Was raiding last night and was using the glyphs in the OP to begin with and later switched Immolate with Incinerate and saw my damage increase quite a bit. Is Immolate really better than Incinerate?

edit: Destro spec.

It seems to me Slam is really for Single-Minded Fury(Slam hits with both weapons now).
Anyone with 2 decent 1H think they could test this out?

Please do not post misinformation

Are you kidding?

The misinformation is the one with strength. I really want to see a shaman full gem and enchant with strength.

If you don't thrust me read this

And if you don't thrust him check to see how much strength you have on gear.

Have fun.

tested with 2x 250dps weaps,
rage starvation is nothing , but dps agaist two handed weapons its much lower cause there is no more debuff for 2handers.
with 2x 2hander 7805
with 2x 1h 5900

Over to business: If you check out my dk, you'll see that the toon is close to bis gear, and currently I'm in an unholy setup for the gear aswell, and I've always loved unholy 2h specc, even though it hasn't always been viable for raiding. Now my question to you all is this:

Don't you feel like unholy fell behind alot in the latest patch? At least I pulled off 2k less dps on saurfang hc (the ultimate dps check boss for melee) after patch, than before. So to speak I feel like I'm rather gimped as unholy dk, and I'm standing around waiting all the time.

Even when the gear is setup as unholy (as mentioned) I do more dps when I'm frost specced. I've tried to look around if anyone else feels the same, but most people seems very dedicated to "their" specc so to speak.

My experience is that at least now as of 4.0.1 frost 2h outperformes UH, and I'm planning to reforge my gear over to fit the stat weights of frostspecc instead of unholy. Which is a real shame! The pet enrage alone makes it almost worth being a little behind on the dps! :p

Hoping for inputs.. and hoping unholy isn't the "lesser specc" in cata.

As far as I'm concerned, Unholy seems to be the highest DK DPS spec at its current state. If you check World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis and look at the Heroic ICC fights, you'll find the top Unholy DKs pulling ahead of Frost by 2-3k on most fights. Now, not everyone logs their fights, but it's a nice estimate.

Also, I, myself, haven't tried raiding yet. I will be raiding on Tuesday, and I'll learn whether I do more or less DPS than I did pre-patch. Currently, though, I pull 3k more DPS on a dummy than I did before the patch. However, with the buff nerfs and such, I'm not sure whether I'll pull more DPS now than before, or if it'll all even out and I'll pull around the same DPS.

The new priority-system takes some getting used to, and I would be very surprised if everyone figured out how to play perfectly yet. In reality, you SHOULD pull more DPS as UH. Seeing as how the top DPS on WoL went from 20k top DPS to 24k.

If you're standing around waiting all the time, you're definitely doing something wrong. I, with 35.35% base haste (excluding UH Presence) have something to do ALL the time. I might have a total of 4-5 seconds of downtime throughout a 5 minute combat rotation.

@Beist, I totally agree with Snob. I have certainly found my single target dps jumping by quite a bit. Granted I dont have the most amazing gear by any means. Myself and some Real life friends broke away from serious raiding around a year ago and started up an extremely social guild very recently. Along with some complete virgins to the raiding scene, so gear is not readily available to us on the 10 man level.
However on the little 10man raiding that I have done, I tend to manage around 2.5k dps more over the first 4 encounters in ICC 10 man. On Saurfang my sustained dps went up by 3.5k. It did take some getting use to. Making sure to watch that blood/frost rune and not waste it on something silly but rather wait for its frost/blood partner to come up and do a FeS. Making sure to keep the ghoul transformed as often as possible, etc...
I must say that the one thing I believe has pushed the dps up the most, besides the increased pet dmg, is the number of SS we can get off in a rotation. After the disease and FeS opening, you have 6 SS coming up with the death runes. Unloading all of those is a massive dps boost compared to the old number.

I know that the numbers are not great by BiS 25 man standards, but for my gear I dont think that they are bad. I have gone from around 8k dps on Saurfang, to 11.5k. Only gear changes have been reforging, and im pretty sure that I could never have gained a 40% dps increase from Reforging alone. And with no warrior in our previous raids we never ran with the sunder debuff. Now our feral provides it so that 12% reduced armor is there. Still not enough to warrant the increase.

