Since we can cast Curse of Elements on targets now also, I was interested to know if anyone has tried a 31/0/5 Spec with 3/3 Bane 2/2 Imp Immolate With Glyph of immolate>Glyph of Agony. Provided you have alot of haste to cover the loss of bane this spec wouldn't be too bad would it?
I know this, been playing affliction for a very long time. . . It's just that since UA is not so much talented now there's no points lost. Just tested on dummy and it seems to be doing more than the cookie cutter spec, just curious as to how much dps it would effect for our execute.
I know it's not relevant to the most cutting-edge players around, but I'm curious, when you take the addition of Haste as well as Reforging Crit->Mastery into consideration, does Shadow's Edge finally outweigh Bryntroll? My DPS seems to go up with Shadow's Edge on a dummy, but I've yet to really be able to test the numbers in a raid (admittedly, it's all I can do just to get used to the new system; it's a blast, just more complex than pre-patch Unholy).

Hey guys, I have been doing some Ret testing this morning and things are a little better today. My initial thoughts after a night of raiding, reading what GC has said about melee getting buffed soon to compensate for the harsh DPS loss that we have seen (worse for Fury and Feral tbh) have changed my opinion a bit.
Toying with the test dummy today, I changed a couple of things around with the reforging and dropped Tiny Abomination in A Jar for heroic Deathbringer's Will combined with Herkuml War Token, I was sustaining DPS with Blessing of Might at 6800 single target on a heroic dummy. Since they have not hot fixed the issues with DPS balance, I would assume that the trinket has yielded me an increase of 1300 DPS prior to any changes that are coming. I did have to restore a couple of items since I dropped Tiny Abom which kept me at hit cap and had reforged extra hit to haste or mastery, and I reforged like 1 piece to keep me near expertise cap (24) without the Glyph of Truths which grants 10 expertise, so having Glyph of Judgment instead as a Prime I believe also improved my overall DPS and damage output.
I value any opinions on what I have tried, but I know that I was hitting 5500 on a target dummy self buffed yesterday before I got DBW and the Skeleton Lord's Circle from ICC, hitting 6800 sustained with a 7k peak with all procs and CD's blown isn't too bad.
I dont think ALL your dps increase today because you changed trinkets , i think they already "boost" the Paladin damage (HOW , Exo , ??) , yesterday i was only able to hit ~7k dps on dummie , today im doing 10k sustained (~11k pik) !! (same gear , same spec , same gems and same reforg used yesterday)
Is it just me or from the logs from this weeks Icc the combat rogues doing the old eviscerate only rotation are having proper results?
Last night I messed up a bit during DB mostly because ui setup and latency queing SS`s before RvS ending up with some wasted combo points here and there but still managed to keep a good uptime on rupture but still got only about 14-15k Dps. "/
We did a 10 man icc last night, I went with a build other then the recommended, i have 0 points in relentless stirkes, 2 in coupe de gras (evis) and 3 in lethality, and I glyped for evis. I regemmed, and also reforged properly wound main hand, deadly off. Evis only rotation.
On marow, the assasination rogue in our guild who was around 500 to 800 dps behind me on every fight pre patch, out dps'd me by about 500 dps, on lady i beat him by 400 dps or so, but I never left the shield, he was on shield and adds. Saur was a different story, he was 1100dps higher then me on a fight where you stand still the whole time. as for rotation i was:
5cp slice - SS to either 3 or 4 points - RvS - Evis
I am not sure how to take that at this point because I did not have another Combat rogue to compare against. However, i feel like that combat spec in paticular starts out making way to much energy, and then slows down so bad that it just feels horrible. I was going through long sections where energy regen was just painfuly slow., and then sections where I could not spend it all.
According to the old threads here this was the trinketranking:
Tiny Abomination in a Jar(Heroic)>Tiny Abomination in a Jar>Sharpened Twilight Scale (heroic)>Death's Choice (heroic)>Whispering Fanged Skull (heroic)>Death's Choice>Sharpened Twilight Scale>Whispering Fanged Skull>Herkuml War Token>Deathbringer's Will(heroic)>Deathbringer's Will>DMC:Greatness (Strength)>Needle-Encrusted Scorpion>Banner of Victory
And this was the ranking for weapons:
Shadowmourne - > Oathbinder, Charge of the Ranger-General - > Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand - > Bloodfall - > Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter - > Warmace of Menethil - > Cryptmaker - > Oathbinder, Charge of the Ranger-General - > Glorenzelg, High-Blade of the Silver Hand - > Shadow's Edge - > Wrathful Gladiator's Claymore - > Oxheart - > Ramaladni's Blade of Culling - > Bloodfall - > Hersir's Greatspear - > Bryntroll, the Bone Arbitert
Has this changed or is it still the same rankings?
You mean casting immo instead of ua? Since immo doesn't benefit from either mastery, se or haunt I find it hard to believe it would outperform the standard rotation.
Thats what i thought too but on the dummy it sure seems pretty close. I'm rubbish with theorycrafting so just thought i'd try to get some actual numbers. Immo just seems to be hitting alot harder than i thought it would. Also we could just throw UA up @ 26%
Guess im just reaching here as the new 31 point system sucks for customization.
