Two subjects:

1)
the mention of intellect as a useful stat to a frost mage indicates that whoever wrote the Q&A doesn't really know mage specs very well.
Yes. Unfortunately, this is happening quite often lately (remember the post about mirrors threat). I guess that Blizzard is hiring new personal, which doesn’t know class mechanics in deep. They have to keep implementing new content, so their business goes on. But it seems that WoW is a little bit out of control. Arcane erratic evolution is a good example.

2) Blizzard created hybrid classes and pure classes. So, they should understand that some players like to specialize in one single way of playing.
In my case, I studied in deep all mage specs for more than 5 years (ex, when the Frost Elemental was implemented I developed a Lock just to study in deep pet caster combat, and a Shadow Priest to learn casting tricks that I could apply to my mages) from all that I chose Arcane, not because is better or worse, just because I like the way to play it.
Blizzard seems not to understand that Arcane vs. Fire is as different in the way of playing as a Lock vs. a Shadow Priest. Actually, Fire follows in part the “dot casting” philosophy of other caster dps classes. But the straight dps fight of Arcane is unique.

Some of us chose Arcane and kindly ask Blizzard not to be excluded from the game.

Lethality is a waste of talent points...
And the offhand speed does just matter in terms of DP application speed, so if you don't constantly swap targets a 1.8 dagger would also do the job

Cooljo is correct; the only times where Lethality might be worth it over the 3 points in Vile Poisons would be (if at all) when using Hemo too often to justify even being HAT.

You'll find Mavanas' spreadsheet does a good job of modelling HAT - play around with that to see where your ideal HAT spec lies (and if it's worth even trying with the crit rates of your current group and your gear level). With your MH, I suspect it'll be 2/5 Lethality, 3/3 Vile Poisons.

Usually when I prepare to use berserk, I'll let my energy fill up to at least 80. I've also gotten into the habit of hitting Tiger's Fury right before berserk if it's up and my energy is low, just to speed up the process. My question is, is this wise? The extra damage component from Tiger's Fury is completely wasted since berserk wipes Tiger's Fury. Is the damage gain from berserk worth losing the Tiger's Fury damage buff?

Mentioned a few places, but seems relevant here is Event Horizon (video showing it being used by a shadow priest: YouTube - Event Horizon WoW Addon)

I really like FBN + Event Horizon, since Event Horizon is a just a nice way to see how all my bleeds are going, and what I really like is that it shows the mangle timer as a darker gray if an arms warrior or other druid puts the debuff on, so I can see who is actually mangling, and weather it's my mangle that's going to fall off, and I should probably plan to get it back on. (I run with another feral on my 10s, and no arms warrior).

The 2 together are very nice, and Event Horizon (for me at least) lets me predict what FBN will predict, which is good, since at this point I'm almost choosing the same thing in my mind that FBN is choosing for me.

How would you move my gear around?

Here is my armory link: Sham - Forgotten Aspects

I have seen in many sites that the following items are BiS:

[Chestguard of the Fallen God] vs. [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Hauberk]
[Gloves of Whispering Winds] vs. [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Gloves]
and [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Headpiece] is better than using [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Helm]

Now I have all of these items. Is it worth it for me to lose out on my set bonus to wear these BiS items? Also, how would I make up for the loss in +hit rating? I know that currently I am 2 points over hit capped currently.

Other items in my bags that I can use are:
[Elemental Focus Stone]
[Soulscribe]
[Sif's Remembrance]
[Dying Curse]
[Breastplate of the Stoneshaper]
[Lightning Grounded Boots]
[Blue Belt of Chaos]
[Sash of Ancient Power]

I am trying to get out as much dps as possible. It's hard for me to use some of these SIM's out there to mix and match the gear since most of them do not run on a Mac. I know that there are some sites out there when you can put together a "wish list" of gear. So I was wondering if some of you would link me a "wish list" using my gear I have available.

I am hoping this week to get [Wisdom's Hold]. We've only see one so far which went to a holy paladin. So you can use this item in the list as well.

We've also been farming Sarth3D and I'm the only caster left who has not received a [Pennant Cloak] yet. So I am hoping to have this soon as well.

Also, please include enchants and gems you would use on the items as well please. Thanks for all the help!

