Arcane mage alteration

I started off as a mage from vanilla to wotlk. Ive been perusing this site for as long as i can remember and thanks for that elitist jerks. Since wotlk i decided to change to shaman for the awesomeness of of shockandawe. However, i have always followed mages as a passion. Its really nice to see the changes for fire mages but arcane was a sweet spot for me especially come the end of tbc. It's a shame that arcane have had such a small overhaul in cata.

One thing i would love blizzard to implement to make up for that fact is mana gem. Id love them to input a talent fairly high up the tiers that reads something like this.

Mana gem loses the ability to restore mana. Alternatively four seperate spells are added to the spell book. They have the same cooldown as mana gem however each one has a different abilty along the lines of.

Your next four hits crit.

For 15 seconds you can move and casts spells.

For 15 seconds your spells are free.

Do an instant aoe damaging spell with a minor debuff.

I think would add a lot mpre intrigued to the class and yet allow them to adapt to the situation akin to other similar classes or specs.

I dont know who to contact to give such suggestions to however. I hope this doesnt seem too out of place sorry if it is. Jist an idea. I'd love to see arcane get given something back as i dont want to see the possibility of the spec to fade because of either enjoyment or overall dps values.

* Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle now increases Armor by 4% and total Stamina by 2%. (Old - Increased Defense by 25 and Stamina by 2%)

* Hand of Doom is now a Tier 2 talent, down from Tier 3.
* Blood-Caked Blade is now a Tier 3 talent, down from Tier 2.
* Improved Blood Tap (Tier 2) *New* - Reduces the cooldown of your Blood Tap ability by 15/30 sec.

Unholy
* Unholy Command now also gives you a 50/100% chance to refresh Death Grip's cooldown when dealing a killing blow to a target that grants experience or honor.

* Eviscerate base damage increased by 30%, now scales from 9.1/18.2/27.3/36.4/45.5% of AP depending on the amount of combo points, up from 7/14/21/28/35%.


Combat

* Backstab now deals 200% weapon damage, up from 175%. Additional base damage increased by 33%.
* Revealing Strike now causes 125% of your normal weapon damage, up from 100%.
* Improved Sinister Strike now increases damage dealt by your Sinister Strike ability by 10/20/30%, up from 2/4/6%.
* Vitality (Passive) now also increases Attack Power by 15%.

I've noticed that I seem to do quite a bit more damage (and threat) only using pulverize to keep up the buff. I tank with more of a priority system with mangle being the highest, keeping the pulverize buff being second and just spamming lacerate in down time. And yeah, I dont really see vengeance staying the way it is, I've seen mangle crits as high as 30k which is kind of rediculous

If someone is gkicked, and then re-added, do they lose all guild rep and start from scratch? Just curious, as it hasn't been terribly infrequent in the past that someone in our guild would jokingly kick someone else.

Hello,
I almost just dinged 80 and I loaded my gear into Landsoul's spreadsheet..
One thing I was curious about was that I need 26 expertise, but if I gem expertise instead of strength, I lose dps in the spreadsheet!
Can this be true, or should I just disregard it and gem exp until I have 26 no matter what the sheet says?

Your guild reputation is only wiped after you rejoin a DIFFERENT guild. If you're booted in play, it won't auto-reset your rep. That would be horrible.

Frost Tanking Threat Problem

I've been having minor threat issues tanking LFG dungeons in Frost spec. A usual pull would include a D&D to start, then a howling blast, then a saronite bomb, followed by IT/BS/FS fillers until howling blast is back of cooldown. Single target is absolutely not a problem, it's just AoE threat. I plan to eventually switch to blood spec tanking for if I plan on raiding with it, but I imagine that would make my AoE threat quite bad.

Also, I seem to be taking a good bit more damage than I should be with my gear. Equal geared and higher healers sometimes have a bit of trouble keeping me up. This isn't a huge concern, but it does alarm me slightly because I have 539 def with 15 resilience, so I'm at raid def cap, and I've got almost 40k unbuffed in FP.

Tips, suggestions?

Interesting, do you mean with a 3 stack Pulverize up, you can keep it at 3 stack by refreshing it with another Pulverize that only consumes 1 Lacerate?

Hmm, that's very possible and would make more sense than any theory I had. I'm planning to do a bunch of testing tomorrow so I'll see if I can nail it down.

No, he was spamming lacerate in between Pulverizes so it would have been at three stacks. From testing on a target dummy, Lacerate and a full power Pulverize had nearly identical TPR. Since a large portion of the threat gained from Lacerate is a static threat increase, as long as you have a bit of vengeance Pulverize will pull away quickly. However, that get's balanced with less damage from lacerate ticks and a couple less Berserk procs. I'm not sure where that will all even out, but my best guess is it will end up close enough that either using Pulverize as fast as you get three stacks or only fast enough to keep up the buff will be viable.

Well, Envenom consumes all DP Stacks from your Target. So its gotta be, otherwise its not working as intended.

Heya, long time lurker here. Got a question for all the theorycrafters here:

If I wanted to do a Unholy spec in the current patch but I want to spec 2 points into IUP, where should I take the points from? I was considering Impurity or Necrosis but I'm really not sure what to take the points out of. Which would be the best choice? I haven't played unholy for a LONG time so I'm a bit unsure how all the different talents stand in DPS-per-point when compared to each other.

I'm a tank mainspec, and so my DPS gear isn't the best, but since our unholy DK has stopped raiding while waiting for the 4.0.1 patch, I've decided to whip out an Unholy spec for those really crucial fights. I just really like having the insurance of 15% movement speed to help me survive and get to the target faster.
