Too little crit?

Was hoping to get some opinions on crit %.

My gear is so/so, mainly from 25 Normal with a few from ToC 25 (Recently switched from my Hunter back to my Rogue, getting caught up now from the ToC days). Trying to reforge, I was thinking of how low my crit was going, and was wondering what you guys were thinking about how low is too low? I realize the EP of crit is a bit lower than Haste/Mastery/Hit, but at what point does it get so low that you start to lose DPS from the extra CP from Seal Fate Mutilate crits. Any opinions/thoughts welcome on this. Thanks in advance!

Damn, it's been a while since I've been here and now that I can't access the site from work, it will take me forever to catch-up on all the new threads and posts regarding the chances brought by the 4.0.1.

Quick question, regarding gems:

What to gem now? All out Strenght? Mix Str with Crit or with Hit? Do we need to get to the 27% hit cap (or very close to it)?

Thanks in advance.

It's their intention that all DoTs in the game scale from haste and I see no reasoning why this would not follow the rule.
Except Censure, for whatever reason, right now doesn't recalculate haste at any point - it always ticks at the rate set by your haste at the time it's initially applied.

Hence the talk about the "Censure haste bug".

On the first page white hit is 1.8 and mastery is 1.9 and I saw the last update was after this was posted, are those the updated numbers?

i wanted to add one thing about the weapons speed issue reffering to how our shots seems to be based on weapon damage, and the confrontations between slower crossbows and faster bows:
some time ago a rogue friend of mine trashed and higher level dagger for his old one, despite the lower maximal damage of the latter, i asked him why, he's quite a seasoned rogue raider, so i figure i can pretty much trust him, here's his answer: "this dagger has an higher maximal, i saw some really high crits from mutilate, but, as you can see, the minimum damage also is quite lower than my previous weapon, resulting in higher strikes, as well as in way lower strikes, depending on damage roll table, i noticed a slight dps loss, and, i don't really like to rely on luck to do a fair dps"

if i'm not mistaken, muti is weapon damage based, like our shots now, this could mean that speed is indicative, but what really matter are the minimum and maximum damage range of the weapon, to make up an example:

Weapon 1: damage range: 750-1000
Weapon 2: damage range: 500-1100

the second weapon would grant a net 100 maximal damage gain, and that's quite a bit, but our minimum possible damage will be lowered by 250 points, this may result in no dps gain, and perhaps, in a net loss

assuming this is true, and i still cannot be sure, (i should farm weapons with the described stats and give it a try) a weapon with an higher maximal may not be that better if we're speaking about reliabilty..

giving an example with in game weapons:

[Zod's Repeating Longbow] Zod's (Heroic): 638 - 1186 Damage
[Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas] Fal'inrush (Normal): 746 - 1120 Damage

zod's means a net maximal gain of 66 damage on our shots (and a socket), while, despite his slightly lower level, fal'inrush has a minimal damage higher (108 points)

it's clear that haste affects better slower weapons as said before, and all the speculations about that may be true, but i believe the real reason why zod's lost a bit of dps is because of the damage interval, and not directly because of the speed..
i don't have neither one of the said weapons, but someone in the previous post tested it, and this may be the reason behind it.

Assuming not much will change when cata comes, otherwise you are just simply wasting time, leaving us - 80's - with no support.

What happens if you don't wield a proc weapon. For instance, I have both Bryntroll heroic and Cryptmaker heroic and I can't decide what to wield. Which stat should i be after, if I wield Cryptmaker? Haste after 30% or crit after "soft cap" haste?

I'm seeing an issue with Soul Fire as Destruction spec, and wondered if it's a known bug (I'm not in the Beta) or if anyone else has observed something similar.

Improved Soul Fire does not seem to be refreshing off the instant Soul Fires from Empowered Imp procs, and for that matter seems to be hit or miss as far as refreshing at all from normal Soul Fire's during the duration of the buff. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

EDIT : And yes, I'm referring to bosses/dummies > 80% health confirmed via healthbar % from DBM/ORA2 as well as working on a constant 100% dummy in SMC.

Fury Warrior in 4.0

Hey guys, i would like to share my experience.

When patch hit, i was a little unprepared, a bit skint, so gems/glyphs were all over the shot etc...I have been tinkering with my spec/gems and with the recent hotfix...the damage looks more tastey...

