Anyone have check the dps increase for the fire mage from the new warlock Spell Dark Intent ? Also with this spell on us the haste require for the aditional tick is around 125 for the first tick.
I'm curious if mages are even getting this buff. In my raids I get passed over in favor of hunters and death knights. Both of those classes have pretty high dot damage, so I'm not sure if mages are even the best class to receive this buff when we're talking about raidwide benefit rather than individual dps benefit.
If you have a single-stat item, say a trinket that gives mastery, I assume it's worth reforging this into haste - would that be correct?
I think it depends what your mastery is currently at, AFAIK it only works in 1/2 points, so if your at 10.49 mastery, reforge it and see where it lands. I'm not sure how much better haste is than mastery but I think they are pretty close now.

Defiantly, as your group won't be gaining 10% spell power without it, the easiest way is to have a power aura to check if you always have the totemic wrath buff, if you don't, hit your searing button/fire guy.
I can't find/inspect your armory character due to your profile not working correctly. But my first thought was "Maybe he's doing 10/25 man raids and doesnt have the 5% haste buff present". You might have 620 unbuffed haste, but you still won't be getting any additional ticks without the raid buff (outside of Heroism). Also, check whether he is using Glyph of Living Bomb. The OP has details stating that Glyph of LB could sometimes be superior to Glyph of Fireball, depending on the encounters you're trying to optimise for. It could also be something simple such as he is keeping Living Bomb up on both active Tron Council/Ascendant Council/Twin Dragon members simultaneously, whereas you are not. So, we'd also need to know which fights you're actually referring to here.
Halfus, Magmaw and Maloriak - for example - all present a big opportunity to get unusually high Living Bomb damage (moreso if you use the Glyph). A fight like Chimaeron or Atramedes, does not. There also some strat related specifics which can affect results, such as: Does X guild tank both Tron Council adds on top of each other for extra, incidental AOE damage where possible? Or always separate - and so forth.
And I guess it could also be as simple as their racials playing out, ie the person doing more damage than him is a Troll and is using Berserking with LB whenever it's up (and mayhap also in junction with TW/BL). However it does look like the gap is bigger than what the extra ticks from a clever use of Berserking should be adding up, although that could vary depending on the length of the fight. It's more likely it's the cause of either raidbuffs or Glyphing.
Does anyone here know why Blizzard opted to change the original mastery plan for combat ("harder hitting combo-point builders") to Main Gauche? Seems like Sinister Strikes that hit like a truck would have been way more useful. Would make mastery almost as attractive for combat as it is for assassination...
I read this thread yesterday. But now I'm little uncertain what Gems and enchants I should use. In my opinion Dodge>Mastery, 'cause I better avoid all damage than reduce it, or? Should I take both of them (just talking about stamia, mastery, dodge. ~8% hit etc are standarts.) a little? One more, one less? I don't know. You can check my gear at arsenal, it isn't that bad. But JUST at HC's the healer have to heal a lot, 'cause I get rly much damage. Someone know a way out? Wanna get my bear tanking in raids.
The thing is that we have same glyphs (LB, FB and MA) and I compared 4-5 logs on Nefarian and Chimareon, he's worgen and i'm a draenai, everything seems the same including boss fights length.. and yes, we both raided 25men and haste supposed to be capped.. Basically, no idea I will try to find logs to compare when I get back home! Thanks for the replies
Shattra, scroll up to the top of the page, Astrylian gives a very thorough one-stop guide to how to prioritise your stats. Some variations may apply to certain fights, but generally that's the way to go.
Hm seems that the calculations for the optimizer are a bit odd :/
Yesterday i hit the optimizer Button, including Talent Spec option and so on. toughness was set to 3/4 of the Bar.
After about 1 1/2 Hours of calculating i found out, that by respeccing my talents i would gain about 3k dps more. Sounds nice, then i looked at the changes. I´m a arcane mage and Rawr told me to put points in the following talents:
First, i mostly dont counterspell raid bosses. Second, i dont use fire. Only firespell i use is Flame Orb. Every !1 Minute!.
Why does rawr tell me to spend points in such useless talents? I don´t get it
I would appreciate if you could list maybe the top 5 weapon enchants. Landslide is really expensive and I guess alot of rogues that are gearing up would want cheaper enchants. Are Mongoose and Hurricane viable options to Landslide?
Has anyone considered/looked at blade ward. I'm sure it has some sort of diminishing returns at 85, but it may provide a smaller number of rating then windwalk, but a far greater up time. I.E. 2-3 stacks of blade ward up a majority of the time vs windwalks 600 dodge . I'm assuming of course windwalk has an internal cd of some sort and will prob be up only a percentage of the time.
I don't have the numbers for each, but if someone does it might be something to consider.
I can't explain Chimaeron easily. My only guess would be you might be casting Living Bomb while you have Caustic slime (-75% hit) and not realising LB was never actually applied. However, if you're using Combustionhelper it's very easy to notice and avoid this from happening.
But for Nefarian, it's possible he's dotting up Constructs during Phase 1. Or dotting up Nefarian during phase 2 (simultaneously with the Chromatic Prototype). Your posts just say he has more damage from LB than you, without any indication as to which mobs are actually taking it. It's important we know the latter as well.
Dotting up Constructs could be done for good reasons (trying to increase Pyromaniac uptime) or for bad ones (trying to look good on damage meter: Damage on Constructs is irrelevant). Furthermore, LB on Constructs can interfere with some of the delicate CC used in Phase 1 (If your guild runs with a heavy CC approach).
It is really hard to tell what is going on without seeing the logs ourselves, and I would not go by overall damage by itself. WoL will tell you how many hits, average, and Total for both normal and Crits. These number can often help in determining what is happening. What are the numbers?
