Going back over the data I had in fact got some of the ICD data wrong and so I've redone the DPS calculations and have the following table;

Trinket pair - DPS

The trinket data I used in the spreadsheet is:

Trinket - Static Stat Gain - Proc'd Stat Gain Averaged
Apparatus - 383 strength - 383 mastery
Vessel - 383 strength - 385 crit
Essence - 383 mastery - 255 strength
Rage - 321 expertise - 285 mastery
Weight - 312 strength - 285 haste

A few things to note that until these trinkets are modelled in SimC I cannot run a patchwork simulation as I don't have the knowledge to add items to SimC's coding and as such I am averaging all the stat gains of the trinkets and adding them to the ret spreadsheet. Whilst this does give a good estimate of the value of the trinkets against each other and a reasonable look at the possible DPS gains from them it does force a few notes on the trinkets as follows;

Apparatus - This trinket must be used as soon as it off cooldown and 5stacks of Titanic Power must be used every time. This also assumes mastery is your highest rating when raid buffed.
Vessel - This valuation does not take into account the ramp up time of requiring 5 critical melee strikes and the 'buff' must never fall off during the fight.
Essence - This trinket must be used as soon as it comes of cooldown every time.
Rage - Again this trinket must be used as soon as it comes of cooldown every time.
Weight - Again this trinket must be used as soon as it comes of cooldown every time.

Hi I'm looking for some help. My DPS in raids is tragically low and I honestly cannot figure out why. I've been combing through this thread over and over trying to find something that I'm blatantly not doing and I can't come up with anything.

Here's my toon: Azshiri @ Stormreaver - Game - World of Warcraft

And here's a recent parse: WoW Meters Online - Combatlog Replay

Any help is greatly appreciated.

We are talking about a mere 1-400 dps out of 30k+. Non-pet (self only) buffs and reduced pet uptime fights skew the results away from Arcane, but Arcane still has a place at times.

Anyone reading this can take what they will and see what they prefer to use. Since MM damage is quite good, barring unforeseen nerfs, the damage difference isn't that important.

When we actually reach T12/391+ gear we can make a better case that Arcane needs to be improved.

If i was a game-designer on the Blizzard team, as an enh shaman player here is what i would see about shaman aoe :

Step 1 :

Remove Magma totem.

Step 2 :

Change spells thunderstorm and earthquake:

Call of elements: Thunderstorm
Instant 45 sec cooldown
Summons a thunder that pushes enemies and gives you mana. Useful for repelling enemies who are close of you. Share the same cooldown with other techniques of Call of elements.

Call of elements: Earthquake
Instant 45 sec cooldown
You hit the ground, cracking the land beneath your feet. The enemies in melee fall to the ground, unable to act for 3 seconds. The land surrounding you stay unstable during 8 seconds, reducing chance to hit and movement speed of enemies therein by 30%. Share the same cooldown with other techniques of Call of elements.

-> These two spells at the time of impact, would have the same range of damage. This would "fix" a problem with the actual thunderstorm: no more need of the glyph that prevents the bump if you want to use it only to do damage in pve.
-> Transform the irritating aspect of the efficiency of TS in pvp, where a small slope annihilate all the interest, into a choice between these two spells. That makes place for the skill and the knowledge of the player, having to choose the best spell for the situation (land leveling, classes that can come back directly, etc ...).

Step 3 :

Add this spell to ele only :

Volcano
Mana: XXX
channeled
The ground cracks in the selected location, releasing lava projections. The targets in the area take Y damage every seconds. Lasts 10 seconds. Each lava projection put the debuff "Conductive flames" on each target in the location.
"Conductive flames" reduce the penalty of a chain lightning jump by 15%. Stacks up to 5 times. Lasts 10 seconds. A chain lightning jump to an affected target don't reduce the remaining number of jumps. "Conductive flames" disappear after the target receives a Chain Lightning.

Step 4 :

Fire Nova is now an enh only talent, Improved Fire Nova talent removed.
Fire Nova talent placed after the Searing Flames talent. (on the arrow)

Fire nova
Mana: XXX
Consume a searing flame charge on your target to cause a fire nova, dealing Y damage to enemies in Z yards. Damages increase with your Attack Power. Fire nova put the debuff "Conductive flames" on each target in the location.

