thats not enough, especially not until later raid tiers where we can actually be hit capped.

About RS->Runes, its not the sole reason obviously, but it adds up, you're trading 1 DS which heals for about the same as 1 DC, so you can use 2 DCs, 3 at best and you are and you are most likely going to have your healers over-healing you by then.

I Have LB spec'd, and i find myself using it only when my healers die. I dont think I've wipe because my healers got oom, but just last night we wiped twice for missed Mind Freeze.

Anyway, ill keep LB for a few more raids before i make my mind.

Cant seem to find a definite answer on this one anywhere.

At level 85, what stats does intellect give for Crit, Mana Regen, Mana Pool, Spellpower. Anyone know once and for all?

Absolutely, it provides the best bonuses of any Metagem and there's no need to go out of your way when gemming, because it only requires 3 reds.

Basically if you ever come across the thought that smoke bomb might work on an encounter to avoid something, don't. One of the things that I do is basically pop smoke bomb on every encounter just for fun and talk about how useless it is, it has so far never worked to avoid a single mechanic on any of the encounters thus far.

On an unrelated note, how much value is attributed to weapon speed right now? I gathered that the slower, the better is still in effect, but to what extent? Are there actual numbers, or is there a rule of thumb? For example is a slower but lower ilvl weapon always inferior to a higher ilvl weapon? I remember a time when a blue weapon could be better than epic, not so long ago.

(Also, I speculate that with the new mastery, weapon speed will increase in value, won't it?)

So if I am reading this correctly because of the 5% from netherwind and the 5% from raid buff and because of the pyromaniac talent bug we are already past the haste cap so we should be reforging all haste for crit/hit?

Pyromaniac Bug: There is currently a major, helpful bug with the Pyromaniac talent. Placing just one point into Pyromaniac will give you a permanent, free 5% Haste - even if you have 0 DOT's present on any targets. Furthermore, you will still get an additional 5% Haste (+10% total) when you have DOT's on three targets. Until this bug is fixed, temporarily adjust all builds to include placing just ONE point into Pyromaniac.

At 85, 648.91 Intellect gives 1% Crit, 1 Intellect increases mana by 15 and spellpower by 1. It's doesn't give any mana regen for mages any more since Cataclysm.

I thought we had already determined that interrupts no longer missed. Combat logs showed that secondary effects could still be avoided (silence for X seconds, damage, etc), but the interrupt itself never missed. Maybe I misunderstood, can anyone confirm either way?

Edit: Nevermind, I somehow skipped a page. Seems this was fixed.

The Figurine - Demon Panther dropped for me while I was Enhance specced and doing my TBP dailies. AS a side note both the caster JC trinkets also dropped while I was Enhance specced and also while doing my TBP dailies.

I do believe for most of these calculations they are not including the pyromaniac bug because that will be fixed eventually and you can't count on it. Also Netherwind presence is now 3% and raid buff is 5% so i beleive that is what is being calculated off of for the soft haste cap.

I got a few short questions:

1. What's the difference between arcane dps in raids and fire dps? How much bigger dps do fire mages? (I'd like to stay as arcane, I like it more, but I wonder if I'll have decent dsp)

2. What's the most important for arcane mages - haste, mastery or crit?

3. Are there any raid buffs or something to increase hit cap, or I have to reforge all items and gem/ench just to have 17% hit rating?

4. What's the rotation for arcane?

First off - thanks for putting together this amazing thread


Secondly - I'm curious what thoughts are on our 4pc set bonus. I'm a few points from the gloves and was just wondering what opinions people had. I feel somewhat annoyed with some of the stat choices for our tier and feel that there are many other pieces that would be better than the tier. Even when simming, I've found that using the Proto-Handler's Gauntlets are better than the tier, as well as the Leggings of Lethal Force. Obviously our 2 set bonus is much better than our 4 - Soooo I'm basically just wondering what others have thought about doing.
