Please help if you can.
Hi everyone I am very new to this forum and after a couple of weeks being here in Uld. I've decided to post because my guild believes I'm not putting out as much dps as I should be. My shaman's name is Müdbone (alt+0252 for the u). Right now were doing the Kologarn encounter. My dps is running about 3.5k. Damage done is around 848k, we wiped last attempt. The rotation I'm trying to use is flame shock, lava burst, chain lightning, and then 2x lightning bolt back to chain lightning, and then lightning bolt, and then finally lava burst. The first rotation is fine but the second rotation cycle the cool downs do not fall like they should. Just wondering if anyone can offer any help at all.

Cheers guys, I'll up the gear then. See how I go.
@admin: begging for hand-holding...? I figured I just asked a simple question that i didnt have the answer to, nor could find in-game on wow. The Destruction spreadsheet on the Destro thread is broken or doesnt work for whatever reason, so i came to simple questions to get a simple answer ^.-
I was also trying to be polite about it. The name elitist Jerks seems to be a fitting title.

Hit Rating
I am still slightly confused on what the real hit cap rating is. An old guildy (ele shaman) said it was 14% even with Elemental Percision which is about 368 Hit Rating. Then a new guildy tells me its only 287 with elemental percision. Also I have looked on EJ and Wowhead and still cant find a real solid answer, my question is...
What is the actual amount of hit you need to be capped if you have Elemental Percision?

"Elemental Focus Stone" now gives Your harmful spells have a chance to increase your haste rating by 522 for 10 sec. (Old - 522 Spell Power)
So, will you think this is good or bad? Imo, it could be cool for 0/41/30 and affliction spec. but with deep destro wont this = suck with backdraft and heroism?

Bartter2003, check TTT: Elemental Shaman - Hit Rating, as there are varying hit caps depending on race / talents / group composition.

Seriously, I fail to see how an obviously incoming nerf that makes the next tier of gear an actual upgrade is trying to make people switch specs. Oh, but in your haste to be first to break the news in every thread, you forgot to copy/paste this post to the frost dps thread also, so you might want to remedy that.
|
Yeah because nerfing the T7 instead of properly itemizing and budgeting (read: Designing better) the T8 set was a brilliant move... I hate how Blizzard always does this, instead of fixing what's broken they nerf something else "to bring it back in line". The T7 set was fine, the T8 should have been properly designed in the first place so no nerfs were required to make it an actual upgrade.

Since 0/41/30 scales better with haste then with spellpower, it will be a minor increase there. For all other specs I've seen, spellpower is better and therefore it's bad.

simple question
Hello all !
My arcane mage has not a very good stuff and I'd like to know which stats I need to improve in first.
--> Spellpower is the best to up my DPS I think... ?
--> Haste or Crit ?
--> How much spririt... ?
I have like 540 in spirit, and almost 20K mana with the mage's intell buff. Do you think I have to use Mage Armor (with glyphe) or Molten armor and maybe have to use Evocation ?
I'm in 57/3/11 btw.
Thanks for answers.

I was frost from day 1 with my DK but after 3.1 with the new 2 disease rotations I found it difficult to maintain any kind of rotation thru fights that required a decent amount of movement even with 2/2 epidemic because the rotation is so tight, I didn't have my 4pc 7.5 bonus at the time but I do now. I was frustrated with the drop in my DPS so I switched to blood which has been a bit more forgiving than frost was. Is this typical for most people or did I not give myself enough time to get familiar with the rotations? If this is a typical problem, how have some of you modified your rotations during these types of fights? I've always enjoyed frost and would love to go back to it again. I was actually looking to give the 1 disease HB rotation a try to see if that was any easier.
I was running a 12/52/7 spec at the beginning of 3.1 when I was having my problems.
Thanks for any help.

We had a go at 10-man deconstructor hard mode last night, all i have to say is wow... The increased dmg of tantrum coupled with the sparkly things (7k hits at random all over the raid) makes it really harshto heal. That and having the boss go from 5 million to 12.5 million hp. Makes this really tough. We gave up in the end, managed to get iron council quasi-hard done though! Any advice from anyone on deconstructor hard mode would be great. Cheers.

