As shown on a graph in I believe the first page of this thread, more haste is more dps for us always. The best choice is to put your gear into a spreadsheet (I don't have a link now apologies) and see which would be more worthwhile for your current gear, more haste or more mastery, since they scale together so well.

Hello everyone,

I have been unsatisfied with my DPS and Damage Done on Raid encounters ever since rerolling mage towards the end of Patch 4.1. I read a lot of posts on here and have seen quite a bunch of good arcane mage videos and I consider myself a pretty good player in world of warcraft generally, having roughly 5 years of experience.

Now I would not say my damage output is horrible, but being an arcane mage I guess I'm supposed to really top the charts most of the time. Unfortunately this has not been the case and while we're all 5 DDs (I'm raiding 10 man Firelands 7/7) pretty close together on the top with 20k+ depending on the fight, I still think I should be able to beat the hell out of an elemental shaman or a shadowpriest for example.

I'm currently using Rawr for optimization of my gear, using mostly default settings and optimizing with highest possible thouroughness for maximum DPS with Override Gem/Enchant/Reforge all ticked.

Anyways, I have no experience how to use or post logs, but our raidleader logs all of our raids and I am included in pretty much all of them. I hope with this link you can find what you're looking for (if you choose to help me that is):

This is a link of a recent firelands 10 man raid, killing 6/7 including Majordomo firstkill. I also recorded a 1,6gb video of our first ragnaros kill, which is uploaded on rapidshare. If anyone had the time to download that for further information and to give me even better advise on how to increase my damage output I would appreciate it a lot. anyone know exactly how the fiery imp scales with us yet? it definitely doesn't scale with demonology mastery as proven on the demonology topic, but based on tonights baleroc heroic attempts I would say it definitely seems to scale with haste and (oddly) that it definitely doesn't scale with crit (weird) but im unsure about with spell power/int.. here's the link to my fiery imp across the entire night of wipes

as you can see, 347 casts across the entire raid night, practically no crits @ 2.6%.. so leading me to think it doesn't scale from out crit.
compare this to the other warlock (demonology)

297 casts from his imp and again almost no crits (3%). overall my hits are slightly higher, which I believe is due to my imp usually procing while having DMC:volc, PT, heroicBell proc and volc potion up while he has the same minus the heroicBell proc as he has the necro trinket instead. With all those procs I might just overtake his spell power so could explain why mine hits for more on average.
in terms of gear our major difference is that i've got a lot more haste than him but he has a fair bit more spell power.. (especially as demonology spec).

I hope this helps figure out the scaling factors for the fieryimp.

I was wondering what would be a better spec for this and some rotation help with it. A lot of the threads referring to spec are older, with consideration to the 4.2 patch, etc. We've been stuck just below 1200 for a while and I believe it is a result of my toon, not my partners. Any help would be greatly appreciated .. rite now my spec is at 2/31/8

I'm on Lightbringer with my alt and can go get an addon to report anything you need .. but essentially I think this may be a spec issue .. and then if so, a regearing will be needed..

I will agree that taking a mean of avg's is not a way to correctly average what you're wanting. In some cases it may not even be close to what you want. Getting the raw data and using your formula on that data would be the ideal way to go. if you can't get that, then you may want to see what formulas they are using to get their data to back track and start anew .. if possible. I'm no statisstician but, like many here have a strong background in Calc, trig and physics .. and these numbers are not a real representation. I'm not knocking anyone's work, it certainly is useful in its own right, especially for trending as stated with markets, etc. But for specifics on gameplay, prolly not what you're wanting.

Without having done the math, I can't see this ever being viable. I have discussed this with a guildie who had a similar idea. It would take a significant amount of targets for the SoR proc to be worth more than a single 3hp TV and that is assuming a non crit.

It's a bugged parse - they're doing 135M damage to a boss that has 81.6M health.