-> No tab-dotting system for aoe that is, i think, unfun and inefficient for a melee spec.
-> FN is now an enh only talent and then can be balanced around AP to avoid that enh players feel obliged to switch to a caster weapon for aoe phases.
-> Ramp-up system in aoe that make a semi-aoe/multitarget CL a real aoe.
-> No more need of the immobile Magma totem.
-> But there is still a need to put a totem, a totem less problematic for movements.
-> Less binary system for enh that are now chosing between "aoe mode / single-target mode" just depending on the combat : more room and possibilities with that.

I am pretty sure that this changes (if they come that way life)
will meen Crit > Hit > Mastery for SMF.

I meen atm Hit & Mastery are nearly in the same SEP Range.
I run a gear setup with about 12% hit atm, but i'am really sure that
if this changes come life Hit will be the clearly better stat than mastery as SMF.
And Crit by faaaaar the best rating stat.

I'm a MM hunter, and I have a question about haste. What should I be capping it at, and what should I be shooting for as far as SS cast time (unbuffed)? Currently I'm at 1.8s.

DPS spec

I know this is gonna sound really dumb but i need a plain answer. Which is the best single target dps spec for cata? Ive looked at all the forums but i never get a clear answer as the simply best dps spec.

This was brought up in the arms thread and I feel is true.

The overall 4.1 changes seem to be a nerf to fury compared to arms, most likely to normalize arms/fury damage with the new tier of gear, since fury scales much better with almost every stat.

what is the legitimacy of tranquility? ive used it a few times recently when groups start dropping fast and it seems to be working out well for me. with all the oppurtunities for dps to get them selves smacked in cata heroics, and nasty aoe from bosses, do you think its a useful heal now?

Thanks for clearing that up, i reforged and my dps went up atleast 3-4k just by reducing my exp from cap. I'll see what it does to blood but hoping it yields the same result!

Still not getting the numbers I expect.

I've been following this tread and others for the longest time. Until recently I also compared myself to Rakez from Paragon, but now his main spec is Combat. I'm usually near the top or top in my guild runs and I'm doing my rotations correct (to my knowledge).

I'm getting reports of others doing more then me in less gear so I'm trying to figure out what the issue is. The only difference I notice is they have more Mastery, but my Agi is a lot higher.

If anyone is able to give me any pointers, like was switching to Heroic Halfus trinket a good idea? (I went from heroic Stonecore key reforged with mastery)

A lot of the "dps simulators" say I should be doing around 26-27k, but I usually do around 20k or so.

Here's my armory:

Pistulio @ Terenas - Game - World of Warcraft

My guild's World of Logs:

World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, or if you'd rather talk through PM's or something.

I do not understand how the Flurry change is a nerf to Fury. This seems like a buff to me, however I should mention that this is a gut feeling. Is there any mathematical explanation for the change being a nerf? I know the changes will, well, change further as the 4.1 patch is coming along, but this is a well intented (if not well thought) change that shows me a good direction for PvE on the part of the developers (as that's my primary focus). Instead of burst damage, relegating Fury dps to a smoother curve will make for a more balanced PvP; people seem to drop down all around during the buff stacking madness.

Yes, the change values Crit even more than everything else, but is that such a bad thing? Is the aim to have as balanced stats as possible, or perform the best you can under given conditions? I understand that this sort of change leads to a monochrome itemization scheme, but that should not be considered a problem, unless I'm missing something. Every patch, every change brings new sets of stat weights, and we adapt. Just don't throw away everything you don't use currently, and you'll be fine come the next set of changes.

However, the CS nerf deserves a corresponding buff as well, I think. Fury is not topping any charts on average (ref: stateofdps.com), and this is a clear nerf to PvE, which is not needed as per current data.

On a separate note, does anyone have a working model (with detail on how things are calculated, if not the exact calculation methods) for stat weights including Str? The ones that I have seen around don't make much sense to me, as they seem to be grossly oversimplified.

Also, hi!
