Several Boomkins have also mentioned gemming and reforging for Mastery for specifically the Sinestra encounter. He's possibly gemmed and reforged the way he is for specifically that encounter.

I would like to see some math on why Haste should be better than Crit. As far as my own calculations go, Crit at certain levels does net you more Haste than Haste itself (through Flurry) AND gives damage through the Crit itself and additionally bleed damage through Deep Wounds.

I am wondering, I have the darkmoon card volcano and stump of time equipped atm, however I just got tyrande's favorite doll and it got me thinking... would it be better to switch stump of time out for the doll trinket? With the int and mana regen I am not sure it is enough to beat the spell power proc and hit that the stump of time trink has... (and I know it's regularly a healer trinket, but still), could it be useful?

How's it going everyone! I just had a few interesting things I noted and I wanted to bring them up for discussion:
1. The first topic I wanted to bring up is trinket choices. I noticed plenty of warlock using Bell of Enraging Resonance (which I was considering grabbing), but right now i'm using Therallions Mirror. There does seem to be a visible DPS difference, but I was wondering if anyone has tested it out.
2. I was also curious about gem choices for gear. Right now I socket blue with Int/Hit, Red with raw Int, and yellow gems I go with Int/Haste. I to see if anyone has tested out raw Int is their gem sockets and see about their results.
3. For this one I just wanted to check in and see if anyone is sticking with the Succubus for single target 4.1 or if we're all switching to the Felhunter.
4. My final topic for discussion is the importance of hit cap. Right now I have 16.94% hit rating and I was curious as to whether or not anyone found another solid line where Int out-weights the chance to miss.
Edit: Grammar.

I'm not quite sure what your trying to do, but if im understanding it right, you can just import a new character as easily as you did the first one. Just go into to "Import" tab and make sure the "Battle.net" tab is also selected in it, search for the new character name, and click import.

Here's what I've written down so far, both from this thread and from my own experiences:
- Blink out of the third Furious Roar on Halfus, and after that CS the Shadow Nova. CONFIRMED
- Spellsteal Remedy of Maloriak. Dont let people dispell it. The extra mana gained will allow you to AoE more aggressivly as a fire mage, and it can extend your burn phase as Arcane Mage with some seconds. CONFIRMED
- Chiameron: If you are invisible when Chimaeron finishes his Massacre cast you will receive no damage. Caustic Slime can however still hit you. (can't really see the use of this since you only need 10k+ hp to survive massacre) CONFIRMED
Last phase: Save mirror image for when he turn to u. He'll then either kill them one by one = some extra seconds, or turn to someone else (you can also use invisibiltiy when he targets u to get aggro away, but DON'T do this if you're the last one alive, you'll survive but the boss will reset). CONFIRMED
- Cho'gall, Dragons Breath on the CCed raiders CONFIRMED
- Omnitron Defense Council:
Arcanotron, When he forces a switch, and some spell is casted after he has his shield up, spellsteal the debuff. Its a 10% boost to your damage + haste. However, you cannot abuse this since the tank has to survive aswell. Only use if you see someone else cast a spell on him~. CONFIRMED
Magmatron - When he targets you with his fire beam, you can Ice Block and he wont cast the ability at all. Should help healers a bit. CONFIRMED
- Atramedes: Dont ice block out of the flame unless there is 4 seconds left. if you IB before, he'll try to burn u when u are in IB for like 3-4 secs, and then he'll target annother player and go there with increased speed. CONFIRMED
- Al'Akir: You can blink trough tornadoes, and also, if you get knocked back by wind burst, and ur on your way over the edge, press blink and you'll be back on safe ground again. Just watch out so you dont blink in a tornado. If you do, You wont die, because cauterize will procc and the tornado will throw you away, use potion/manashield or call for a heal!
Ice block dispells Acid Rain, the debuff in second phase, this will help healers, use wisely at high number of stacks. Also, you can blink in the third phase in the air.
You can also invis with some timing to avoid Wind Burst. CONFIRMED
- Conclave of wind: I've heard that mirror images also shares the damage in sleet storm, Might be worth a shot as it will help healers save some mana. <-- UNCONFIRMED
Especially Frost mages should be able to solo Rohash ultimate, Hurricane. use shields + slow fall to survive. Fire mages always has Cauterize if things go wrong + Ice Block. You can be solo on the platform and therefore allow more people to share the damage at Nezirs Ultimate. Should also get an extra healer to Sleet storm. <-- UNCONFIRMED
- Valiona and Theralion: When Blackout is cast on a mage, you can Ice Block it off, it will still try to share the damage, so don't be close to anyone! CONFIRMED
If IB is on CD, you can let the Blackout TICK OFF/DISPELL!!!! And it will procc cauterize and u'll survive, be sure to be far away from everyone! CONFIRMED
Blink/invis out of meteor.
- Ascendant Council: Invis out of the last phase tranmission, that will give you some time on the boss/bosses. However, DO NOT DO THIS unless you have mirror image/ice block ready, since this will generate lots of threats. Also, ask the tank first if its OK. <-- UNCONFIRMED
You can IB away the Lightning Rod. CONFIRMED
(HEROIC MODE) If you're targeted by the frost beacon and have mirror images up either before or after the orb spawns, it will switch target randomly and prolly kill people. <-- UNCONFIRMED
- Magmaw: Magmaw's exposed head will still take damage after the head is gone, so it might be worth an early refresh of living bomb just before it disappears. CONFIRMED
-Nefarian: Mage ward absorbs some of the lava damage before you get up on the pillar in the second phase. CONFIRMED
CONFIRMED = I've tried it and that it works :P
UNCOFIRMED = I havent had the chance to try it yet.