I guess you don't understand what I am saying: People will continue to play with the goal in mind they have. When the best dps spec changes, they will either flock to an other spec, or they will stick with the spec they like. And if it doesn't change, nothing changes. Your personal attacks can't change that.

I would suggest everyone take a very deep breath and wait for blizzard to make further changes. Well the current situation on the PTR is not very inspirating :/ Our main utility in 3.1 - JoL, nerfed. Divine Sacrifice - fixed. PvE DPS - destroyed. Yeah, it hopefully wont get on live like that, but the spirit of those changes is one very negative signal for the ret community. I'm personally tired of waiting for the brighter future every content patch.

GT's proc is 612 ad MJ is 665 if I recall, the text on mj is mistaken and shows same value as grim toll, but the proc buff shows the correct value.

Just wondering

Just a quick question. A fury Warior Duel welding two 2handers with TG if i have my math right

8% base
5% TG
19% DW
---------
32% miss chance
-3% Precision
--------
29% miss chance. At 32.79 point per % at 80 is 951 Hit Rating needed for all White and Yellow damage, never miss.

Am i correct?

Yellow Attacks:
263 hit rating (removing 8% miss rate)
164 with the talent 3/3 precision (removing 5% miss rate)

White Attacks:
886 hit rating (removing 27% miss rate)
787 with the talent 3/3 precision (removing 24% miss rate)

Racial Bonus:
Draenei: Remove 32 hit rating from any of these numbers for your cap

Could you people stop asking these questions in here? It's in enough to go on the WoW forums in the Warrior class thread and check the sticky posts.

You could at least check "Marksman Question" thread...Last post there has answer for that or frist post...or use search option.

"Armor penetration
Armor pen has been shown to generate some enormous numbers on the spreadsheet. This is because it scales exponentially, and the DPS per itemization point will go up as you get more. If you are trying to build an armor penetration setup, you will need an armor penetration trinket such as the mjolnir runestone or the grim toll. Your passive armor pen (without the proc) should not exceed 566 if you have the runestone or 619 if you have the grim toll. Any more than that, and your trinket procs will raise you past the hard armor penetration cap. This setup will change your spec and rotation. Your spec should reflect the fact that you no longer cast arcane shot while standing still.

Be aware that while building an armor penetration setup will have a higher maximum DPS in ideal (Patchwerk type) circumstances, armor penetration only increases auto-shot, steady shot, aimed shot, and kill shot damage. Having to move will cost you auto-shot and steady shot damage, which is a large portion of your DPS. One tactic that can mitigate some of this is to stutter your run when you have to move, letting go of the run key for just long enough that an auto-shot goes off."

Think they should redesign the class to preform the way a paladin should, not contradict it self. Actually shouldn't Paladins (from previous history background stand point) be considered a "hero class" ... >.> more Heros than DKs

[Horde][Ner’zhul] <Spike Flail> 0 light - Alg Down - Priest - Hunter - Ret

Hi everyone. Spike Flail on Ner'zhul(PVP) is looking for a few more dedicated raiders to join us as we push on in our WoLK Progression. We have players from all timezones but raid primarily EST/CST time, with raids of Sun-Wends from 6:30 PM EST - 11 PM EST. Pre 3.0, we completed our Heroic Glory of the Raider achievement; in 3.1 we've cleared Ulduar and completed all 9 Hard modes & have killed Algalon.

Algalon Down - # 38 US
Alone in the Darkness - # 20 US

Additionally, our 10 man group has completed the Glory of the Raider Achievement prenefs, clocking in 12th to do so in the United States, and have killed Algalon (Observed) in the 10 man difficulty.

WoW Guild Spike Flail :: WoWProgress - World of Warcraft Rankings and History

Spike Flail of Ner'zhul - GuildOx - WoW Guild Progress and Achievement Rankings

About Spike Flail:

The core of our guild came from the MMO Final Fantasy XI, where we were members of the guild Kupo, which was the top guild on our realm Pandemonium. A few of us had WoW experience in Vanilla, and when TBC came out we returned to the game, this time with many of our guildmates who were growing tired of FFXI's repetition. We started the guild from Kara up and slowly grew into a top guild on the server, finishing TBC as the 2nd progressed guild Horde side. Bringing with us our atmosphere from FFXI, coupled with the attitudes of the players who joined us over the years of TBC raiding, we've created a warm, fun and professional environment in which to pursue our endgame goals.

