Hi!
Im playing shadowpriest, with an average itemlevel of 347, and I wonder why I'm doing so low dps. I'm using the standard rotation (VT-DP-SW:P and then a couple of Mind Flay's, popping Archangel and Mind Blast when having three shadow orbs up), but still I'm only doing 5-8k dps, even tho I have done around 11k on Argaloth a couple of times (trinkets+time warp).

I have no idea of what I'm doing wrong, if I'm timing the dots wrong or have to bad gear.

Now I'm searching for references, how I should do to push out as much dps as possible with my gear... Preferably over 10k..

Seal of Truth now deals 15% weapon damage once stacked to 5 times, up from 9% weapon damage.

With this new change to Seal of Truth, wouldn't the value of haste be increased? And would haste be then compare able to crit, or isn't this change enough to make haste a competitive stat to crit?

Give this a try and see if it helps

SWP-VT-DP-MF till 1 orb procs-MB-Shadow fiend-VT-DP-AA-MF-MB
(even though it has been debated if you should refresh immediately after ES goes up or wait on the dots to need to be refreshed, I would refresh VT and DP, after sfiend in this opener, even if they have a lot of time left on them so they benefit from ES, and you get AA up sooner)

Then refresh dots as they are 1 tick away from falling off.

Refresh VT and DP (with ES) just before popping AA a second time, once it's off cd.

You do not need to wait for 3 orbs to cast MB. Cast Mind Blast with 1 orb (although depending on how much time you have on Empowered Shadows and how lucky you feel you can really just cast it on cd most of the time).

So, after experiencing much more consistency with 2H frost, I decided to go that route, running UP stacking Haste>mastery>crit. I'm around 1700 haste atm, and about 1050 mastery. I just picked up Crushing Weight last night, and don't really notice any sort of dps increase or rune regen increase during the proc. Is there a way to maximize the use of this? Should I lower my haste value a bit in favor of mastery, since the proc is fairly frequent?

Also, I'm stuck between choosing the 2pt11 bonus (gloves+pants), and using terrastra's legguards. The legs would swap about out a hefty chunk of mastery for haste, but i'd lose the 2pc bonus. Is 150ish haste worth losing it? I know the 4pc would probably be better, but still waiting on the helm, so my chest is parked in favor of Battleplate of Ancient Kings atm.

Mixology, combined with [Flask of the Draconic Mind] provides an 80 Int bonus.

The above is incorrect and quoted from the professional assessments in the beginning.

Flask of the Draconic Mind gives a whopping 300 intelligence bonus and can be used by anyone. Aside from being able to more cheaply use this, it is not relevant to alchemy as a skill.

Flask of Enhancement is the correct flask, and alone would provide an 80 bonus. Mixology further increases that.

Also if you equip the Vibrant Alchemist Stone, you will gain 301 intelligence. That trinket equipped with a red gem gives another +10 int socket bonus, and of course another possible 40 int if you chose to gem with int.

Possible professional increases of intelligence through alchemy far exceed an 80 bonus.

Not true.

Flask of Enhancement alone provides a flat 80 Int and is not affected by the Mixology bonus. However when Flask of Draconic Mind is used it overwrites the Flask of Enhancement buff granting 300 Int and an additional 80 due to Mixology bonus.

End result: Alchemy provides +80 Int. The professional assessment is correct.

I see now, excuse me, you are requiring Draconic for that 80 mixology bonus. That coincidental plus 80 with the flask of enhancement confused me. Enhancement is effected by mixology though. I just checked, also reported on Wowhead.

No, I did not. Reread what I wrote:

Once again, there is only +80 additional Intellect which occurs via the Mixology bonus.

In regards to the +4 Intellect, some accurate sources would be helpful in verifying this. However since it is overwritten by Flask of Draconic Mind it really is a mute point. No sensible raider would be without the Flask of Draconic Mind to gain the +80 Intellect Mixology bonus and that flask does not stack with the Enhancement Flask.

Hello, I was reading this post about frost mages and Ive got into a question. Why using 2/2 on the Frostfire Orb?? I mean 1 is ok, to give it the frost damage, but why second one? With the Frostfire Bolt glyph it is just useless. And its still kinda useless in PvE anyway. So lets say that talent point could be spent on Enduring winter, no? I might be wrong, but Im too curious not to ask

The second point in Frostfire Orb adds a snare to FFO's attack, which makes it a Fingers of Frost proc'ing machine. Without the second point, it just does damage and doesn't give those extra procs.

Where did the post go that has the stat priorities, skill trees, enchants, gems, basic rotation, etc, etc go?
New users and people starting out with a new class find those posts incredibly useful.

There used to be a huge post that covered all that for all 3 specs, but i think only the protection thread still has that information available.

Take the percentage of your damage that comes from Frost Strike and multiply that by 5. (e.g. 0.20 * 5).
Multiply that by 180, then by your crit rating value. That's how much oomf your tier bonus is giving you.

So if crit is worth, say 0.58 and 20% damage is FS damage then you end up with a value of 104.4.

To calculate the oomph of getting more haste over more mastery you take the amount changed times the weight difference. In your case this is 228 mastery to 228 haste. You're trying to overcome about 104 points of crit value with 228 points of mastery converted to haste, so haste would have to be 0.45 better than mastery for that to pan out. Not likely.

I'm not quite sure where I would post this, as the threads are all locked. But, is there any reason why the PvP forums are locked, and not updated since before Cata was even released. And is there any plan on them being reopened? I find most blogs/forums out there useless, and look to the incredibly talented people here for solid answers. I'm quite sure I've violated something, somewhere,...but I've always been a bad boy. Do your worst.