Unholy has definitely increased since the patch. Make sure of your priorities if you are standing around, you are most likely doing something wrong. FeS'ing on death runes will cause you to hang around for a while. So will not DC'ing on sudden death procs or every time you have 34 runic power or more.

Spellpower gems have been removed from the game, so you cannot gem spellpower. You have the choice between intellect as a throughput stat or spirit as a regen stat.

Do buy the trinket. If you can find Spark of Hope from Ulduar, that one apparently bugs Word of Glory making it actually generate Holy Power.

While I concede that Shamans do not gear or gem Strength (and none should). It does not change the fact that Shaman receive AP from Agility and Strength.
You are correct, though, that current and future mail gear does not contain Strength because Agility is our intended primary stat.

I never posted or even registred on this forum before, even tho ive been reading it since it came up more or less ... It usually covers most thoughts that i needed feedback on.

This last patch have really turned things around when it comes to the tanking part not just do we tanks take more damage we also have issues with threat...

My experiance so far is the low runic power gain doesnt match up with the dump specially in the early stage of a fight.

10 for each rune leading to 60 for cloning your weapon to gain the 50% threat increase (if glyphed) but at that time u either must pop BT or RE to have something to do then just wait for the runes to reset missing atleast 1 GCD ... with the high threat DPSers it really narrow things down for errors in rotation and using survival skills when u have to be on your toes with a very strikt threat rotaion ...

Any good tips in good ways of threat gain is highly pretiated.

Im using this rotation at start ... IT+PS+HS+HS+DS+DRW+(BT or RE) but still some DPS classes are very cloose to me and if im "helping out" on my own damage reduction spending some GCDs on that, some can even pass me

Are they making RS to a Blood presence only skill and taking away the requirements that needs to light the skill?
One thought is to take away the runic power cost on DRW so it can be more usefull as it is now its a blance with that or RS.

Cat Gemming

know this is a somewhat "self awnsering" question but need to get this comfirmed after al lot of different awnsers. Crit vs. Agi vs. Haste? Moast players says agi (which im planning tog gem atm) , blizz gives us crit and some are gemming haste (such as Tun from ensidia, who im 99% sure have tried cata and are preparing for it + i've moastly followed his guid etc)

Agi = 2 ap per point + crit and is probably the one to gem
Crit rating gives more crit than agi aka. more combo points which increases dps (donno if it can compete with the AP from agi)
Haste gives more white dmg (more often) and more often ticks on dots etc ( also here donno if it competes)

bout 6k gs (know it still depends on the gear ) but just to let u know somewhat which gear

without shadowflame

It would be cool to see numbers with and without shadowflame.

Also, was wondering about gem slots. Swap out +20int red slots for int/haste? Yellow slots with +20 haste? How about the meta slot? still keep the chaotic?

Thanks,

gnube

Gemming depends on your gear, there's a few thresholds that were posted in the thread.

Shadowflame gives you ~200 dps, so it ain't that important.
However, you do want to get used to setting corruption as well or you will loose ~ 800dps.

Hi all,

First of all, excuse me for my english. :S
For my first post here (i read this forum since 2years), i'd like to thank all member of DK community (specially frost spec) for your active participate so as to understand our new gameplay and changes.

I've also a question regarding Consider analysis and its haste breakpoint.
I'dont know if its because i didnt understood all the post, but can you confirm that Haste cap have to be between 16% and 17%?
In a another way, decrease the haste score (under 16% then) is meaning decrease the dps? Or is it more interessting to reforge all in mastery regardless of haste softcap?

I've also a lot of difficulty to keep in mind a kind of "dps cycle".
Can you please remind what is important to do (or not to do) to keep a constant dps and rune cycle (such as never use twice the same cast?) because my dps if very unstable with the new classic template.
Last night on ICC25H
Saurfang: 17k
Rotface: 19k

I've also made some test with another spec inspired from Seraphthrone post, by spamming HB and nerver use OB. I'd a very close dps to the main spec with OB :
Lord Morrowgar: 17k
Festergut: 17k

Template: The World of Warcraft Armory
Glyphes: Prime = HB, D&D, FS.

Many thanks for your help and feedback.
Nellthas.