I believe there is an issue with the bosshandler determining how much DPS your raid needs to defeat a boss.
I was setting up for Argaloth formulation (guild is going for worlds fastest 10man kill) with hp of 21,473,000, raid size 10, and 1 tank, 1 healer and the goal of a 90 second fight the calculator tells me we need 17,543 from each Tank 35,087 from each DPS.
17,543*90 + 35087*90*8 = 26,841,510
~25% more damage than we actually need,

I think he means that if you simulated the dps of a imported character and edit the stats as for example changing gems, another simulation without restart the program is impossible due simulationcraft stops the simulation
maybe it has something to do with some inner counter for iterations that isnt set back for a characters session and so it stops calculating

P1 Tips- Pull: If your guild is resetting the boss for raid positioning, make sure your pet stays close to the boss. Feign Death works for resetting the encounter (don’t forget to dismiss your pet).
- Orbs: if your position allows, kite your orb in a way that you can always dps while using Aspect of the Fox. Make sure to warn your healers if you have the Wrack debuff while moving. It’s not recommended to use Aspect of the Cheetah while kiting orbs because of the Wrack debuff.
- Whelps: If you are assigned to kill whelps, make sure you know where they will be positioned and launch a trap at the location. Don’t kill adds before they get into position though. You can start single target dpsing them (careful with agro) and Multi-shot when they are positioned. Make sure you use MDs to help the add tank.
P2 Tips- Eggs: [MM only] Make sure to time your steady shots in a way that you have near full focus when the eggs are attackable, so you can start with 2 Aimed Shots at CA phase.
- Spitecallers: If you are set to dps spitecallers at the back of the room, remember their Unleashed Essence cast is not interruptible, but you can use disorient effects. Since most of the time rogues will be using Gauge, be ready to use Scatter Shot as a backup, specially on upcoming adds that can start casting immediately and let the group know when Scatter is usable again.
P3 Tips- Orbs: Same as P1. Be careful with the purple void zones at the back of the room as they start to grow as the phase goes on, giving you less space to disengage or run.
- Whelps: same as P1. Each pack of whelps will die at a different location now, so make sure you don’t miss your trap or start MSing to early.
- During haste buff: [MM only] make sure to cast as many Aimed Shots as possible, casting Chimera Shot only when Serpent Sting is about to fade.
- Damage: If your group chooses to position in front of the boss, especially at the end of the phase, make sure to use glyphed Raptor Strike a few seconds before each Flame Breath to help your healers.
Overall Tips- [MM only] With a typical encounter length ranging from 7 to 9 minutes, it's safe to consider that you will be using three sets of cooldowns. Start with a pre-pot and all your cooldowns except for Call of the Wild to maximize dps while benefiting from an extra agility potion, even if it’s not a CA phase (boss starts at 60% and phases at 30%). The only reason for not using CDs in phase 1, is when you are assigned to dps eggs at phase 2 and your group is having problems dpsing them down (for guilds that killed Cho’gall heroic, that shouldn’t be a problem anyways). The other 2 sets of cooldowns should be used in phase 3. With the 3 minutes 100% haste buff, you should be using CDs as soon as P3 starts (or if your guild pushes 2 eggs at the same time, CDs may not be usable until 30 seconds into P3), including agility potion and Call of the Wild, for a maximum dps increase at CA phase. After 3 minutes the buff will go down and the boss should be around 15% to 30%. Use CDs again because the boss must die as quick as possible since healing is pretty intense at this part of the fight. If your group is having low % wipes, try using Call of the Wild at P1 and once again now, and save the second agility potion to the third set of CDs for a better DPS when the buff fades.

These tips are all very usefull.
I just had my first evening on Sinestra and unfortunally did not see this post before.
If i would have it would helped a lot, please put this also in the overview of all tips as none is currently placed under sinestra.

In regards to the third point, yes, having the Pulverize buff during berserk increases the threat generated by each Mangle, but if I spend a GCD using Pulverise to refresh the buff, then that's one less Mangle I've used during the Berserk time, so I'm looking to see whether maintaining the crit buff from Pulverise at the cost of this extra Mangle will generate more threat than just spamming Mangle and having the last half of the Berserk Mangles not be buffed by Pulverise.

Any chance of Reforge Switching??
Much like we can switch freely between 2 specs, why not reforges? As a Surv, I have my gear optimized as I see fit for max DPS (following all the EJ suggestions, of course!) but when I switch over to MM, even following proper shot priority, I cannot blow away my Surv DPS like I should. Problem is, when I switch to MM, my stats don't match with what they should be for an MM hunter. So instead of going to reforge my gear to accommodate- reforge should follow spec. Thoughts?
