So Crushl, while I also favour avoidance like you do, your comparison of 40% shield with 10%-15% avoidance is far from correct.
Yup it is. Atm he's wearing 2 stamina trinkets, so its easier to compare the stats (i still don't have the avoid trinkets yet). Its about 5-6% avoid vs ~7 Points of Mastery. I'm going for Darkmoon + Tol Barad Trinkets since stamina doesn't seem to be a problem anywhere on normal modes. Going for some hardmodes next week (I'll have those trinkets by then) and have a look about the damage spikes on avoid focus.
I havent really played my paladin much since Kara was the main raid out there. But I started him up again and wanted to get him leveled and geared up. I was wondering if it was still feasible to use a spellcaster weapon for the spelpower boost? or if it was better to use a melee weapon. I havent really seen anything on this in the places I have read. has anyone crunched the dps numbers on the difference?
I redid my sheet and calculations for the newest patch information. The results:
1. Zealotry and AW can be combined, or not. The difference in dps varies from -30 to +40 depending on the exact timing and shows no consistent trend either way. I suspect the best possible use is to combine them during the last 20 seconds of GoAK and then to just use on cooldown after that.
2. Hurricane is still by far the best trinket from normal modes and slightly better than hardmodes, even after the nerf. It's proc should still be worth 450 dps after the patch (into 20k dps) which is over 200 str, much better than any other trinket. It is BIS until the next raiding tier comes out as far as I can tell.
3. The best rotation I could find was:
However! The difference between moving HoW/Exo up and down through TV/CS was virtually nonexistent. Into 20k dps the difference between those rotations was less than 30 dps, which is so far below the margin of error that is can be safely ignored. Basically the different rotations are closer together than ever before so just make sure you use all the good attacks (HoW, Exo, Inq, CS, TV) before the bad ones (HW, Judge, Cons) and you are playing optimally. More precision than that isn't possible due to variances in gear/situation and modelling limitations.
4. Stat ranking. As best as I can tell, using the rotation described above, our stat weights:
Str - 222
Crit - 82
Haste - 80
Mastery - 82
Mastery goes down a little if you push Exo/HoW above CS/TV in priority, but only a few points. Haste is, as always, variable and changes noticeably with small tweaks to the model so the value for it is very challenging to set with any precision.
Page 20 of this very thread, I'm not aware of anything that has changed this info.
Top of your page, the only way to get 363 sp from Bell, is
Instead, you should use a 97s Interval for this trinket (simC used 106.9, not sure why), most cases it has a 20.6% uptime. I've been using Mirror as a 115s Interval (simC uses 112), as in most cases it has a 17.3% uptime.
However, after reading further into this, SimC stat weights are much different from mine.
Ive been using these stat weights;
Int 3.54 Sp 2.55 Hit 2.66 Crit 2.155 Haste1.375 Mast1.37
Which would put
Bell at 1927
Mirror at 1865
Seems like SimC's numbers change on a daily basis, even tho its simulated stats dont, but since SimC seems to be the accepted method of determining DPS, I can't be the odd one out. Using their numbers
Int 3.3055 Sp 2.4683 Hit 2.4494 Crit 1.4769 Haste 1.4553 Mast 1.2501
As you can tell by the numbers above, this is even extremely different from the stats listed on pg5, where I came up with the list.
This would however put
Bell at 1644
Mirror at 1722
By yours and my own standards, and until stat weights change again (maybe tomorrow!) mirror is the better trinket in SimC.
Quick Question about the haste caps. The chart says to aim for 515.4 Haste rating to get to 12.5% for renew....which according to the math and my character sheet is 4% Haste. This + 3% from talents + 5% from raid = 12%
Where is the other .5% coming from to gain the extra renew tick? What am I missing?
From testing the number works and does give 5 ticks, im just confused by the math I guess.
On AW don't you have to consider it actually being a 10% bonus to str? Since it's 20% to damage and each point of str gives ~2 dps, so you have to cut the 20% in half to see the raw str you get in reality.
This should put both types of trinket closer following your logic.

Sorry if this is not the proper place to ask but is it possible for someone to compile a BiS profile (4.0.6+) on chardev? I know Graylo has a pretty good loot ranking list on his blog but when it comes to picking and choosing decisions become much more challenging.
