?) some-odd specs from players I am looking at in this thread and from my own server.
Is there a uniform spec that is generally agreed upon as having the capability of the most (consistent) top-end DPS? Are these (seemingly random) alternative specs not so random? Is there any "rule of thumb" that would explain why certain talents are being taken over the other?
Most topical conversation in these threads relate to rotation and fire > arcane or arcane > fire without much concrete discussion that would clearly outline a "target" or "goal" for someone looking to break into ICC 10/ICC25 raiding as Arcane.
