Haste
So with th changes on the ptr to stat weights especially haste, are we going to be just using 1 filler or 2 between crusader strikes? How are most people doing it now, new to ret sorry if this has been answered already

Hit/Expertise Caps etc
First reply/post here, but been a lurker for several years, and EJ has never steered me wrong when it comes to excellent discussion and theorycrafting.
That being said, I have questions regarding the hit/expertise caps with DK tanks. I have been a tank since vanilla, and have tried out all the classes. Mostly Warrior, but since LK I've strictly tanked with the DK. Now aside from all other stats, I read back awhile that hit was the most important stat to cap, because a miss = no threat. Next, expertise to 26, and then everything else.
However, I'm noticing on almost all the 359 gear I've seen (including tier) there is almost no hit rating. Is Blizz trying to tell me something? I know we can reforge, and I do to reach the cap, but it still seems I'm sacrificing a good deal of other useful stats on gear just to get capped. As it is, I'm a Dranei with the racial AND hit food just to get capped, and my exp is exactly 26.
Does anyone else have thoughts on this? Is getting all the way capped negligible? Is EXP still important, or can I skimp on it under 26?
Edit : I also locked something I read into my brain awhile back *not* to gem for Hit, so I never do, but lately I almost have to...

What is the general thought on professions with 4.0.6 looming? It seems to me tailoring and engineering pull ahead of the other professions now right? Or is JC still better than one of those 2?

I think this is a good point, and that it'd be a good idea to give the stat weights for the 359 data set, as well:
| Stat | | 359 | | 372 |
|---|
| Int | | 3.3528 | | 3.1468 | | SP | | 2.2767 | | 2.4011 | | Hit | | 2.0435 | | 2.2689 | | Crit | | 1.1578 | | 1.2664 | | Haste | | 1.0628 | | 1.6104 | | Mastery | | .9993 | | 1.1239 |
That's a pretty big swing for haste.

There is quite a bit of discussion on this issue within the thread. My personal experience is this - because of vengeance; once it gets rolling, threat is less of an issue which makes hit in general unimportant.

On live servers, is the haste of a DoT such as Immolate determined at the start of its cast, or when the DoT is applied to the target? ISF and Immolate occasionally overlap in such a way that when I begin to cast Immolate I do not have the ISF buff, but by the end of the cast I do (due to a SF being mid-air when I begin the cast).

Thanks for the replies. Based on your info I'll keep things as they are and not bother playing with exchanging haste for expertise.

I had been working under the assumption that casting envenom sooner would often result in a little lost up time on rupture. I trust you guys implicitly and will adjust my rotation and make it work the way it should.

I find it lets me ride the dps line pretty hard while still maintaining primary focus on the interrupt rotation.
The DPS gain isn't primarily from the 10 extra energy...the DPS gain comes from being able to be more aggressive in your rotation because of the huge decrease in time spent unable to skull bash. Remember, DPS is heavily affected by raid mechanics, so "number theory" is only so valid, and I strongly suspect that while the blue PVP gloves would do worse than the epic rep gloves in rawr (obviously), in real world on interrupting fights (obviously not in 25 man situations) they will come out ahead for all but the people who have flawless rotation.
Thoughts?

I setup a macro for Skull Bash that uses Tigers Fury before it's cast. I've found this one especially helpful on fights like Halfus Wyrmbreaker. I can spend less time focusing on my energy and more time on my rotation.

Guys, there is a bug in which I can't copy any character or premade character to the PTR (I believe it happens to everyone who joined the Beta).. But I'd really like some news about this DA bug.
So, is DA still not stacking on PTR?

Understanding, of course, that no changes are final until a patch goes live, are there any solid bottom line estimates as to how the current PTR changes impact unholy overall DPS? How much of a decrease it might end up being?

I would be happily proved wrong though.

Your able to ragepump with it aswell, besides dont think you will achive more DPS by using any of the other glyphs. (Rage = more abillities = more dps). The other glyphs got some nice effects aswell but nothing that will increase damage.

Loving this site so much... I got a couple of concerns I have changed my gems/socket bonuses to the following below. In your opinions would this net me a DPS increase(seems yes according to the stat weight), not sure why but I feel I kind of lost DPS.
Battleplate of Ancient Kings
40str
20 str + 20 haste
Socket Bonus: 20 haste
changed yellow to 40 str.
Gain of 20str over 40 haste.
---------------------------------
Corefire Legplates
20 str + 20 haste
20 str + 20 haste
Socket Bonus: 20 haste
changed both yellows to 2 x 40Str gems
Gain of 40Str over 60 haste.
So overall I gained 60 Str and lost 100 haste.
Appreciate the help.
