help
Hey all,
1st post, have read some but waaaaaaaaaaaay too much to read on this subject.
What I'm hoping to get help with....what exactly is the best gem St or ArP? I keep hearing so many different things about which is better.
I too at times feel I am lacking in total dps... My Armory yeah yeah I know with this gear I should know everything there is to know about this toon, maybe, but I'm not afraid to ask for help from those that know more
So basically I'm asking for anything that will help me become a better raider.

Oldtimer: You should be able to use the OpenOffice version with a fix (on OpenOffice hp) and its free and legal, nonetheless

Well, there are a few things that jump out to me right away when looking at your melee stats. The first of which is 421 hit rating. Thats way too much. Bring it back down to between 160-200. Remember, any point in hit rating after the soft cap will be a significant dps loss over Str, ArP, Crit, etc...
You have the same kind of problem going on with your expertise as well. You never need more then 26 expertise. Even 25 expertise would be good enough. Again, drop all that extra expertise for Str, ArP, or crit and you'll see another pretty large dps boost.
Also, because your hit rating and expertise is so high, you have a ridiculously low amount of crit for your gear level. When you drop your extra hit and expertise, I would suggest trying to get your crit rating up above 30% in zerker stance at the least. I personally like to keep mine no lower then 35%, but even just getting it to 30% you'll see a really nice boost.
Lastly, You can stack ArP gems until you hit your ArP soft cap, which is 100% ArP with your Grim Toll up, so it's around 50-51% ArP. Once you hit that, you should use Str gems over ArP.
Thats my understanding at least, mostly with the ArP nerf coming up.

Esp with the inc nerf to arpen, Str is point for point going to give you more dps.
You have wayyy too much expertise, and not enough crit to keep flurry up all the time. Try farming xt hard mode every week to pick up Aesir's edge, will give you more str, crit, and arpen, and even a bit more top end damage. the rest of your gear is pretty solid, although +str gems will give you more damage overall. try and shoot for ~30%+ crit overall, and your rage generation will improve a bit, and flurry will stay up for you ~100% of the time, which will be significant both in rage generation, and overall damage.
twin valkyr 2h sword would also be an improvement for you, and i would consider berzerking chant on your main hand, at least
just my two cents worth from personal experience
edit-
also, not a huge deal, but if you are going to put points into imp cleave, as well as glyph for it, put all 3 points into imp cleave, and sacrifice one from unbridled wrath, which only a useful talent if you have nowhere else to put points, imo.

I'm sure these questions will become a bit more common as the community moves to Anub'arak in heroic 25 man ToC.
A few givens : Holy Wrath glyph. Holy Wrath will be used every 15 seconds.
What is the ideal priority order for Anub'arak 25m hard mode? For most of the encounter you're going to be able to hit five mobs at once with AOE. Something like Consecrate > DS > CS > Judge?
If you're swimming in expertise, the ideal glyph to drop for Holy Wrath is SoV. If you're below/at the expertise soft cap with the SoV Glyph, which glyph should be dropped for Holy Wrath? I went with Consecrate, but I'd like to hear other perspectives on this. In 3.2.2 this choice will be trivial as we'll be SoCing everything in sight.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried OpenOffice's latest version and it didnt work correctly. What fix are you referring too other than getting the most current version.
Also, I dont use any software that I don't have a licence for.

I'd also imagine you would replace Glyph of Consecrate, despite the gcd mess that ensues. Also, I have Judge > CS in my rotation for HM anub (granted I've only cleared him 10 man HM), because of my stats giving priority to Judgement (ignore the fact that I have a hit trinket despite being way over hit cap. Unforseen drop occurred). I also had DS > Consecrate whenever adds were close enough, but that's only cause our tank sometimes moved them away out of consecrate (not sure why, haven't looked up the tank side of things).
What's the add situation like in 25?

