Many things in Ulduar, ToC (hard mode only) and ICC weren't really made for 2-healing with pure 10 man equipment - and this is what we'll face in Cataclysm - the overgearing of 10 man by running with 25 man loot is gone.

Now this may also be different in Cataclysm because the vastly larger buffer from extreme health pools might mean there'll be far less need for 3-healing. On the other hand, if GC states they want to make the smite spec viable, that would also mean that a) the healing from it suffices in most cases and b) the dps from it is non-neglible, else why bother?

Regarding the decreased healing output, it won't usually be that much since if HPS from smite > HPS from "heal" and "heal" being the dominant spell, then - maybe - we're talking about 15% less HPS from that healer, so 5% total. The difference between this and the increased dps is that the dps is always useful, while I haven't healed in a 10 man 3 healer setup so far where we'd have said, "wow, we wouldn't have done it with 5% less healing". So you trade something that you don't need for something that you want - pretty good deal.
GC does in-fact say they want to make the smite spec viable :

Kalgan:

No, I actually did mean we intend players that glyph ffb to replace fireball with ffb in their rotation entirely (we're trying to avoid over-complicating the rotation). The current tuning for ffb, glyph, and mastery obviously don't get it there, but those can change (along with other stuff, like making the ffb dot stack).

Obviously, it's still complex to resolve scaling, etc.

• Dual Wield now also allows you to parry frontal melee attacks.

When I read this, the hairs on my neck started to stick up. Combine the passive parry with the whole Rockbiter embue, and you end up with Blizz practically screaming Shaman Tank.

It was a bad idea 5yrs ago, and its a bad now.

I have to say that the change to Pummel to be usable in both Battle and Berserker stance is a nice addition.

BUT, the rest of the changes don't make me happy. I still very much dislike Blood & Thunder and Thunderstruck. For that matter, I really dislike Thunderclap (even with the +50% damage increase). These two talents scream inefficiency and the Warrior tank already has to deal with so many talents as it is. Personally, I'd like to see the following:

ARMS

Thunderstruck - deleted
Heroic Throw - cool down reduced to 45 seconds

Tactical Mastery - removed; the amount of rage retained while switching stances bumped from 25 to 40 (passive) doesn't make any sense to have this talent now that there is no real need to switch stances outside of Intercept, Spell Reflect, and Whirlwind
Gag Order - now a Tier 2 Arms talent and has been revamped; Your Pummel and Shield Bash have a 50/100% chance of silencing the target for 3 seconds. Also gives your Heroic Throw a 50/10% chance of impaling your target incapacitating the target for 45 seconds.
Sudden Death - renamed Superiority of Arms

FURY

Enrage - changed to be a proc per minute so that there is no difference in the buff up time between TG/SMF

PROTECTION

Toughness - moved to Tier 2 from Tier 1
Blood & Thunder (revamped) - renamed to Bloodbath; Your Rend reduces the melee attack speed of the target by 10% for 20 seconds. In addition, targets hit by your Cleave are also afflicted with Rend for 6/12 seconds.
Softened Target *new* (Tier 1) - Increases the damage done by Devastate by 5/10% and causes your Devastate and Sunder Armor to apply 2/3 stacks when used
Heavy Repercussions - moved to Tier 2 from Tier 5; Increases the critical strike chance of Revenge by 20/40% after a critical block
Shield Specialization - moved to Tier 3 from Tier 2
Concussive Blow - deleted keeping a talent because it was an original Vanilla talent AND because it was usable on one boss through vanilla and two expansions is a bad idea
Last Stand - now connects to Vigilance
Warbringer - Heroic Leap will now also remove movement impairing effects
Impending Victory - Increases the damage done by 30/60% of the amount healed
Thunderstruck (revamped) - renamed Sound and Fury; Cleave now damages 1/2 additional targets. In addition, Cleave improves the damage of your next Shockwave by 5%. Stacks up to 5 times
Sworn To Protect *new* (Tier 5) - When the target of your Vigilance defends (blocks, dodges, or parries) and attack, you have a 10/20% chance to allow the use of Revenge; linked to Vigilance.
Shockwave - affects all targets within 360 degrees

PS: Hope the mods aren't looking at this as a "I wish" post. Not intended as such but rather a culmination of my observations.

Simple Question:

Is Warrior Taunt still on the Spellhitcap?

One of my Guildies Warrior tanks has 8% hit and his Taunt misses frequently. He claims it is not on the spellhitcap, it had been patched sometime ago.

Could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by "unplayable"?

Edit: Ok, roger that. I just wanted to know where you were coming from.

Anyone able to, feel free to delete this post as it´s no longer filling any purpose.

To give some perspective, casters in Uldum gear are barely doing a bit more damage on 85 dummies than they do on live.

The hit to crit/hit/haste and removal of armor penetration is going to have a very harsh impact on your damage output. Crit values literally dropped from 45% self-buffed crit at 80 to 13% at 85. Melee is more forgiving but still pretty low.

Which makes me worry about CP generation for cats. I'd hope to see some passive armor penetration talent or passive back as well. High armored targets I can barely dent.

Did anyone test if this is even possible?

With the new aggro system (tricks and MD not being permanent) and us being without any good aggro reductions. Is it even possible to spam ravage just because we can?

Edit: Ah, i was just testing this and i could spam ravage like no tomorrow, but it seems, if i read the blue post correctly, that you are supposed to ravage only once.

like...wtf

ok chakra looks pretty ridiculous, not only does it have its good points which have been mentioned more than once on this thread, it also has some pretty lame points.

like the fact that i have to do 12 hit street fighter combos just to use the right heals....why? i dont have enough buttons on my mouse(even with ALT and shift combos) to bind clique with the ability to use all the current WoTLK heals+lifegrip morans out of fire and pull off a fricken hadouken on the melee. not to mention once in a while during an instance i would enjoy looking at the beautiful environments blizzard paints for us. And of course that only really relates to holy but disc is looking grim as well w/ the smite spam mechanic. like...wtf\

I'd say somewhere between 200-300. Hit isn't as important in PvP arenas, you really need resil. which should be 800+ , make sure you are pvp geared. Buy Khaarma's Grace for 30 Stone Keeper Ston shards, at wintergrasp fortress. +20 resil. really useful for pvp
