Aside from Tier sets with proper bonuses what is it that Holy/Disc DPS needs to be raid worthy?
From either glyphs or talents here are some ideas:
- Increase holy fire DoT duration and damage by X%. Or Duration by X seconds and damage by Y%
- Make the Holy Fire debuff similar to, or simply the same as, Judgment of Light while keeping it's damage component. Or: victims of your Holy Fire do a Mark of Blood type effect.
- Reverse the Holy Nova glyph.
- Some mechanic that gimps Penance's healing in favor of more damage.
- A re-shuffling of talents allowing Surge of Light and Penance.
- Something more reactive than simply 'I can use a 1.5 second GCD for smite instead of a 1.7 second cast for smite' as part of a rotation.
- An execute. Linked to Holy Fire so it's not so spamable it turns OP in execute range.
- A trade-off of Shadow damage for Holy Damage. So that adding SW:P in a rotation or using Mind Sear over Holy Nova isn't viable. This leads me to thinking something in deep holy, which of course removes Penance from the equation which is fine, so long as it's replaced with something to do in the rotation other than Holy Fire -> Smite Spam -> Repeat. Not necessarily a new spell, but going back to the reactionary rotation idea.
Edit: A deep holy talent that gimped healing and shadow damage. This talent would be a requirement to take a talent that granted Holy Bolt.
Holy Bolt could: Consume the holy fire debuff for extra damage. Or your smites while holy fire was active would somehow stack either a buff on you or debuff on the mob that would make holy bolt hit harder. Or Holy Bolt could be like Pyroblast and have a long cast time unless you procced something with smite to make it shorter or instant. Or any number of things.
I don't think it's too absurd for Blizzard to consider. DKs have three trees that are supposed to all be tank and all be dps trees. Other than time investment I see no reason why priests shouldn't have something similar.
I'm aware that the goal here is more in line with figuring out what can be done with the game as is, but posting suggestions on the WoW boards and hoping for good discussion seems like a worse idea than risking an infraction here.