I have went hard exp cap and got my hit up to 24%...this means im almost hard capped for all 80-83(boss) enemies...with the 20+ hit gems now blue, this helps on some items that had blue sockets..

i have switched my META gem to 21 crit 3% crit dmg... And regemmed all to strength (10 strength 15 crit when going for yellow socket bonuses) so firstly you want hit cap...and get much more of it...! like reforge all your Haste(previously ARP, so you should have lots of it!)

i try my best not to reforge any crit... and currently im low in that department (40-44%ish) unbuffed im around 5-6k Attack power. You must try to balance your stats...if you go all out on hit for 27% you wil lack alot of crit/AP...

I am planning to test this in a raid enviroment on my regular icc25 Friday 11/12 heroic run, tomorrow. So i will have logs to record my performance. (3 shards off my first shadowmourne...so enchants are ready and hoping for increase in damage with that sexy orange )

With the new Abilities and talents i have also changed my rotation...

Made a macro to give me a rage boost

/cast Berserker Rage
/cast Battle Shout
(booming voice gives 10 rage, + berserker rage generates 5 rage)

Rage Macro > BT / Raging Blow > Execute(on proc) > Slam(on bloodsurge proc) > Heroic Strike
(obviously Whirlwind & CLeave on mutli targets)

Heroic Strike = i use this as a rage dump, when all over abilities are on cooldown
Battleshout & Berserker Rage = i pop these on cooldown for more rage, when im starved.
execute = big hitter...and gives 5% more attack speed!!!
pummel = increases damage by 5%!! so interupt!
flurry = increase attack speed by 25% for next 3 swings...

I kinda like this burst-damage style...all abilities are instant...i kinda sometimes loose track of my rotation and begin to hit based on instinct.

but im taking note on my big hitter... range from 22-55k crits.. :O and thats not even in icc. 15k hits seems to be the norm.
---------------------------------
MASTERY - to be honest i initially reforged all to this...and it was pretty daft...i think it would be more effective at 85 level with 85 items...

lets look into this in more detail...

Mastery: Unshackled Fury
Increases the benefit of abilities that cause or require you to be enraged by ??%. Each point of Mastery Increases enrage effects by an additional 3.13%

Oki so only abilities/talents that cause me to enrage are...

Enrage = 9% chance of your melee hits cause you to enrage...(giving you 10% more damage) so like mastery increases this percentage????
Deathwish = When activated you become Enraged, Increasing your physical damage by 20% but increasing all damage taken by 5%

SO does mastery increase your Deathwish physical damage by more than 20%??

obviously the glyph removes the damage taken by 5%.

for my extra 5 points i have went for 3 in war academy and 2 in incite...until i reach 81... then im going for deep wounds

bleeding dot will be sick!

thanks for reading,

/sigh Look at the tooltip of Improved Soul Fire and really read it. If you spot a section in the tooltip that may concern the cooldown of the Improved Soul Fire buff, you win the price.

If you do hit the hit cap, it will help a lot more with rage, if your at 24ish% your not that far off from getting there anyways, burn some crit, putting it into hit will increase your dps. You will be surprised what at least 1-1/2% or 2% will do for your dps

Heroic strike can be a huge deal, I use it every time I see my rage pop over 35-40 ish and I never get rage starved, I'm pretty sure that should be more than a -dump- instead manage your rage right, if your at your 27% you will EASILY be able to have that constantly in your rotation

I have a few assassination spec related questions if I may. I was combat all my raiding life, since late vanilla onward, but after the latest patch, I decided to try out a few raids till Cata launch as assassination. Well that, coupled with the fact that the removal of ArP and introduction of RVS, which still kinda feels as a gimmick, made me feel like I would like a change, at least for a bit. In any case, bottom line is that this is my first time actually raiding as an assassin rogue and there are a couple of gear related questions I have, regarding the spec. First of, does the OH dagger have to be a fast one for more poison procs, or should I just go for the highest DPS weps as a choice? Also, I don't know if it has been discusses in previous posts, but how valuable is the 4 set bonus for this spec? I have access to gear level up to 264, so no 25man heroic items yet.

One last thing, is there an addon that can play an alarm or put a visual warning up, when the boss is at 35% so I may switch to BS? Like I said, I'm new to this spec for raids and I still need some time to adjust to the new play style and I thought that an addon like that could help!

Cheers and thanks for your time!
