While it has been interesting to read all about the Enhancement changes in minute detail with these numbers, coefficients and what not, I was wondering if some of the beta testers could give us a more subjective opinion about the shape of the Enhancement shaman in Cataclysm? Things like

- Are you excited by the incarnation of Enhancement shaman in Cata?
- Does the talent redesign add to the spec? Do the talents work well together?
- Are you finding it fun to play?

In my experiance of the beta I use all kind of control: knock, kick, sap, gouge etc
I do damage too, but control and survival are much more important than getting the Damage from 10k to 10,1k

The so called "filler" Talents are the keys to an easy Raid evening.
I think the Rogue will be one of the main mob-distractors especially with the gouge glyph.

While leveling disabling the mobs leads to constant easy fight.
In 5 man dungeons is much use for control and disrupt.

I think Raids will be the same style and will be much more fun than the Saurfang kick-ass encounter.
While what you say may apply, it just isn't 100% correct.

Raiding requires that you know how to handle a fight. How to move. When you have to swap to an add. When to interupt etc.

Though raiding at a higher level requires you to do that with losing minimum dps. I'm 100% sure that you will not pick a rogue with crap dps because "we need a class that can gouge trash".

I've recently gotten my DK up to level 80. He's tank specced, but he also has a DPS offspec.

One thing that confuses me is why Glyph of Disease isn't used for single target. To me, it seems like getting in an extra scourge strike (and saving a GCD that can potentially be used for Death Coil) would be a superior option.

I apologize if this has been asked before. I tried the search function, but it didn't turn up anything relevant.

Mutilate rogues : The Haste and AP stats value : evolution mechanics.

Hi All,

I'm trying to find a simple answer to the question : "What mechanics are involved in the evolution of haste and AP stats value?".

The context is a Mutilate Standard Spec (51/18/2)& top end gear (3.3.5).

I already understand stats values move relatively to each other. I want to be specifically able to explain guild members in simple terms why their haste and AP values evolve.

I'm aware that a simple explanation to this question may not exist.

The kind of explanation I'd fancy having is :

Value of <insert the stat name here> (in/de)creases at certain lvl of <insert a stat name here> mainly because <insert reason> provided that <Insert Prerequisites>.

Thank you very much for your help,
Congratulations for all the very useful hard work provided in these forums.

PS. Pardon my english, I'm french.

Even if you were ideally geared, the EP you get with 45 ArmPen would never come close to comparing to 180 AP. I am a tiny bit conflicted though, because my guild leader seems so sure of this (and he is ideally geared and seems knowledgable on his class). Is he just plain wrong on this one, or would there be gear combinations or boss situations where this would be optimal?
Ok now my guild leader claims haste is a useless stat to combat rogues. He devalues the use of calculators (says they are only guidelines). I will keep arguing with him, maybe he will get a clue when I outdps somebody who is equally geared than me (and is set up the way he sees fit).

He's asking me why I don't start gemming for armpen (i'm only 5500 GS and don't have enough armpen yet for it to be worthwhile for gemming).

I'd love to prove him wrong and out dps one of the newb rogues in the guild who he is outfitting according to his theories.

Quick ?

I haven't had much luck researching this: what's the value of hit rating beyond spell hit as assasination? and its subsequent relationship to crit-capping? Whenever I spreadsheet, I see red-boxes by the crit % and hit's the only solution.

Can someone please enlighten me???

In that case, could it be worth to spec both TG and SMF (losing one point of incite or DW) and swap weapons in the middle of a fight to optimize dps?

Sorry if its too obvious and i am being and ignorant or stupid, but i am curious about the possibility of that happening and the worth of it.

I think that a lot of people will give this a try but i dont see this actually panning out in the end. Swapping weapons mid fight usually always ends in a DPS loss, IMO

They did say they wanted to up the intelligence. Looking at raiders in general, this is a realistic consequence of that.
But I didn't see any confirmation that WF is now merely a buff to the given attack? A little boring honestly, but Enhancement has been overflowing with endless streams of attacks. Getting it somewhat evened out, well I'm not against it. But if it was the selfproc, couldn't they just have made an ICD that was 0.1 seconds? Should achieve the same.

Hey guys,
you all actually seem to be taking to the new Enhancement system better than else where. I'm being put off for the most part from what I read on the forums but I sense that you seem to think its working except for some technicalities.
Just from reading the Cata changes I find it hard to get the impression that Enhancement will be much, if at all, better-off than on live. Regarding primarily the DPS system in PvE, although anything at all otherwise, I wonder if anyone would give a small summary of their impression of the boons and losses of the Cata changes by blizz.
Cheers.

Hit/Spirit gear, yes, mp5 on Elemental gear, I hope not. Or something failed miserably in the design.
Since we don't have an Ignite mechanic in our spec that could force us to go for crit, I think the Haste/Mastery will be the only way to go. Of course, some maths (even napkin maths) may prove me wrong, but at a first glance, this is how I see it.
Lava Surge will push crit rating even further down. Now we have a spell that crits every 8 seconds. In Cata, we'll have a spell that crits automatically more often than every 8 seconds. This will push up the damage contribution from Lava Burst, while pushing down the damage contribution from Lightning Bolt/Earth Shock/Fulmination. Flame Shock will stay approximately at the same levels, because of the changes made to the effects of haste on DoTs. We'll have more ticks, while having less instant damage from it.
Take what I said with a few grains of salt. These assumptions are not made on actual tests, I've only used logic, and since logic is very subjective, I might be wrong.

When is it a good time to go from arcane to fire? Since from what i understand fire is only better with BiS gear? I currently play on a mage with an average of 264 gear, should i wait until i got half or more 277 before I go fire?

thanks for the help in advance ^^
