While 9% more dmg is 9% more dmg, 9% more crit is not 9% more dmg. Especially not 9% meleecrit.
erm my bad it is 9% crit but still?

anyway i dont know what are the stats exactly, but for pvp 9% crit is alot aslong atm im sitting at 28.5% crit and i supose PvE raiding shamans will exel that whit atleast 10%.

what happened with the talk of 2 STR giving 1 Block Value instead of 20 str = 1 BV?

That would make Shierld Slams uber and probably make hitting good blockvalues with the nurfed shieldblock plausible.

this is ofcourse if what the ppl playing the Beta say is true and won't be changed prior to release.

I recommend reading / understanding the rules of the board.

EJ board is a place where moderators want to encourage quality over quantity. Capitalization and punctuation are not voluntary to keep the quality/readability of the board high and overuse of internet acronyms is also frowned upon.

EJ can be a fun place to read and post, but the fun here comes from different kind of things than on most other forums. It doesn't come from posting lolcats, icanhasvariousdifferentburgers or other internetphenomena, but from intresting posts that actually add useful an valuable information to the discussion.

Some people do actually enjoy math quiz'es, quantum physics, and breaking things appart to find out how they work. We like to break Wow appart, go trough the debrii with a fine comb and analyse every bit of it to find out how it works etc.

And no, people here are not generally elitist jerks that take enjoyment from banning / giving infraction. Our enjoyment comes from quality discussion, so we naturally want to protect the board to keep it clean and neat.

Ugh, I really made EJ'ers sound superserious. Fun just doesn't mean that we need to spice up every post with "words" like: some1, omg, lol, wtf, DDDD and whatnot. Jokes are more than welcome. Flaming is not.

[Hunter] Hit Rating - Is it a Myth?

There has been a lot of discussion in our guild regarding the effect Hit Rating has on Hunter DPS.
(All Hunters in Guild are current same spec BM)
From all accounts I have read on the web, reaching the hit cap is important to overall DPS especially when facing a lvl 73 Boss. So, we decided to test. This week in Black Temple we brought 2 Hunters with similar gear/stats. (all T6 Level Gear) We were in the same grp the whole time to make sure party buffs were not a factor.

Here is the comparison. Keep in mind this is for all BT bosses (Full Clear)

Miss counts/Percents per Recount:
Dwarf Hunter #1 - 90 Hit Rating - Miss % between 1.5% and 3% - Average Miss % = 2.3%
Dwarf Hunter #2 - 149 Hit Rating - Miss % = 0%

Hunter #1 was able to match or produce more DPS that Hunter two on all boss fights.

Both Hunters use the following macro as main DPS. If there is a better one let me know...
(Depending on fight of course as this doesnt work well for some)

/castsequence reset=2/target !Auto Shot, Steady Shot

Now, somene explain to me why they think hit rating is sooo important.
Basically he missed 2-3 shots out of every 100 taken.
Now I understand that over a long boss fight (Council or Illidan) he will miss a lot of time.

Hunter #2 has some +5 Hit and +5 Agility gems.. Hunter #1 has no hit gems All Aglity/Crit.
However, since he gems for Crit/Agility and not Hit his Crit % is higher.
So, I feel he makes up the dmg lost in hit by having a higher crit %.

This might be splitting hairs, I understand that, but it doesnt seem hit plays a LARGE factor in Hunter DPS.
Someone comment on this....

I have descent gear, on the fun side of DPS, on things like Shade, and RoS... I've gone from 3.9k DPS, to 4.3k DPS

But like everyone else depending on the raid, and my lock on burns, I can get 2100-2200 on Brute, and 2k+ on M'uru

I have a fairly simple and straightforward question...

I have a S1 axe w/ mongoose, The Decapitator w/ potency, and Fool's Bane w/ Crusader.



What would be the best MH/OH combo of these three as is, and the best combo with new enchants? Im too poor to afford another mongoose atm, but i have nothing against putting Crusader on the Decap.


My guess would be Glad in MH and Fools Bane in OH (and thats how i've been doing it) but i wanted to check to be sure.

Started to play 3 weeks ago, farming honor to get greens replaced by proper PvP gear, using atm standard 20/0/41 build. Reading these boards made me to consider tuning my build a little bit, so here's a question about Cheat Death vs Enveloping Shadows.

At the moment I have 3 points in CD. But my resilense is rather low - 171. Can someone clarify how does CD work on lowish resilense? And whether taking 3 points in EnSh would be more beneficial in terms of having openers placed despite consecration/aoe fear/etc?

Any advice is very welcome!

Could someone with access to the beta forums please ask where arcane mages/arcane blast is headed? In the current build arcane blast has extremely high dps (over 7000dps/18dpm) and is very sustainable. I'm not sure about this but it looks like every single mage build would spam arcane blast after these changes. Before arcane blast was buffed and arcane barrage was nerfed arcane looked actually fun. now arcane looks like it will be 1 button spamming since arcane blast has both higher dps and dpm than arcane barrage and missile barrage.

Edit: Ask if firebolt will be getting a new animation so that it looks like the new fire in the utgard furnace and why they chose to have arcane mages so dependent on elementalist mages for scorch/winters chill.

I'd also like a post about where Arcane is going. It started out being very refreshing and has since become very confusing. Did the Barrage co-efficient get changed back or something (or get buffed even more somehow)?

Because I like having fun? I slant towards Arcane because I've always enjoyed Arcane. I used to play the PoM builds back when Mages could insta-gib. But I played pretty much every spec, because I like playing around with stuff. For me, this game isn't about raiding or BGs or Arena or anything else really, other than fun. I like new things that make it more fun. Making Frost more and more dominant makes it boring and homogenous for PvP, and Arcane is becoming more and more homogenous with PvE being Arcane Blast spam.

Qao is not my first Mage... he's my... 6th or 7th to 70? Most of the other ones are gone for one reason or another (gave away several accounts to guild friends, one got banned for some reason I'm still not sure of).

I've seen a lot and played a lot and when you do that you tend to find unique ways to amuse yourself. I've beaten season 2 Rogues with this spec. So it's always a fun spec for me to play, because it's interesting. Especially since they can't gib the elemental (nor complain that they lost because of it later). I actually do recall beating a Warglaive Rogue before as well, though I suspect that was mostly due to lucky crits and the fact that he had no PvP gear. But hey, it's all in good fun and that's what I try to do at the moment (when Wrath comes out, I might become a little more serious again, but I haven't seriously raided since BT--and that was quite a while ago).

I feel that, since class balance amongst classes is not a priority for Blizzard, that at least internally all three specs (of any single class) should have some amount of equal footing to rest their laurels, of a sort, on.
