I thought I would share my recent post from the semi-defunct "top raid dps" thread. I pulled 7349 DPS on XT with a near perfect kill (almost no dmg to anything other than XT and only had to deal with 1 bomb myself).
OK so maby this goes in the simple Q&Aforum...maby not...but spreadsheets with armory import fuctions...why are there none? Personaly i have no programing talent or knowlage an am limited to entering MY current gear into current spreadsheets and HOPING i did it right...no im not BiS..no i dont have all the enchants i can get to get the best from my toon...i also cannot be certian that im making the right choices in gear enchants and gear because i dont have a frikin collaged degree in excell and am goin of "as best as i can tell" info...some help please...
Download the spreadsheet listed in the OP. Go to the gear tab. Select the 'Best DPS SV' choice from the drop-down in cell B7. Click on the 'Load Profile' button just to the left of the drop-down. Admire your shiny new SV BiS gear list.
Discovering the BM & MM lists is left as an exercise for the reader.
Well for one thing, there's the subjective quality that damage absorbed is more valuable than damage healed. The catch is, we can't really measure the correlation between them. That is to say, we can't state whether damage absorbed is 3x, 2x, or 1.1x as valuable as damage healed because it changes based on the fight and the healing target.
As a completely off the wall example, if your tank is sitting on a 30k HP pool and takes a hit of 30,100, then the fact that you can heal for 31,000 is utterly irrelevant. Obviously these numbers are completely contrived, and in reality 300 points of absorption should never mean the difference between a tank life or death. However, it does demonstrate the point that damage absorption is a special kind of HPS since it's incapable of overhealing and increases target's effective life.
Straight-up healing, on the other hand, suffers from the negative side effects of overheal and simple human error. Sacred Shield acts like a single-target smart heal in that, so long as you keep the buff up, it will apply the shield as often as it can to absorb as much damage as it can.
Now, beyond the Damage Absorbed vs. Damage Healed debate, there's also the fact that if you're using Glyph of Seal of Light, you're obviously not using a more valuable glyph like Divinity or Holy Shock. So in that sense, while you could get more of a benefit from Seal of Light, it may not be the most efficient configuration of your gear and glyphs. Personally where I see myself in current content, I prefer the lack of 4T7 and an extra glyph slot to keeping 4T7 and eating up a glyph slot with SoL. Especially considering you miss out on so much mana from SoW with the glyph and melee ticks combined.
Finally, 5k HPS is an arbitrary number. On some fights you will need more, some fights you will need less, and some fights you will need both more and less based on the phase (i.e., Mimiron). The percentage of "HPS" that 4T8 provides depends on the fight as well as the player's gear, in addition to being directly modified by the player's spellpower. For example, 4T8 means more to a SP-stacking paladin who's rocking 3k spellpower than an Int-stacking paladin with 2k.
Basically, 4T8 is something that player's need to evaluate based on their own circumstances. There are no hard and fast rules that it is solidly "good" or "bad". It's a tool. Healing is about using the right tool for the right job.
I think you had resume every thing.
And like you said: "subjective quality" that's the problem, we can't actualy get stats in line like hps or effective heal. So until absorb damage will not be count on some meter, only few players will understand the mecanics, most player will continue to look on recount and say "OMG you have only 1k HPS" and even if you explain that you were healing only the mt with all kind absorbtion spell and that not the same thing than healing a raid, no one will understand and think your noob... that wow actual way of thinking...
So like most paladin you will stay on 4T7 bonus staking int to alow you to spam HL with guide on MT... just to be less supect in recount data... Amazing situation...
Thank you blissard for growing a brainless player generation...
I don't get it, Im in the test realm, I can hit around 3.8k-4k dps on a test dummy with affliction, but then I try both new destro builds with both glyph set ups, And i can't hit nearly the dps. Im down near 2.8-3.0. I have a 98ms, and follow the same rotation as stated on these sim craft. I have lots of haste and very little crit but that should be better for destro according to stats in this post.
My stats with fel Armor is
Sp 2469
Spirit 608
Crit 13.88% or 172 Crit Rating
Haste is 473
Hit 365 (Tested on non heroic dummy since I don't have 3% hit buff)
I have dying curse and Illustration of the dragon soul. And ttt.
What am I doing wrong? Is 3800k-4000k around what I should be getting with affliction? Any ideas why my dps is taken such a tole when going destro?
Rotation
WIth life Tap glyph
LT >> COD >> Imo >> Conflag >> CB >> Incin >> Incin >> then pop COD when cd ready and LT 1.5 seconds or so before it goes off, and do the best I can to get CB into Backlash?
Without life tap just remove lifetap from rotation, Any ideas what im doing wrong? Any help would be amazing i've been trying to test this for the last 4-5 hours.
How does the new Darkmoon Card: Death stack up against Bandit's Insignia? The 85 crit is less in stat weight than the 190 AP on the insignia but I am seeing people claim that Black Ice is effecting the death card's proc. Would the extra 10% damage from Black Ice make up for the lower stat weight? The death card also has ~250 higher low end damage than the insignia. I don't have a death card so I can't test for myself to verify if Black Ice effects the card's damage.
Im tempted to test this out, the Undeath Deck is only 900g on my Server.
