Seeing how no one really has a clue as to the best spec to use DPS wise for rogues, I decided to go ahead and share my new rogue build, plus point out a couple observations for my Combat build which you can look at
here:
Combat mechanic observations:
1. Energy regeneration is much faster than before so it makes stacking haste trivial. Around 25% is plenty, give or take a couple % points. Otherwise, stack agility gems.
2. One extra button to use: Revealing Strike. It has an effect lasting 15 seconds. So you don't want to cast this one over and over again, just at the end of the rotation, (or start depending on how long it takes to get through a single rotation). Interesting to note: There is a glyph that empowers the effect granted from this by 10%. Doing some quick math, it looks like it would be more powerful than Prime Glyph Eviscerate but not as powerful as the other two I use. I will experiment and see if it is indeed better.
3. The old rotation seems to work best with Revealing Strike thrown in: 5 combo points, being that a combination of 2-4 SS, then SnD, then 5 combo points being a combination of 2-4SS + 1 RS, then Eviscerate. In a 25 man raid, I hold around 8k - 10k damage and that's on boss fights. With my gear score around 3k, according to wow-heroes.com.
Other thoughts: It's a vicious click cycle. You have to keep yourself aware of your little buffs going off at the same time, keep aware of RS, and any trinkets you might want to pop. Your eyes will be jumping all over the screen! Since Eviscerate or Envenom take 2 seconds off adrenaline rush cool down with the new "Bandit's Guile" talent, which doesn't take very long at all to make another adrenaline rush ready just as soon as your last one finishes, it feels like a lot to do in very little time.
Prime glyphs: Sinister Strike, Adrenaline Rush, Eviscerate (instead of this one, try Revealing Strike)
Major glyphs: Blade Flurry, Cloak of Shadows, Fan of Knives
Minor glyphs: Safe fall, Improved Sprint, Glyph of Poisons
