So what should be the stat priority for a raid?

Int>Haste>Crit/Mastery>Spirit?

Hey everyone,

I am new to assassination and I have a few questions...

1) How much expertise should I have? I know the cap is 26, and the guide says I shouldn't stack any, but is there a minimum number I should have? Right now I am at 4/4, is that alright?

2) My average ilvl is 350, and I am pulling around 10k dps unbuffed on the raiding dummy. Does this sound normal or should I be doing more dps?

Thanks for any input guys, I am really trying to master this whole assassination thing =]

Yeah.. these lil adds hit pretty hard and you will be only happy seeing block and avoids when you could get hit for 30+k from 6-9 adds.. I dont think there is any at all raid where we have problems with agro to stack threat stats. Thats just a bad idea, loosing some % of avoid to get the same % of dps. DD are for damage, healer sfor heals and tanks for "Not to give boss hit anyone else in raid"

Hypothetically if crit suddenly became the best stat then everyone would gear/gem/enchant for crit to optimize their dps. However in truth the real determining factor for EJ ret paladin forum members wouldn't be their knowledge of the class, but rather the rng loot that drops week after week while farming bosses. If you didn't get your hypothetical crit gear drops then your knowledge of the class does nothing for your actual dps when compared to someone who got lucky with the loot table.

Making every stat relatively equal may lead to bland gearing choices, but given that every change to the spec is put to the mathematical grindstone it's not like there has ever been much of a decision (unless you count being at the mercy of a the rng loot table a decision). With the addition of reforging the individual stats of a piece of gear also lose a lot of importance when compared to previous expansions. The homogenizing of our dps rotation, like it was in wrath, is a much bigger threat to the difference of an average ret paladin and a great one then gear selection at this point in the game.
I agree, gearing choices aren't nearly as important as rotation choices. Whilst gearing has always been relatively easy for those who know where to look for, having a rotation in which whatever we hit results in almost the same is almost insulting for those who can actually pay attention to all the different procs and situations and would come up as better players, but in fact cannot due to the system's limitations.

The ptr' changes to SoT stacikng will address the issues with dynamic fights, I hope; however, i really don't see any positive changes to our burst/sustained DPS balance mechanics, and GoAK would be the best subject to such. There is no trouble with its design in general, but the difference between our damage with or without it is way too large.
Not to mention our aggro, which is somewhat high. Even though i don't put out as much DPS as other melee classes, aggro balance on burst phases can be very stressful even now, when tanks didn't (or can't yet) build enough agro on the target.

An obvious solution would be to nerf STR stacking from GoAK, but increase the duration (by some deep-placed Retribution talent) of the "pet".
Also, some passive reduction of our threat level would be fine, we don't have any since the 4.0.1 and the removal of Fanatism.
And as I said, this will only drastically increase with 4.0.6 as it is now on the PTR, with the new Mastery contributing. Whenever we get the procs (Art of War, Divine Purpose), cooldowns and HP we can output some seriously high burst DPS, however this significantly drops in all other periods. More balance is needed in sustained HP generation & damage/burst HP generation & damage as I previously stated, for quite a few issues would arise otherwise.
Anyway, a passive reduction of threat level would be certainly welcome: I'm finding myself more and more spamming BoS on my character, because tanks can't always build aggro fast enough at start or after phase changing, and if I don't spam skills/spells as soon as I possibly can the DPS will suffer.

As expertise is one of the weakest stats (see raiding FAQ in this very same forum), it is not recommanded to try to reach the cap.

Drawback is on some fights with a strategy implying to fight in front of the boss. Loads of parries.

CoF vs Elemental Precision

Did you account for the 2/3rd gained hit from spirit from the chest enchant? (20 spi)
I know its minischule but if OP speculation about a new nightmare tear coming into the fray at some point, one can perhaps gain enough spirit to save a reforge to hit at some point with the talent.

Also does the Elemental Precision scale with buffs like a BoK or GoW %-based increase? By this I ask if the amount of spirit gained from the %-based increase on gear/enchant-obtained spirit will ad to the hit pool.
Ex 20 all stats chest echant: Will a 5% BoK give you 1 extra hit? (situation with 3/3 elemental precision)

Also it allows some flexibility on the bracer enchant area, since you might aswell get 50 spirit instead of 50 hit, if trying to reach the hit cap and still gain a fun little out of combat extra mana regen

According to all the tests I just got done posting, the imp is the best single target dps pet for all classes on the PTR, especially in light of the Demon Soul:Imp change.

I checked the Feral thread for item comparison on trinkets, and I understand that the initial guide is to get in to raiding with. We've been going through the Bastion of Twilight and had [Unheeded Warning] drop for us on numerous occasions. We were trying to figure out who to give it to, since our rogue is assassination, she didn't want it. We thought it would be good for Feral cats, but I haven't been able to find much on the subject.

How good is this trinket currently versus other trinkets?

Fluid Death or 4th set piece?

I'm leaning towards buying my Wind Dancer Gloves to where I will have my 4th set piece (I am currently not wearing my Wind Dancer's Spaulders); however, my gut tells me to use my Valor points on the fluid death prior to getting the gloves regardless of the set bonus.

Your thoughts?

In sum: Wind Dancer's Gloves or Fluid Death?

Race

I was wonder what the best Horde race is for a shadow priest?? Im currently a troll and love having the berserking every 3 minutes, but is it more beneficial to be say a goblin?

I had thought I saw a previous post about different races but looking through all the old posts I couldnt locate one
