ok i have a question for you guys about my gear/spec/rotation to maximize my dps
im about to go tho a big test phase right now so im just trying to get my facts straight.
if you think something is off plz tell me im always looking and trying new way to up my dps.

i just got rawr the other day and was checking it out..messing out with all the little things on there and i have a few questions

-1st question i have is about glyphing - as you can see i have Ghoul - Scoruge strike - death and decay glyphs. to increase my dps with the glyphs would it be better to replace DnD and SS with plague strike and dark death or just replace DnD with dark death

Rotation:
i use the 1st one most of the time.
PS-IT-BSx2-SSx3-DCx2
or
PS-IT-BSx2-SS-UB-SSx2-DCx2

-2nd question - with my current rotation and the new bosses in ulduar wouldn't it be pointless to have points in epidemic? not too sure in blood pres but in unholy pres i can go tho a full rotation w/o having to wry about keeping the diseases up on the boss

these might seem like stupid questions and or my rotation is completely wrong but thats why im going in to a test phase right now to see what works best and what doesnt

Has there been any theory-crafting done to find out if a frost-based spec using Incanter's Absorption could generate enough spellpower to be raid-viable?

It seems impossible prima facie, but a friend pointed out today that frost mages have significantly more mitigation because of ice barrier than other mage specs, and my mind took off from there... frostbolt scales well with spellpower, the high amount of haste required for frost raiding would work well with IA, the increased spellpower should lead to stronger barriers/wards etc. leading to more sp overall from a smart rotation.... The one major problem is that to go 33 points into arcane requires a loss of at least 5% flat damage increase from talents, along with some crit chance and at least one point of FoF.

I'm all for checking into anything that would let me raid as frost... but I can't find any information on this idea. (Possibly because it's insane. I still can't believe I'm asking about a spec with no water elemental.) Has anyone looked at this?

Ok, i know the t8 is bugged, but if the fix it... Will be better than 2t7+2t8? or maybe 4t7... should i nid 4t8 pieces for the future fix that we all hope?

Whats about the weapon changes in 3.1.2? I think Aeasirs edge from XT hardmode 10man is now better then runeedge for a BiS gear (without 25hardmode items)?

Are the changes already in the Spreadsheet?

I just spent 10 minutes in Rawr only to discover that this is indeed a futile persuit. For a start, you'd have to be sure of absorbing 12000 damage per ice barrier (400 dps absorbed) to break even against a standard 18-0-53 frost spec. Which obviously would require the help of 1-2 power word shields or maybe with frost or fire shield it could be doable. Still, as I said even then it's only about the same as normal frost spec damage.

In order to be raid viable, i.e. matching fb/ffb/arcane specs, you'd have to be absorbing far far more. Something like 1000 dps. Even if this were possible somehow, the incanter's absorption talent has a built-in limiter for 5% of your health. Therefore the highest theoretical dps you can get with this spec (5min fight, no movement, massive amount of absorbed incoming damage) is only around 5500 dps even with BiS ilvl 226 items.

Quick question...haste vs. crit...some of my new Ulduar gear replaces haste with crit. Seems like crit is more important than it has been, but is crit better than haste for deep destro? I'm at 293 haste and 18.5% crit, but I can switch some of my gear to pick up more haste and less crit.

The first post in this thread lists the scale factors for every spec. Haste > crit for all of them.

But the scale factors are somewhat close for crit and haste. Case and point, a crit wand dropped off Auriaya last night. Stats are almost exactly the same as my haste wand. One has crit one has haste. So when in doubt, go with haste?

Yes. For now at least. At some point crit will outweigh haste, but that's when you have a lot of haste and not so much crit. This is probably something we will not reach for a while or ever.

The whole article is explained with dps simulation, but how are you simulation those dps-numbers, is their any program or something like that? My dps-numbers at boss dummy aren't so high, they are shown here?!

when blizzard said that fury is gona have improvements like the shaman lightning overload 11%/22%/33%

i wonder myself..

Bloodsurge chance to proc 33%? yes its an improvment but in a order of like 10-20dps
its still not much

about rage regeneration, how about 30% flurry speed instead of 25%?

I wish they would impove the cooldown of bloodthirst and WW so the globals never sync up. Maybe increased flurry speed and charges.
