We also have to take in account replenishment and mana regen. If you interscale Free Scorches between FB, you can launch more FB before OOM. Maybe you will have Evoc or Mana gem up again before having to Scorches spam because you have no mana.

I can add that being OOM means that you can't launch awesome Pyroblast!

Read everything here , atm perfecting both spec Fire and Frost.
My ilvl gear to this date is 337 , have about 23% crit selfbuffed, using Molten Armor ofc.
Weaving Scorch , using Flame Orb on every cd , LB as it should be.
So , atm on heroics boss fights my dps is between 8k and 11k and I dont like it. Sometimes i cast 20 times Scorch/Fireball without any crit which makes me sad and feel like somethings wrong with my play , even tho everyone knowz its pure chance...
Still, i want to ask if your dps at same ilvl is equal? If its higher or u finish every boss fight with more than 10.5k dps then I play wrong ^^
Main questions:
1st Are you happy with Fire Mage`s dps compared to other classes?
2nd Read a mats here where they say a fire mage should do about 19.4k dps in 346 ilvl gear raid wise with all raid buffs. I really dont see myself doing that dps in a week with just 9 ilvl more. Is it possible for a whole fight or it is a simulation that inludes only a period with BL/TW

Im topping the dps meter about 50% of hc runs but actualy I think its cuz I`m dedicated mage,playing this class as main for 5 years and etc..still im not happy with fire dps atm compared to ele , enh shammies, rogues and dks for example.

looking for the best place in cata to quest, it seems most the quest i've been doing reward caster gear or plate/mail.... any thoughts

Wow. That is something I had never even considered doing. Are you suggesting that dropping all DoTs during Dark Archangel to do [Mind Spike x3 -> Mind Blast] is a DPS increase?
Opposed to all three DoTs running with 5x Evanglism before Dark Archangel is activated and using a combination of Mind Blast and Mind Flay over the period of Archangel?

I'd like to find out how beneficial this is and will do some testing later if and when I get time.

At the moment I have the Hurricane enchant, but now I am wondering if Power torrent or Hurricane enchant would be better for shamans overall dps? Has anyone tested this?

Same story tbh, both are equal as dps at this ilvl.
Fire is dependant on crit chance all the time, Frost is dependant if Deep Freeze will crit or not.
ATM im doing SFK hc , 1st boss 9.3k dps :S
Moonkin with lower ilvl gear 10.5k
And im sure i didnt miss single proc or sec on cd for LB or FO...

This is annoying

I evocate at very rare ocasions. My mana is stable so far , waving is good fr mana..not for dps.
I dont find it being proper that fireball must boost dps ....it doesnt (unless it crits , and now its crits are too rare)

Because you get Mana Feed, you cannot afford anything more than 3 points in the Affliction. Using the Simcraft Wiki from the first post we see that Mana Feed is our largest sources of mana during a fight with the predetermined factors:


And obviously this mean less life taps, which means more gcds for dps. This gain is far better than a marginal increase in the damage output of something that only accounts for less than 5% of our dps.

doesnt matter cos u lose GDC and so far i prefer dpsing w/o unleash weapons. bonus dmg is nice, but we are not at that point that out gear can support that. maybe after getting 4/5 T11 it will be usable, but i'd prefer it would be some sort of passive bonus rather then using it all the time

This can be verified in the character screen.

The hit in melee stats panel shows the +6% hit from the DW specialization, but if you check the spell stats panel's hit, the +6% bonus hit won't added to the base hit from gear.
