Recount is the correct in-game source of damage analysis. World of logs is the other commonly-used tool but is not available inside the game. It's true for healers and for tanks that meters don't tell the whole story but for dps it can be a useful tool. If you're lagging behind other dps when you shouldn't be, meters are the only thing that will let you know. There are most likely other mechanics at play in who came out as top damage (perhaps a lot of raid damage has provided the warriors with extra rage or the two dps assigned to add pickups have less time-on-target) but it's a good idea to know how well you're doing. Just don't intentionally pad the meters when it's counterproductive (dpsing halfus instead of a drake).

I'm not sure what you mean by caps. Expertise and hit caps perhaps? You want to get as close to 781 expertise rating as possible without going over. The spell hit cap is 1127 (11%) but is not a priority for combat; haste and expertise are strictly better. There aren't really "complicated math thingamabobs" involved in figuring out hit caps. Unless multiplication isn't your strong suit.

Is RAWR still showing the incorrect amount of armour due to agility or is there some other reason? My in game character panel states i have around 45k armour, and RAWR is showing 55k with no raid buffs. The amount of damage reduction from armour is almost correct though. Is this intentional or due to the previous thick hide bug or agility still being counted in numbers incorrectly?
Also, i have been unable to use my engineering Tinker 'Plasma shield' in the simulation. It appears to reduce my mitigation by around 400,000 instead of increasing my survivability.
Apologies if these are covered elsewhere.
Edited to correct some mistakes

It's really neither the good place nor the good way to ask that kind of question ...
You have plenty of knowledge on the first page of this thread, so please read before posting.
Thanks in advance.

I am wondering if during a sub 25% phase if soul burn+summon imp+ demon soul: imp would be a worthwhile DPS increase, granted things such as heroism and metamorphosis being available as well. I will try it out during raid this week and post my logs as well.

DPS as Holy during Chimaeron enrage phase
Hi, last night my group manage to down Chimaeron 10man (normal) for the first time.
In the last succesful encounter, i was hopeless with very limitted mana during enrage phase. With exorcism being a very high mana cost spell, how should we maximise the dps during enrage phase? That successful attempt was quite a sloppy one in fact with 6 people dead. I was standing there helplessly with limitted mana for a few exorcism and holy shock. So the question is, what do you do as holy to help out during enrage phase? Should i respec into mana reduction talent?

I figured that Redcape weights are for naked toon and then I asked myself - why would I use naked weights to make gear/enchants/etc decisions for a far from naked ret paladin?
Wouldn't it be much more useful for everyone to have weights for a hit/exp capped epic-geared ret?
I took my ret (mastery ~1800, crit ~1200, haste ~800) with Redcape spreadsheet and started adding 300 points to different ratings. Here is results:
STR 2.23
Haste 1.14
Mastery 1.00
Crit 0.95
Oops, seems quite different from what we used to think about values of haste and crit, isn't?
Judging by these results it was obvious that I had not enough Haste in my gearset and too much Crit.
Indeed, I took 3800 points of rating and started to split them in different proportions among Crit/Haste/Mastery.
My benchmark was 20,924 dps @ 1200/800/1800.
After some playing I found several sweet spots, namely:
21,056 400/1300/2100
21,073 200/1200/2400
Which would suggest that our optimal gearing strategy is not simple Mastery > Crit > Haste,
but more in line with 10% Crit / 30% Haste / 60% Mastery.
Would be cool to have colored cube graph for this, may be Redcape is up to it.
Keep in mind that anyone can repeat these results, I've done nothing special, just used Redcape spreadsheet with typical settings for a normal-modes geared ret.
P.S. I wonder if this post will be deleted ...

Is it viable for Duel Wield Frost to attempt for more haste/hit than is let on from your site stat weight?
From personal experience at the begining of the expansion when I stacked Haste>Crit as DW, I was pulling a few K more than I am now although i'm much more geared.
Can [KM] proc due to off hand?
Does haste>crit help the procs since Frost already has multiple auto-crit procs?
Thank you,

Is it viable? I guess that depends on how you define viable. Sure. Is it optimal? No, it is not. Haste is awful for DW. Bottom line.
No, KM does not proc from offhand attacks.
Haste theoretically would result in more KM procs from swinging faster, but I suspect increasing your hit would result in more KM procs faster than haste would.
Trust the stat weights. They are generated with simulators that use multiple iterations of entire fights using optimal rotations and are far more accurate than anecdotal "this is what I noticed when I play" scenarios. If your question goes against the published stat weights, the answer is probably no.

