You're also ignoring that some fights can inflate DPS. For example, being on aoe duty on h ryolith, and flying on alysrazor are both examples of things that can dramatically inflate your DPS. If you aren't on those jobs and another ret is, the other ret will be much more likely to make a top parse, because their damage potential is so much higher due to the job they're performing.

EDIT: I don't think anyone is saying that the rotation you claim does higher dps isn't optimal. Merely that they'd rather see theorycraft-based evidence (IE not logs, but actual math) that can prove it.

What I grasp from this is your asking a PvP question on a PvE site. Arenajunkies.com can help you with your pvp gemming. Other that if you were not asking for PvP purposes. The gemming is in the OP.

Always defer to the Red gem unless the socket bonus would provide 20+ Strength or a high value of an important secondary (i.e. 40 Haste).

Never gem expressly for hit, even if you are under the cap. Given the stat priority discussed earlier, it is a greater DPS sin to miss out on potential strength. Reforging is the best and most flexible method to negotiate the proper hit rating. If, however, an extra 50 rating would fit into your calculations more neatly, I have included the optional 50 hit rating to boots in the enchants section below.

Pretty much a no-brainer. The requirement is effortless to fulfill as your gear will have an abundance of Red gems.

[Bold Chimera's Eye]
The best and clear choice for those with Jewelcrafting as a tradeskill.

Variable Pulse Lightning Capacitor (heroic) is an upgrade over Ancient Petrified Seed. It is, however, a very small upgrade, it only provides roughly a 50 dps increase. I wanted to make sure people aren't freaking out about getting VPLC as an Enhancement Shaman, as it's likely to be a much larger boost for any spell caster.

The normal and heroic versions are both good alternatives to Ancient Petrified Seed if you are an engineer, due to the fact that they do not interfere with Synapse Springs, and especially if remaining near the spell hit cap is difficult at your specific gear level.

Will this still be true without the caster mh? Don't count on the caster axe being used forever, it will be nerfed guaranteed and we will be back to agi mh

I have a simple question about the talnts you choose for the typical talants is WoW Talent Calculator - Sigrie

but i think WoW Talent Calculator - Sigrie. is better for firland raids because:

1. Solar beam is a good spell for Interrupting target (Alysrazar´s adds)#

2. Non lunar Shower is better for multidotting bossfights... you can rach the solar proc an Dammaging all with Sunfire and Wild Mushroms without getting lunar energy .....

its my taalanted and i thnk in can be better für multidamge (fl bosses)

Hi, this is my first post on here, so please excuse my ignorance.

I have been reading some comments on trinkets and dps - we are just about to go into firelands raids, and I obviously want my dps to be good. At the moment i have uh and fluid death equipped, but in the bank I have Rickets Fireball and Tias Grace. I have based my current choice on the advice given off Mr Robot, but which are the best trinkets to use to obtain higher dps?

I have a simple and maybe ten times answered question, but I can't find it's answer ... Assassination VS Combat ?
I'd love to stay assassination cuz I don't think the silent killer should wear AXE ... I like daggers, BUT it's not important what I like ... I need to know what's best. So please tell me IF you know the answer : ), thank You.

Hi guys,
Simple question here, should I be using [Fiery Quintessence] [Eye of Blazing Power] [Fall of Mortality] or [Jar of Ancient Remedies]. I've done some searching online looking for what would be best for me, but each site is giving me answers that are really different.
Generally mana is fine, and throughput is more of what I'm going for at this point. I've been using [Fiery Quintessence] with spirit reforged to haste and using it either along with Avenging Wrath or Divine Plea/Arcane Torrent fight depending, as well as I've been using [Eye of Blazing Power].
Guildies along with some maximization websites are telling me I should be using [Fall of Mortality] and one site suggested [Jar of Ancient Remedies]. Just trying to get a solid answer here.

Sorry if I have been unclear.
To clarify what I meant: For example @Ragnaros HC our Meleeposition is at the right
half of the battlefield. I use my HL to the right of the Meleegroup on the shortest possible distance.
When leaping sidewards I -sometimes- had the issue to not being able to style until I landed, even
when I turned (rightclick-hold, think you know what I mean) completely to the Boss.
It behaved like I wasn't looking at Ragnaros.

Just curious...

Recent convert to Frost DK (from Unholy). Unbuffed, my hit and exp are capped and I'm currently sitting on 74.82% haste. My Mastery is at 13.14 and Crit Chance is at 4.63%.

Should I lose any of my Haste in favor or Mastery or Critical Strike Rating?

I've got a question about 2pc tier bonus.

Is it worth it loosing 7% worth of mastery to obtain a 2pc tier bonus from chest and gloves, along with some exp?

Hi,

I'm totally confused ... it didn't seem right that for Destruction the Hit Rating that I was to use was listed under "Melee" and then for Demonology it was listed under "Spell Hit".

Which is to be used? ... it's seem strange that the difference between the two in terms of DPS was anywhere from 15/20% ... with the same equipment, after a few Reforges here and there.

Can this be clarified a bit better, please? I'm almost wondering if the Destruction Spec's are not filling out the proper amount of the Hit cap and should be using "Spell Hit"?

Thanks for your assistance on this

Hit for casters

Hitrating for Ranged casters is ALLWAYS redundanced from the SPELLtab.

If u would properly look at the melee tab ... you would see that Expertise has a major role in appending Meleehitrating...

CASTERS DO NOT USE EXPERTISE

Spells are elemental attacks derived from different elemental schools (fire, frost, shadow, arcane, nature) in this case Resistance(or spellpenetration) is the countermeasure for expertise.... spellhit does HOWEVER no longer favor from Spellpenetration once the base resistance of 0 = reached.

Spellhit is also derived from spellpower in wich intellect has a great deal to say..

DONOT USE THE MELEE TAB TO CONFIGURE YOUR WARLOCKS HITRATING ! ....

another thing that could have happened is a glitched api.... in wich you maintain or uphold certain battle status wich in some cases greatly change the way some of your stats appeal ...

ALLWAYS LOGOFF TO WOWLOGINCONSOLE AND RELOG BEFORE MAKING SERIOUS CHANGES TO YOUR STATS THROUGH REFORGING / GEMMING.... make sure you character has left the virtual game world and reentered it again....

Thats all i can say about that ...

Im not sure if you are serious.

If yes: Only the Spell Tab is damange-wise relevant for warlocks.

If no: I always use the Ranged tab, because as a Demonology warlock I am a range DPS class. But what I don't get, is what range a spell needs to actually be considered ranged? Is Shadowflame still considered ranged or does I need to go to the Melee Tab instead?

I have looked around rather extensively here for a couple of nights out of trepidation at posting a stupid question but I can't find my answer anywhere.

Has any definate consensus been reached regarding 4PT12? Rawr is telling me to stick with 4PT11 and the T12 hat but I want to confirm that here.

Maybe this should be made clear in the configuration and notes that we have in this website? ... the number is quite different in both ... and I had been led to believe that 961 was the only Hit Rating I needed ... and it is painfully, and obviously wrong, and the numbers mentioned here do not appear right ... except to confuse the issue?

Unbelievable ... even my Moonkin is hosed ... no wonder I could never get past 7k damage ... because these websites that know so much are not even clear on their instructions ... sometimes I think that folks are moving too fast to be more detailed and precise on their information!

Sorry to sound bad, but after playing the class in raids for 3 years, to find out in the last 3 months that it is all wrong and messed up ... is a bit weird.
