Thank you very much. I knew the totem was bad I just did not know what to replace it with. Ill work on getting one of those. I got 3 peices of tier gear today so I am pretty pumped to do 25 man this week. Is the blue totem my best option at this point? At least until I can get the totem of hex

The blue totem is your best choice unless you can get your hands on the Black Temple one (Ancestral Guidance), so I would have to say yes.

So,

I spec'd HAT for last nights 25 naxx, and I did terrible DPS. Not sure what happened, but my DPS was just over the tanks...

I ran the 7/21/43 build, and my party consisted of:

1 Survival Hunter
1 Fury Warrior
1 Elemental Shaman
1 Restoration Shaman

Everyone had over 32% critical strike, with the exception of the Restoration Shaman. I dual-wielded Webbed Death each with Wound Poison, Slice and Dice at 5 points, and spammed Eviscerate at 5 points. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? It would take an average of 2 1/2 seconds to get Eviscerate to 5 points.

Yet I still was one of the last DPS on Patchwerk, and even Loatheb.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Yes, obviously. Any rogue that is only just above the tanks is doing something wrong. However, without more detail, we can't tell you what you're doing wrong. Put up a WWS parse (in the WWS thread, not this one!) and people might be able to help.

I tried to find that out by simulating a raid without any other source of replenishment, but whatever comp i try i dont get any replenishment-like effect for the other actors (I'm using the profile you linked, optimal raid=0).

Here is a test with 1 2/2 imp sl warlock and some other locks (and no jow/bow):

Is imp soul leech modeled differently then, say, a spriest replenishment? (i tried a lone spriest and simcraft do show his replenishment in effect, I'm using the last trunk as of this morning).

This may be true about your spellpower, but it is not true about sparkles etc...

Hey all, I'm in need of some advice.

I came back to playing WoW about 2 months ago, and since coming back and getting geared, I've noticed that I've been having trouble keeping pace with our other rogues in terms of damage output. I was always a competitive dpser pre-wotlk, in a guild farming Iillidan and Archimonde, but lately I've had lots of trouble and am having a difficult time analyzing what's been going wrong.

A few points/observations of note:

-I just recently spec'd combat, since I got a Calamity's grasp and still haven't managed to get my hands on a Webbed Death. I've been having difficulty nailing down stable rotations with combat, as it seems Rupture and SnD have a tendency (trying to stick to a 3s/5r/5e rotation) to fall off at the same time. Obviously, I keep SnD up, but I lose a good chunk of rupture uptime when this happens.

-Our highest dps rogue right now is a shiv/combat rogue, using WD/Hailstorm. I have a very tough time catching him.

-Last night, spec'd combat, I wasn't able to pull over 4.5k dps on Patchwerk, and the only buff I was missing was a mangle debuff. It was a sub 3 minute kill, and I was able to use BF twice, and KS twice. Spreadsheets put me at a theoretical dps output of just over 5k.

-Prior to being spec'd combat, I was mutilate with a murder/omen of ruin. I felt the cycles here were tighter, more predictable and easier to maintain. DPS also seemed stronger, even with the inferior weapon setup. Spreadsheets put my mutilate gaer setup slightly behind my combat gear setup, but I don't feel this bears out in practice.


I feel I must be doing something wrong, but I"m having a difficult time figuring out what. My rupture uptime is always as good or better than our other rogues, I don't let SnD fall off. Is it just a question of timing cooldowns more efficiently? Any tips would be appreciated.

I was thinking about Frost's lag behind. How much of a balance concern do you think making Icy Talons more like Flurry would be? If it stacked with IIT(Imp Icy)/WF it could give the boost that frost needs while maintaining it's theme. My sheets are showing it jump about 300dps.

Maybe too much but it could be an easy fix. I doubt it would be enough for Blood to subspec Frost though.

Well, Icy Talons costs five points and doesn't provide a damage increase. Having a real talent to put those point in would result in 3-4% more damage and Frost would be fixed.

At least with T7 I've found a sort of tricky balance between 2H frost and DW (slow/slow) Frost by using the same BiS Unholy gear I listed earlier + I redesigned FS (not OB too because the balance would flood toward DW) to work off both weapons. I also made Icy Talons work with WF/IIT.

The results are a near exact match of DW dps and 2H dps using the same rotation for both. HB would more than likely be a better choice for one of the FU's per 10 seconds (using T7 only) but to keep things simple I decided otherwise.

It makes a slightly more attractive OB Blood build and maybe bumping Annihilation up to 5 or 6% crit would give it that extra push. Unholy subspecing the extra 5 points to get Icy talons seems like it would be a 0 gain for anything but DW unholy builds. Basically what you would give up is roughly what it's worth.


The question is whether this scales properly at all Gear levels. "BiS" seems ok. Current T7.5 gear seems decently balanced. When you take out T7 4P it throws things off quite a bit and brings Frost down (both DW and 2H) below blood in it's BiS gear.

Edit: I'm getting disturbingly perfect transitions of DPS between 2H Frost and DW (Slow/slow). I hope they try this out or something similar.

I used this formula for FS = ((MHWeapon * .6 + Sigil and bonus damage) +(OHWeapon *.6)*0.5)*Modifiers*Critmod*hitmod