My suggestion would be to use things like Hand of Sacrifice on a tank if they have high HP and agro, and Hand of Protection on low HP casters. Just based purely off gut feeling, we are probably the worst Damage per Mana of all the classes, and so your remaining mana should be used to help other classes still. You could potentially force a situation where you heal with RF on for extra threat, and have dps use threat drops, allowing you to take a death instead of a high dps class.

Why should it be deleted? I think Redcape would either appreciate the info or, if there's somethin wrong, help to find the mistake.
I have also some questions, regarding CD use and Trinkets. I wonder were the randomdrop Trinket from BD, Fury of Angerforge, now appears to be in the ranking, because of the fix it got concerning it's procrate and internal CD. I just got it last wednesday and testet it a little on the dummy. It takes about 30 seconds to ramp up a full stack of it.
Now here are the questions.
1.) Is the trinket better or worse than either DMC:H and HoR (normal) which are my alternatives (or LtS, as i got enough points to buy it)? Personally i think it's a fine piece, if it is a fight with constant infight time. Else, i go with HoR (through reforge i will get up to 28 exp this way, but better this way than 24 with FoA).
2.) If is use the trinket, i pop guardian at 20 seconds into the fight, so that i will have the 5 stacks up right when i got 20 seconds of guardian left (assuming i pop it at the beginning, which would be awful in a fight light magmaw of course). But i thought about the following: I cast Zealotry and when i got 10 seconds left of it, i summon the guardian. Zealotry ends, guardian is stacked up about 10 times and FoA is ready, i use FoA and my synapses from Ingi with wings. Of course, only as long as you can use FoA and synapse together (i think this will be fixed soon).
Would this be a great DPS loss? I KNOW it is better to use Zeal and Wings together (i read here a lot, great work!), but i think the smoother rotation would make up for it as there are no CD' clashes with HoW and TV.

I would like to say that this guide is just awesome! Thanks alot Consider.
I have been playing as tank since i started to play WoW and i used to be a Warrior, so i was checking some DK Tanks and decided to become one... now after some months playing as tank, we have got some fights that need only one tank, so i let our off tank become the main tank so i could DPS...
I still learning alot and i have got some questions, i hope you guys can help me out
1. About trinkets! I could not figure which trinkets would be better to equipe together, between: Darkmoon Card: Hurricane, Heart of Rage, License to Slay or Fury of Angerforge.
2. Before start a fight, lets say i have got 5000 STR so i summon my Ghoul. If in the middle of this same fight i get all my procs running, buffs and so and get my STR up to 10000, it is worth to dismiss my ghoul and summon a new one?
3. When i apply Outbreak (or PS + Icy Touch) with my 5k STR i usually get a damage around 700 per tick and when my str procs it goes up to 1100 dmg per tick so, even if i still have lets say, 20s left on my diseases, it is worth to reapply it so i can get this damage increase?
This is my char: Perpperoni @ Warsong - Game - World of Warcraft could you give me any advice here?
Really new to DPS, any advice would be really welcome.
Thanks alot!!!
PS: Sorry my broken English!

I feel they should remove the debuff from enrage or/and add rage generation to charge, 5mans are all about speed (imo) and making the group wait for the tank to get some rage feels pretty sad. DKs/Paladins don't have this problem, and Warriors can get the rage they need by charging in.

Have been testing and changing my spec over last few days. Was told that focused insight does not increase healing on healing rain however it deff seems to for me atm. could someone else please test. also healing a earthshielded target with riptide, unleash elements, shock then chain is giving 30k+ crits buffed.

Just as a random fact that was interesting for me:
I was one of those tanks 'stacking' mastery, I have, 4tier pieces, and 359 iLvL, meaning, my gear doesn't suck, and it's not perfect either. Anyways..
I decided to 'reroll' stats, and go for Stamina, just for a while, to get my epeen higher on the meters, and as a surprise: At the end of the week, all of 'my' healers told me that I was easier to heal this week.. And one of them said: Well, with more mastery, you still got hit, and had less Health, but with more stamina, you Still get hit, but have more health...
Just a thought...
