Read the stickies. Leveling Spec is opinionated, but I think most people would tell you Combat is the way to go (i actually don't think this is covered currently in the stickies.)

2) Dual-IP, I would imagine.
3) Professions are your personal choice. They won't matter for leveling. If you want to max your theoretical DPS output, read the raiding sticky.

In the DW Spec. when I wield my Bryntroll, I am hit capped, but when I switch to DW, it says I have a 10%+ to miss. I have 13% hit rating.

Hello! Long time reader, first time poster.

First of all I would like to say thanks to the people who really put time and energy into the maths that I cannot wrap my head around. After an absence from wow for months I am totally lost as to our current situation as mages. We all read this forum to become better at what we do...however my comprehension is pretty low so bare with me because these are the questions plaguing my mind;

-Are Arcane mages now abandoning Molten Armor in Favor of Mage armor?

-What are our stat values?...I'm gathering (as a general rule) Int>Mastery>Haste for primary values.

-New professions to max dps: Eng and JC? or Eng and LW?

-What will our optimal cycle be for a lengthy boss encounter?

I feel a lot of these questions do not have a black and white answer however I do need assistance with them. Input appreciated greatly. Thanks in advance.

My mage is just my alt so I haven't been following the mage discussions closely but I have 2 questions/things to think about. Also I haven't had acces to the beta so excuse me if this sounds stupid.

- Has anyone ever thought of taking Arcane Concentration and Improved Blink? The DPS increase of Improved Blink isn't measurable and I know MoE and AC don't stack but I feel like burning soul is a bit useless since popping a Ice Barrier will negate cast time reduction.

- Also Ice Shards usefull or not? Even with 1 point I seem to get 2 FoF charges for each Blizzard and seeing as the AoE section of this thread isn't very clear I am not sure if it is worth it. With FFO on 1 minute CD I would think yes but on the other hand AoE pulls are more rare in cata.

Why bother reforging or gemming for hit when Int is a clearly superior stat? The only significant drawback from being under the cap, as far as I can see, would be disrupted rotations after a miss, but ideally you could react and recast in the following GCD.

race question:
I'm thinking about rerolling hunter as goblin. is the rocket barrage's damage in any form significant or is orc still THE race when it comes to hunter due to its superior racial abilities?

That time of the expansion again.

Due to recently swapping characters I wasn't level 80 for Cata start, but I pushed last night and made it to 75 with my baby druid who's a JC, in order to be able to start working on the JC tokens as soon as possible (only missed a day).

In a couple of days I'll be able to buy my first recipe and... I'm at a loss as to what to choose. I figure a lot of people will go for the pure cuts (STA/AGI/STR/INT/SPI) so those should be pretty quickly flooded. Any idea what a few not-so-obvious gem cut choices would be in order to profit from them for a few days at least?

Also, allow me to contribute something.
I powered JC last night from 450 to 475 (to unlock the daily). There was a dire lack of gems on the AH (The Maelstrom) so I figured "let's try prospecting". I bought all Obsidium Ore under 20g/piece (total of about 10-20 stacks or so) and prospected it. At lowest current AH prices as of last night (green gems 70-150, blue gems 200-500) I actually would have made a profit if I was to put the gems back on the AH. Green gems got me slightly above cut even with the ore cost and I pulled 4 blue gems.
Might help someone with money to burn, although it's risky since the market for gems is sort of volatile price-wise right now, I think. People are buying them to power their professions so the prices are high, no idea how long it'll last. On the other hand, same situation is for the ore, which should also go down.

I am not sure i should post this here, but could someone write (or point me to) an up-to-date bear tanking guide? I've been playing WoW since vanilla and i have tried all the classes, more or less. Had a bear up to level 70 once, but then i dumped it.
For cata I am looking to making a bear and i'd like to learn about the current state of the game concerning bears. The mechanics, skills, tallents, itemisation, and especially the "little tricks". I find that most guides on the net lack information about the little tricks that people use. Perhaps they are considered common knowledge, i don't know, but i've found myself in a situation like "why are you using frostbrand as an elemental and not flametongue?" many a time(I am pretty sure at some point in the past, flametongue didn't boost SP, and frostbrand was the best choice for elemental cause it gave some minor form of CC, but i might be wrong). I've read a lot on these forums and found some very good guides for many classes, but most of the time people focus on min-maxing and numbercrunching and skip all the other details, that i happen to be interested in.

Anyways, don't mean to rant, so in short - i am looking for a good, up-to-date and complete bear guide.