We currently raid from Sunday-Wednesday, from 7 PM EST - 11 PM EST, with raid invites starting at 6:30 PM EST. Our schedule tries to leave weekends open for our members to enjoy their social lives. We generally take 2 nights for Farm content, and 2 nights for Progression; so if you can't make the majority of these raids for whatever reason, its probably not the best idea to apply to us.

We take raiding serious, but we also know this is a game and meant to be enjoyed. While I know that sounds clich? and overused, I'm honestly proud to say that we're not the type of guild that takes raiding so seriously that we have run completely in the authoritarian manner and forget why we're playing. Our main goal is to maintain a professional environment in which we can play this game and progress, and we try to take that mentality into how we conduct ourselves when it comes to raiding and our reputation on our server. We've worked hard to create a professional and respectful atmosphere; and if you ask around on our server, I guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find a large number of people who've ever heard bad things about Spike Flail.

We currently run a silent bid DKP system, which myself or another Officer can give details on if necessary on request.

What we're looking for:

Our general requirements are as follows:
  1. At least the majority of 219 ilevel items in your gear. While gear is easy to obtain, you should have at least 10 man Ulduar level of gear to be competitive with our current progression.
  2. Ability to make at least 90% of our raids.
  3. PVE spec'd and geared.
  4. Dedicated raiding mindset. We require consumable usage on any Progression or Non-Farming Boss attempt. You must have the playtime and means to be able to keep up with the consumable curve needed for weekly raiding. You must come over prepared to every raid

MOST IMPORTANTLY: We're looking for intelligent human beings, and you should be able to convey your intelligence in how you present yourself. This includes knowing game mechanics, having quick reaction time, and being able to learn from your mistakes. You should be able to explain your classes weakness and strengths, know the theorycraft to min/max your class, and what abilities to use when. You must be able to learn quickly from your mistakes and adapt to new situations, as well as have a strong sense of situational awareness and the ability to multi-task effectively. You also must be able to express yourself in a way that shows you're an intelligent human being; this includes proper grammar and sentence structure. If you can't express yourself in a form that shows you have an education higher than a grade schooler, you probably aren't the type of person we're looking for. No "b4, u, r, sum1," every time you speak please.

You can find a much longer post regarding all our expectations and requirements for our applicants at Spike Flail - View topic - Overview, Expectations, and Requirements. *APPS READ ME* I STRONGLY encourage any potential applicant to read over that thread thoroughly before making a decision regarding their application.

We are currently accepting applications from dedicated and skilled raids of ANY CLASS. However, because our recruitment is very general atm, we are being extremely strict with our criterion. Prospective Trials must be completely knowledgeable of their class's theorycraft and mechanics, dedicated and dependable raiders, and overall knowledgeable and skilled players. That all being said, we do have some classes that we need more than others, as follows:

HIGH PRIORITY:
  1. Feral Druid (Tank and DPS Geared/Experienced)
  2. Marksmanship Hunter
  3. Retribution/Holy Paladin (Geared/Experienced in both)

MID PRIORITY:
  1. Holy/Disc Priest
  2. Warlock

LOW PRIORITY
  1. Enh Shaman
  2. Resto Druid
  3. Rogue
  4. Mage
  5. Shadow Priest
  6. Prot Paladin
  7. Moonkin
  8. Prot Warrior
  9. Restoration Shaman
  10. Fury/Arms Warrior

How to contact us:

If you're interested in applying, you can visit our forums at Welcome to Spike Flail! and put an application in on the appropriate forum. Please be sure to read all the stickies before applying, if you can't be bothered to read the stickies and follow application directions you probably will not be considered for a trial. You also can roll a level 1 on Ner'zhul and chat with myself or any other Spike Flail officer.

Please be sure to read over all the information we've presented on our forum before making a decision to apply. If you think you meet our requirements and agree with our philosophy towards raiding, feel free to pursue it. However please don't belittle yourself by simply glancing over our information and tossing an application with no effort behind it. The application process is partly an attempt to weed out those who can't read stickies or form a proper sentence, so please remember that an application is your first impression, so try to make it as well crafted as possible.

If you wish to apply to us privately, please PM your application in the correct format to any Officer on the forum (Ushas, Melbufrahma, Zepp and Facts,).

Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you soon!
