I love all the tech data in these posts, but for a bit of fun and as a poor attempt to address some practicalities I thought I'd share some thoughts

NOTE: not to be taken too seiously just in case I get flamed.
Confused by resto druid spell changes? Unsure of your role in a raid? Depressed at demotion from being a primary tank healer? Think again! After considerable minutes of testing and refining, here is my definitive guide to resto in 3.1.
The RJ pre-hotter: many druids follow this line as it looks really good on recount. Also you can create a random cast macro and just continually press the same button while watching TV. It may even be possible to write this kind of macro into a bot so you don’t actually have to do anything but play pong on the side bar.
RJ pre-hotting – does it provide a buffer to allow more mentally agile and physically active healers time to do their stuff? Maybe.
Would they be able to do their stuff without the pre-hot? Undoubtedly.
What’s the purpose of pre-hotting? Well it looks good on recount…
Regrowth –
it crits a lot. No it’s a hot. 5 points wasted if you want to get it to crit. It’s like supermarket own brand cola. Weak, unsatisfying, but with a long aftertaste.
Lifebloom, to roll or not to roll? My advice: let it bloom goddamit.
Doesn’t it cost more mana to restack? No, and even if it did so what? Mostly you reroll 1 second before it runs out, while restacking won’t begin till after the bloom, or 2 seconds difference. Over a long fight it actually costs less to let the bloom occur. Anyway if you don’t run out of mana then mana efficiency is meaningless except in a nerdy geek sort of way. If finishing the fight with a full mana bar is important to you, then worry about mana efficiency; otherwise who cares? There’s two reasons to let the bloom happen. Firstly you get a manic buzz out of watching the tanks health bar deplete as your lifebloom nears it’s end. Will it bloom in time or will you need to reach for the dreaded swiftmend button? Oh the blood pumping victory moment as a 15k bloom saves the day at the last second! I would point out that it’s probably best if you use the power of the bloom to restack or apply other healing spells even though it’s tempting to cartwheel around the room in celebration of “the power of the bloom”. Secondly stacks of 2 are the same HP/Mana ratio as 3 stacks so you can be flexible in you approach. Groovy.
Wild Growth: use it cast it love it.
Is it any use? Probably not but it looks awesome.
Nourish vs GHT: Nourish sux end of. It doesn’t matter how many set bonuses you have or what the crit rate is. Simply put, compared to GHT Nourish takes an eternity to cast. If you enjoy sitting on the edge of your seat urging the cast bar to reach it’s end then fine. Otherwise use GHT. It’s like driving a sports car compared to a Volvo.
But isn’t Nourish more mana efficient? WHO CARES! I’ve been all through Ulduar and haven’t run out of mana yet. Not once, and I spam GHT all over the place and rack up LB stacks on anybody who stands still long enough. Nourish is a spell for slow boring geeky individuals. If you don’t want to look like the school swot, use GHT. GHT ROOLZ. NOURISH SUX. TROO.
Swiftmend and Natures Swiftness: Marginally quicker than GHT but with a 2 day cool down. Use Swiftmend on yourself just before you die, don’t waste a point in NS.
Innervate: It restores your mana. A lot of druids have forgotten this. Use it more then you can spam GHT all day.
Tank healing or Raid healing: Do both! Do it all. Zap the weak with GHT. Run RJ on the nubs who can’t get out the AOE. Stack LB on the tanks and use RJ and RG as well so all your hots light up the screen like a fire work display. LET THE BLOOMS BLOOM THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO DO!. Revel in the big fat mana refund when they do bloom (I set my combat text to flash like a beacon when I get a refund). Pop WG here there and everywhere, pop pop pop. Use Swiftmend just for something to do. Use Nourish on people you don’t like in the hope they die during the long long long long cast. OMG I need six fingers and my brain’s gonna fuse. Who would have thought Druid healing could be more fun than Wild Growth spamming or multi-Lifebloom rolling?
Thank you Blizzard! Just a simple change to one little spell and a whole cornucopia of exciting possibilities has opened up. 3.1 is a visceral adrenalin rush of fast furious button mashing mayhem. I love it all. Except for Nourish, which I hate.
Alternatively, of course, you can pre-hot the raid with Rejuvenation (sigh).
