First time posting and I have to say this is a really awesome forum.
Now to the question, Is it an dps increase if you run out from the boss and then jump back in to the boss so gain Stampede and ravage?

From Jan.5 Hotfixes:

Haste buffs no longer reduce the effectiveness of haste on resource regeneration rates (energy, focus, etc.).
Yay?

Out of curiosity, what piece of t11 are we looking at dropping?

At first, I thought the helm was a clear choice to drop. It is itemized without Crit or Hit, where all of the other pieces have at least one.

However, I also see that [Flame Pillar Leggings] is a very nice pair of leggings. This forced me to ponder which would be the ideal T11 piece to drop.

Upon looking at GuildOx's number crunching (using the link in the OP) I found that:

2649.31726 ([Power Generator Hood]) - 2509.02246 ([Firelord's Hood]) = 140.2948

2993.6709 ([Flame Pillar Leggings]) - 2844.05158 ([Firelord's Leggings]) = 149.61932

This would give dropping the T11 legs a slight advantage. However, I would love it if someone could run a REAL test or direct me to a test that has already be done.

Thanks =)

Drop the helm if you can pick up Sinestra's helm.

Hey!

I got a question, yes I know it's been asked millions of times, however.. math aint my strongest side.

How much haste should I aim for if I got 2 / 3 NP and goblin? Is it around 520?

I just want to make sure

Could someone be kind enough to tell me how much haste I should have if;

A ) I got 3 / 3 NP + goblin racial and a SP
B ) I got 2 / 3 NP + goblin racial and a SP
C ) I got 2 / 3 NP + goblin racial
D ) I got 3 / 3 NP + goblin racial

or point me to a link that can explain it simple without any math needed :/

Tanking Helm better than DPS Helm?

I recently looted Daybreaker Helm - Item - World of Warcraft a tanking helm with nearly 100 strength more than the blue I had equipped at that time. After defeating Chogall this evening I looted Helm of Maddening Whispers - Item - World of Warcraft. I cannot help but notice the generous amount of strength allocated to the tanking helm and with a -60 strength exchange when swapping between the two I simply cannot tell which is better. I am running 2h UH currently and the stats weights have strength valued at 3+ while any other rating is .7 at best. Any advice on the matter would be appreciated.

If you're an engineer or if you have access to heroic content, dropping the helm in favor of the engineering helm or the sinestra helm are your best options.

If you desperately need hit, you can choose to get the offset chest from nefarian.

Now when you gem your items the Tier head+offset legs gain 30 crit and 80 hit but the tier legs + offset hood gain 20 int, 40haste and 50 mastery.

And you can reforge both 2 items from the tier legs+off set combination (haste to crit and mastery to hit), whereas you can only reforge the tier head due to better itemization on the offset legs.

When you combine gemming and reforging, it would be more likely to go for the tier legs with the offset hood.

meta and enchant

I was wondering what meta to use until they change the [Chaotic Shadowspirit Diamond] to it's original requirements and saw that in de OP it's suggested to use [Destructive Shadowspirit Diamond].

Isn't it better to use [Fleet Shadowspirit Diamond] in combination with the +50 mastery on boots enchant since mastery is valued higher then crit?
At least as long as you use 2 yellow gems already to match socket bonuses.

It seems that those 2 helms are pretty equal. Using the values from UH main post:

Daybreaker Helm:
341 str - 1053,69
40str (gem) - 123,6
67,2 haste (reforged from tanking stat) - 50,4
168 mastery - 40,32
Total: 1268.01

Helm of Maddening Whispers
281 str - 868.29
40 str (gem) - 123.6
crit 168 - 104.16
haste 228 - 171
Total: 1267.05

EDIT: since PTR notes state that Unholy Might gets reduced from 10%STR to 5%STR then I'd suspect that STR dps value will drop and the dps helm will pull ahead. Haven't done any calculations though.

I'm hearing conflicting reports on how I should gear and gem. On one hand I frequently hear that an excess of Hit is not a bad thing and is preferential with some gear. On the other hand I hear that anything beyond 8 percent is a waste and stats should be put towards Crit(although this case really just comes from one user on the Warriors Blizzard forums). What really is the ideal way here? Is there a cut and dry answer?

At this point I'm geared up somewhere in the middle, but if some retuning of my gear would help me I'm up for it. Gear and gem more for Crit or Hit?

Hey there,

So I've been wondering some things for a while and I'd really appreciate it if I could get some help on this.

Whats the best thing to do reforging wise?

At the moment I've almost reforged all into expertise and hit rating. I've hit the expertise cap (781) and I have about 1200 hit rating. But some of my rogue friends reforge almost everything into mastery.. What's the best thing to do?

Thanks in advance.

Why exactly is hit rated higher than crit (for fire mages specifically, but ever, really)? It seems like crit is the all around better stat. 1% hit and 1% crit both increase total damage by 1%, but 1% of hit only helps on mobs that are so many levels higher than you. 1% crit helps on all mobs all the time. I know that lacking, say 10% hit means that you'll miss 10% of the time, but if 10% of your attacks do double damage, it evens out, right? It seems like logically, crit is an all around better stat. Also, it seems like crit is WAY better than haste, because 1% haste gives you 1% total damage output on spells with casting times (and, after a point, 1 more tic on a dot), but not all spells have them, meaning 1% crit affects more (all) spells.

Is it because, maybe, 100 hit gives more hit than 100 crit gives crit? Let me try that sentence again. I'm making up numbers, but is it because 100 hit gives 1.1% hit, and 100 crit give 0.9% crit? Something like that?
