Simple Rotation Question

I am leveling my DK and I am currently at lvl 68. I have been unholy since I began. I have followed the listed spec in the beginning of the unholy dps forum. I am also following the rotation. I have run into issues with the rotation in regards to threat. Rotation on AoE groups (3 or more) goes like such: diseases up, DnD, SS, DC. Why am I pulling aggro? I would like to know that I am simply dealing with a bad tank and not doing something fundamentally wrong. If I am at fault please advise.

With Bone Shield charges going up to 4 from 3 does it merit discussion of the value of avoidance and Bone Shield uptime?

It may be a DPS increase, but it sure isn't prudent to leave LB up on the target that has the shield up. 3 of the Omnitrons will cause an AOE to the raid if you damage the shield enough which should be avoided, and Arcanatron will stack his haste buff quicker and more spellsteals or dispells will be needed. The Arcanatron scenario isn't as bad as breaking the shield on the other Omnitrons, but there is no sense in making another raid members job a pain in the butt because you want to do more damage with LB.

Has anyone considered using the resto tier gloves [Handwraps of the Raging Elements] along with ele chest [Hauberk of the Raging Elements] which would end up giving more haste?

Diminishing returns vs avoidance

Okay i have been reading on the forum and from what i have read no where have i see it say if its diminishing returns or the overall parry/dodge you calculate when doing the 102.4% threshold! If some one could stop my insanity of confusion that would be awsome!

Look at the stickied FAQ thread, this is more of a theorycraft discussion.

I am curious about some of the nuances of Destruction and was hopeful I could get some answers here. Do you want to maintain the ISF buff 100% of the time, or do you just want to make sure it's effecting all your cast times/dots. For example, there are ~2.5 seconds left on the ISF buff and you still have a stack of Backdraft. Would I cast Soul Fire so that it would land at the appropriate time to refresh it almost immediately? Or would I cast an incinerate then cast SF, with ~1 sec left on the buff? I ask this because I'm curious if maintaining 100% percent uptime on ISF is what the OP meant by "keep it up always" or if he meant make sure it's effecting everything.

Thanks for your time!

Ok so I've read all the above, and the previous fire Cata post, and I'm at a loss. I specced fire and was only normally around 10-12k dps with 2-3rd on 5 man heroic and 6-8 in 25m. Since the 10th or there abouts I've dropped to 14-15 in 25m... I havent changed my rotation, has the haste played a mean game with the dps I do?

I LB, spam FB (glyphed for the crit) and with molten/reforge/Fbglyph/raidbuff im sitting at 33-34% Crit(with FB's, 28-29% with scorches). After spamming FB for the pyro, i refresh if I need to the LB, and light off my Combust... Then I usually am at 70-75% mana, pop gem, and Scorch spam until i have about 6 seconds left on LB, then i spam FB again to proc the pyroblast... IDK why but I've dropped from 10-12k to 8-9.5k Am I doing something wrong? or should I do some more reforging from the crit to mastery... Im enchanted up and gemmed... Just want to be better than I presently am.

Tried to create a balance of hit/int/haste on the gems to try and hit the softcaps.

With regards to "Enforce Gem Requirements". Is it possible to have the optimizer enforce the metagem requirements and not enforce regular gear gem requirements? For example, if activating my metagem means I put a pure blue or green gem in a red slot, can the optimizer do this while still keeping the metagem requirements, if I have enforce gem requirements checked?

I don't care if a ring has a blue gem in a red slot. I do care if my metagem becomes inactive because optimizer felt it needed to put a red gem there instead of a blue in order to activate the metagem. Does unchecking enforce gem requirement also stop optimizer from required activation of the metagem?

So guys regarding Mastery ... What now ? I think we'll all agree that right now Haste is our most interesting stat to work on at least until the thresholds are reached ... Then crit, and at the bottom mastery, being really the last of our priorities in terms of stuffing. But at the 4.0.6, we know that Mastery will be buffed.

How are you going to deal with this change ? Do you think that it's enough to make Mastery an interesting stat for us ? Are you going to work on it to make it your secondary stat right after Haste, or will it remain for you the least important stat ? Will you continue to more or less ignore it like it's the case right now for Destros, or, will you add some to your stuff even if it remains your last priority ?

Night elves have the best overall mitigation. 10% damage reduction for 10 seconds every 2 minutes only averages out to a .83% reduction on you already mitigated value, and that is actually less helpful if you have high avoidance. The Night Elf racial is a constant 2% extra avoidance, which comes out to much higher than 2% on your already mitigated value, because it interacts well with the avoidance you already have. For example, at my gear (mostly heroic blues) it is worth about 4% reduction on my already mitigated damage.

The only advantage to the dwarf racial is that it's reliable during the duration in which it is active, and that you can activate it when you need it most. The Night Elf racial may not ever give an extra miss when you really need it. That probably won't make up for the huge difference in effectiveness though.

There's still a case to be made for draenei, as the new Gift of the Naaru restores enough health that it may in some cases be competitive with the amount of damage that a Night Elf would have prevented (and again, it's way more reliable). But it has issues in that some of the healing may go to waste (getting topped off while it's up, or having a healing related debuff when it is used). Of course, that healing will also give you a bit of threat (I think) and you have the hit racial which is certainly worth some threat.

My feeling is that Night Elves still tend to have the best mitigation, but draenei might be better all around if you use Gift intelligently. Dwarves should stick to being hunters.
