How wise would it be to utilise gear without any natural spirit. I ask this because of the grey area between items suited to DPS vs healers.
My personal view is that with Holy Concentration not having natural spirit on your items could be rather dangerous. I'm after some opinions for those who are in near 359 gear and how vital it is to have natural spirit.
So I've been using Rockslicer as my tanking weapon recently. Am I missing something or is this the best pre-raid DK tanking weapon? Not seen it mentioned in any guides, but the Agi grants more dodge than the Str on better DPS weapons grats parry, and it's not like I need more threat. Plus it has the most mastery of any heroic weapon we can use. I've just came back to playing after a long break though, so it's possible I'm missing something and it makes me slightly nervous that no guides seem to mention this.
From what I understand on normal conditions Fireball is better then hard casting Pyroblast
though not all fights have normal conditions, on some fights we get a huge Haste buff (usually situational and just for a short period but still) lowering our Fireball cast time to be below GCD.
My question is if my Fireball cast turns into a 0.8 sec cast, is it worth hard casting Pyroblast instead?
are there other situation where hard casting Pyroblast is preferable (apart from use of ignite)
Run speed has always been a dps increase over similar options for any fight that requires any type of movement. Seeing as how most fights this expansion have some kind of movement involved it will always be an increase.
Will try again to post how a mage can top dps at Chogall. Got banned last time by a warlock calling my retarded or something. I guess that he could not see beyond his/her intelligence.
@Chogall: A tactic to beat the soft enrage timer, 4 adds, it is possible to allow yourself to be corrupted, 100 stacks, in order to get the buff Corruption: Absolute. That will make you not able to be healed at all but your spells are instant and does 100% more damage. It will make you own the dps with instant pyroblasts.
However since you can not be healed you need to avoid damage. Chogall cast his shadow orders which is a aoe damage that you need to ice block. To get out the most you should survive 2 Shadow Orders phases.
Logs where at least the top 3 mages are using this strategy, just to prove to the mage wanna be warlock that banned me last time that either it is not retarded or at least that retarded people can dps.
If Immolate is cast when the caster has a haste buff and is then extended with Fel Flame, will it extend the haste buff on the Immolate as well. And then if it is re-extended via subsequent Fel Flames, will it maintain the extra ticks?
I just can't figure out how much haste rating I should be sitting at. I've had a rule to stay at lower 900s haste rating, just enough to make CS take 1.6 seconds to shoot. Playing around with FD they want me to sit at 1001 haste rating for optimum DPS, even though my CS still takes 1.6 seconds to shoot. I'm obviously not worried about solo DPS but raid DPS. Can someone tell me if I should stick with FD on this one?
If you have problems with the aberrations in the green phases and you dont need the extra damage elseways ( we had to wait for his second greenphase) precasting immolate on the aberrations is not a bad thing to do (obviously speaking of heroic maloriak :P)
Long time reader, first time poster here. Just wondering what you guys think about dropping Pyromaniac and picking up Improved Fire Blast. With many bosses being single target, Pyromaniac has little use. Since crits are often rare, perhaps using fire blasts that benefit from the 8% more crit from improved fire blast could help? Also, +10 yards of range is nice.
However, is using fire blast as part of your rotation impractical? Maybe use it only after you've just crit with a fireball to increase chances of a Hot Streak proc?