Sorry, but pretty sure that the moratorium on hard mode discussion (as well as Yogg-Saron and Algalon talk) is still up.

Arikah runs the thread if he says it can be posted here then fine. Flame the people who don't post their reference like fight length and mob type etc. However it is much more efficient to have it here in the thread for open discussion. This way it is in front of multiple people not just one to determine if there was user error. It took me 2 hours of tweaking with gear in rawr to find the bis I had to deselect possible upgrades from the list edit gemming at times even. It is not like you push a button and rawr gives you the best answer.
Honestly right now there are not many Ret issues to test or discover only mere speculation of what our future changes will be. The discussion of which does not really belong into this thread because it has nothing to do with min/maxing Ret dps.
I am sorry if you don't like reading those posts but I did not enjoy reading the 2-3 pages of pvp discussion because someone's ret shammy team was getting owned by rouge/disc. Yet those posts were not deleted nor where the posters banned
If there is some other issue so urgent to discuss that needs complete undivided attention on these forums so that bis should just be pmed to arikah or someone else then fine. Like I said we could of had the op post done. you would have no more people posting here their gear list people would not have to bleed over the other spreadsheets and they would be easy to update when we finally discover alagon loot. If you don't like the posts and satisfied with what you find on spreadsheets then just skip the post.
As for the correct gearing path. The BIS list being updated is very important for this. For example. When I first saw Earthshaper I was planning to grab it, but now that I know Voldrethar will be BIS meaning I wont have a weapon covered with hit I deemed it better for my guild and my dkp to just grind a Season 6 weapon to hold me over until one drops. Meanwhile someone else gets the mace who may benefit from it more. Gear progression paths can be planned responsibly. You cant just say Rawr says this is a temporary upgrade I am going to gun for it. People bypass those more often than not for upgrades they will use as long as possible

Arikah is a long-time visitor to the site that is nice enough to keep the information in the OP up to date. Kaubel is a long-time EJ member with over 18000 posts. I'd lean towards listening to the guy who I don't doubt has the power to get you banned just because he decides he doesn't like you...
The easy fix to all this is to start a new thread for BiS sets, and keep Rawr related posts in the Rawr thread. Once BiS set(s) are agreed upon in the other thread Arikah can post them in the first post here. This thread can then focus on aspects of Ret not related to BiS sets or Rawr, the thread won't be so bloated, and everyone is happy.

For over 2 years of playing WoW I have been holy. I absolutely love and adore holy. However, with the release of Ulduar we were lacking a 2nd tank healer for many runs so I went Disc for the good of the guild. I have surprised myself in that I have come to love it. Not only that, but everytime I switch to Holy for a fight it doesn't last more than a couple of tries. The ability to use shields to give other healers time to heal and single-heal a tank (yes I can keep a tank up by myself with my horrible thoroughput Svena) is amazing.
For awhile I was sad by my position on the healing charts after spending over a year at #1 or 2. But after downloading the GuessedAbsorbs Add-on for Recount it shows that my usefulness to the raid is still top 3 on a very regular basis. On Mimiron last night it actually showed me as #1 by a wide margin with about 400K in guessedabsorbs on our longest try. An additional benefit being I don't run out of mana as quickly as the Holy priests for PoH spam in Phase 2 along with a 2 sec hasted cast time, that's just hot .

I have a question.
The World of Warcraft Armory
that is the armory for my shaman. I was DWing Angry dead cause it seemed the best from the gear I have currently. But after using a sim and testing on a boss training dummy it seems Wraith Strike in the main hand is better for DPS than Angry dead.
using:
Searing totem. (To avoid AOE dmg on target dummies.)
STR / AGI totem
Mana totem
Wind furry totem
Wind furry weapon on Wraith strike
Flame tongue weapon on Angry Dead
Both weapons enchanted with berserking.
When DW Angry dead I had main hand Berserking OH Mongoose, But with out an enchant on Wraith strike and Beserking on Angry dead off hand it still beat out DW of Angry dead.
Any thoughts?
