After adding my 10 points from gear, which give me a 56% addition, i now have 200.8% from my base. We take 200.8/144.8 = 1.387. Thus, my 10 mastery points gave me a 138.7% buff to my base enrage.
However,
if I have 10 mastery points from my gear, and without it I only have 2, I would see a base enrage multiplier of 11.2% making my base enrage 111.2%. Add to it 56% from my gear's 10 points and we have 167.2. 167.2/111.2 = 1.504. So, my 10 points of mastery would now give me a 150.4% buff to my base enrage.

So each point of mastery now becomes slightly more valuable than it was (with that value weakening as the stat stacks) because each point gives an additive bonus to a percent multiplier. So it scales in that each point of mastery gives us a bigger bonus comparitively than it did when we started at a higher base, even if the result is a lower total enrage multipler.

Hope i'm answering the correct question.

I'm not sure I can agree on the conclusions.

What you're fundamentally saying is that increasing 10% dmg buff to 11% if a bigger proportional increase than increasing a 100% dmg buff to 101%. It's mathematically correct, but there's no absolute gain there.

It's not like post 4.1 1 extra point of mastery will give us more damage than it does now; a single point of mastery is still a 5.6% increase.

I may be missing something but it looks like an extremely convoluted way to say that if we have less mastery from our base stats, then the mastery we get from gear makes up for a bigger percentage of our mastery. In your example above, adding one point of mastery to the pre-4.1 warrior would bring him to 206.6%, post 4.1 to 172.8%. The proportional increase is greater, but there's no actual damage gain to be had anywhere. Mastery doesn't have diminishing returns, as far as I know.

Curious about stat priority for Fire mages, and why there is so much deviation between sources.

Some simulators, actually most, have haste and mastery very close to crit. Others believe crit is much higher in the weights than haste and mastery.

There is deviation between haste and mastery which is more important here and there as well. And from what I gather from the community, the 'general' consensus I got from asking a few mages is crit > mastery > haste.

Is there anything concrete with solid and proven math that has the answer that seems to be close to the holy grail, "what is the CORRECT stat priority for fire mages" with concrete proof?

I also come across deviation as well regarding Theralion's mirror, the true worth of DMC:V, and their weight with the bell of enraging resonance in the mix of it.

I am truly perplexed. Any math or some sort of sign would be much appreciated, I'm not one for mathematics.

Edit: Concerning about the stat priority for fire mages, I believe rawr even had haste over crit in stat weight.

Stat weightings (and thus priorities) depend strongly on your current stats. Gaining a few points of one stat can flip the values completely over. Haste is an extreme candidate for that: The value just before hitting a breakpoint is very high because of the DPS increase provided by hitting that breakpoint, while the DPS increase after hitting that breakpoint reduces by quite a noticable amount.
Using a simulator/formulator is the only way to get reliable information about what gear to use. I highly recommend using Rawrs Optimize feature for any gear questions. Check the Optimizer documentation for a nice How-To.

stats:
SP- 205
crit- 10.22% (15.22% FB)
haste- 3.00%
mastery- 8.00

Fireball (non-crit): 1465 - 1758
Frostfire bolt (non-crit):1570 - 1658
Frostfire dot (non-crit): 15/tick@ 1 stack 34/tick at 3 stacks

Fireball (crit) 3581 - 4000
frostfire bolt (crit) 3601 - 4000
Frostfire dot (crit) 91

On the test dummy, consuming a 22.3 mana pool, my dps from stand alone fb casting was 870.8 and my dps from stand alone FFB casting was 805.7 each iteration had (funny enough) 19 casts: 17 hits, 1 crit, 1 miss. This was done in 10 cycles of each, the range of each was (66) fireball, and (72) frostfire bolt and at no point did frostfire bolt cycles out dps fireball cycles out side of 1 extreme swing.

Keep in mind that this is a limited test sample, and is limited to single target. I will caveat that Frostfire bolt cycles would show increased dps for AoE/cleave heavy fights (such as halfus) but with these being few and far between, I don't see how a introducing a lower dps primary nuke into a rotation that has all ready been shown to be the best dps rotation is justified.

My opinion is that you should just stick with one nuke exclusively. With a preference to Fireball.

The ret deviance

Hi Retmates,

Just a true question as i haven t got any times to make the calculation, the t 11 tank gear stats are basically in terms of forces trully

superior than the ret one (not all but take the chest for instance). So my question is ,what would be the dps incidence in taking

the 2 best force t11 tank gear (plus the bonus) add the bonus ret 2t 11 and why not taking the pvp gloves? of course with clever

clever reforging and Hm lvl.

Thanks for your answer of my might dumb question

The new 353 wands in 4.1: Zulian Voodoo Stick - Items - Sigrie and Touch of Discord - Items - Sigrie

vs.

[Vicious Gladiator's Touch of Defeat]

Is 107 int+72 crit > 101 int+61 crit+72 haste or 101 int+66 hit+69 mastery?
With pvp wand you get 6 more intellect (and 11 crit) which is prio stat.

Yes you get 6 more int and 11 more crit rating, but you lose (for example) 72 haste. Even if you assume scaling to be 3:1.5:1 (int:crit:haste) which is not fully correct since haste worth more and crit a bit less, you get that: 3x6 + 11x1.5= 34.5 < 72x1= 72. So the ilvl 353 wand is better.

Adjustment

Im not submiting a profile here more like a suggestion although not sure if the person who submitted the profile thats currently in the OP is aware of this or not but here goes.

Played around with the profile to see if I can push a bit more haste instead of mastery and I came up with the following:

- Reforge Helm Mastery to Spirit
- Reforge Bracers Spirit to Haste
- Reforge Boots Master to Haste
- Unreforge Signet of the Fifth Circle

You end up with 17.01% hit instead of 17.13%

19.55% haste instead of 18.95%

Not sure how much of a dps increase that would be but I think pushing more haste is always good.

cheers,