Well after searching through some forums I have had badluck getting the answers for the following questions:-
1- How many targets do you need for Trick of trade to be worthwhile? Gyphed/ Unglyphed (pre nerf) / unglyphed (post nerf)? I usually wonder if I can use it on two targets with glyph and get more dps output that way.
2- It seems that the tier 9.5 2 piece bonus is not worth breaking the 4 piece 8.5 bonus, but does the 4 piece of Tier 9.5 actually beat or surpass 8.5 by a good enough margin?. I am sitting on two piece in my bag atm, but waiting on 4 piece before I actually equip the pieces.
3- Will the incoming buff to mutilate make it stand on par with combat?. I always struggle with expertise and it seems that if I were to spec mutilate, it will definitely make life alot easier. But an easy life is not worth living If I am doing 200 less dps than I was with combat =). Thank you very much for your answers in advance.

Also interestingly enough, using engineering instead of blacksmithing results in 10,430 dps. Could blacksmithing's usefulness be at an end come Icecrown?

As an engineer, I wanted to mention that the Major Agility to cape, should be Flexweave Underlay due to the +23 agility passive bonus.

In a hard marks rotation the que in action would go;
"Hunters mark; Srs; chimera shot; killshot; aimedshot steadyx5"
That means once you have srs and the boss is at 98% your rotation would consist of;
chimera shot; aimed shot; steady shot x5?
or steady shot x4?
I've been able to pull off 5 before with a decently high ms.
Also I don't think
Is normal. Isn't chimera shot supposed to be the most damaging shot?

Evis vs rup?
Hey, I'm quite new to the forum, was just going to ask if anyone knows when it will be a gain to drop rup from the dps rotation and go with the evis glyph instead and go 5S/5E? Was thinking of trying it out when i drop my t8,5 bonus for 245 stuff and regem everything with arp.

With the new ArPen nerf coming, gemming ArPen won't be a good idea like it is right now. You should save yourself some gold by just waiting for 3.2.2 and not gemming ArPen. I'm kind of upset that I have to replace as many epic gems as I do, but there's not really anything I can do about it.

PLZ HELP ME
hey guys, ive been told by a couple of friends that if i have a problem with wow mechanics you are the ones who can help!
i think i'm doing something terribly wrong, heres my problem:
i played a survival hunter for a pretty long time, i was happy about my dps (around 5.5 to 6k buffed) and everything was good -.-
then a couple people from the guild startet to harass me about switching to marksmanship and gemming arp, since i have grim toll.
well, i did so, read a couple of things to make sure i don't do anything stupid, skilled 7-51-7 and softcapped out armorpen (or at least almost).
rotation: serpant, chim, aimed, steady (chim on cd, aimed on cd, steady in between)
i took out arcane almost completly, since armor pen doesnt work with arcane damge, right?!
i have no idea what im doing wrong, plz have a look, maybe you'll find something obvious, and i'm just 2 stupid
heres my armorylink, plz have a look!
The World of Warcraft Armory
thanks for your time!

Have wondered for a while, on what point spell power becomes less benefical than haste rating. This is my gear currently atm. Generally i know its probably better to just improve what u lack most in. But wondered if a number cruncher could kindly run some numbers for me as i have completely no idea wtf to do or how to do it and dont generally have the time due to work commitments.
Here is my current armoury profile
The World of Warcraft Armory
Just atm when we have algalon tried or other HM bosses and i get a Power Infusion from a disc priest, my dps naturally rockets. Also i recall there was a magic number in TBC (1400 or so with FA) when if u crossed a certain threshold of spell power, your at the level where you may as well just gem for sp/haste or pure haste as its more of a dps increase.
Generally tend to have about 3.5k with raid buffs as destro.
Thanks in advance

Just a quick question that I thought I would pose to you guys.
Currently I have 1pc t9.25 (ilvl 245, the shoulders). I want to try the 2 pc bonus, and I am striving to eventually get the Legs from Koralon (i245), however I couldnt incorporate that into my set up right away. Also, I figure Ill eventually be able to get another trophy in the upcoming weeks, but I figured it wouldnt hurt to look at buying the cheap i232 helm/chest in the mean time, especially if those legs drop soon for me.
Looking at the two pieces, they both seem like upgrades, the helm less so than the chest (due to the exact same stats on the chest as t8.5). My question is, if I were to plan on having 3 of the pieces at i245 level (shoulders, legs and X), which would be the piece that would provide the largest benefit, while obviously not being quite as good as the next level version. Right now im leaning on the Helm, as I do not currently need excess hit, are there any other thoughts for this?
