Really basic question from a newbie Pally. Using dual speccing, it there any point in having a prot/ holy split, or am I better to have a prot/ ret split (given this is the tanking forum, Im not asking about a ret/ holy split!)
I do pvp, but not a huge amount, and I dont arena.
As an aside, I've committed the great sin of levelling to 79 as a ret/ holy split: despite being in the LFG innumerable times, I have run a grand total of 4 instances at level: so I will be that terror to all players: the clueless tank. I do wish Blizz could find some way to encourage more instance participation. And yes, Im even in a guild: hence 3 of the runs.
What is best rogue build for raid dps and what is best build for leveling. I am making my first rogue and know nothing about the class yet hardly, just the very basics. Any input and where to put talents will be greatly appreciated or a good link to a proper build/point spread be great also. Thanks (havent played for months just starting back fyi) Only classes I know are warlocks and warriors. Those are my only characters I ever used when I used to play.
Hey Peeps - I just ran RAWR and it pulled my profile from the Armory just fine. My question is concerning how accurate this app is compared to the DPS spreadsheets? My RAWR build suggests that I would gain more (and substantial) DPS from using the combination of Grim Toll and BOV or Wrathstone, instead of the Greatness trinket. So my question is, how accurate is RAWR?

some models are more accurate than others (ie: mage, kitty/bear druid, dps/prot warriors are more updated than most) Others, such as the rogue model doesn't get updated that much since I BELIEVE there isn't a current rouge developer. Ast is always looking for more developers especially for hunters, locks and rogues. If you want to help out and know any C#.Net programming, give him a call.
The question is raised "why bring a resto druid" to a raid now. We are in almost every case considered a raid healer. Yes the rejuv glyph gives you more HPS on your rejuv, but you cannot heal as many people which is counterproductive to our job. Our job isn't to put 4k HPS out on each person, our job is to put a nice buffer on as many people as possible to ease the amount of single target direct healing the other healers in the raid need to provide. Was GOTEM too powerful? Maybe, especially for a 5 point talent, but maybe some other talent should of been buffed and GOTEM nerfed to net basically the same effect but not making one talent seem like it is overpowered and required over any other. Back to the original question though, all we really bring to the table is our healing. Motw can be provided by any druid, as can battle rezz's. The only thing resto brings is healing and revitalize which I have never seen be a battle winner. With every other healing class in the game bringing some sort of mitigation to the raid in addition to their heals they need to expect resto druids to beat them in amounts healed... and obviously Blizzard does not agree.
Secondly I understand this is EJ and every person on here did 25m TOGC the second it came out and dropped anub with 50 attempts left on the first try, but this REALLY hurts the rest of the resto druid population that is not part of their servers elite raiding guild. You talk about just having to shuffle gear and can still reach the 800+ haste rating required to be just as effective as we are now... well that number is impossible to achieve in raiding guilds doing 10m normal/25m normal ToC and just venturing into stuff like 10m H ToC. Even more impossible for those that are still doing ulduar and similar raids. I understand that most of this nerf is probably coming from druids pulling insane EHPS numbers out of 25m twins fights, but that isn't the only fight in the game, there is still a healthy population raiding other instances. We haven't seen the loot to come out of 3.3 yet though so maybe this is a bit premature, maybe every leather piece will be perfectly itemized with pure SP/haste and not a plethora of crit like we've been dealt in the past.
The thing that really upsets me about these changes proposed for 3.3 is there was no warning and they are extreme to a point where it basically completely changes how we heal. I can understand if over the course of 3-4 patches they slowly laid out the direction they want resto to go in, and made changes here and there to eventually get us to shy away from casting rejuv on nearly every GCD... but to do it in one huge swoop just means Blizzard doesn't know HOW to fix the problem they just want to throw something on the issue to hold it over until they can figure something out. Rant over..
I've been using maxdps to figure out best gear ranking, but I don't know if itss accurate because it tells me to gem 20 strength gems over 20 arp. Was wondering what u guys use for gear ranking.
Ok, i fixed my armory link, you should be able to access it now, I had neglected to add the alphanumeric "À" in my name,
everything should be good to go.
thank you for the response and i will definitely check into
it. Glad to hear that my "Dummy Dps" is not negligible, and Latency is not the overall source.
Check out my profile and tell me what you think...<3
This Black Magic enchant you talk about, iv very curious to learn more. I basically googled it and found the following.
"Enchant Weapon - Black Magic
5 sec cast
Tools:
Runed Titanium Rod
Reagents:
Greater Cosmic Essence (6), Dream Shard (6), Abyss Crystal (6)
Permanently enchant a melee weapon to cause your damaging spells to sometimes inflict a painful curse. Requires a level 60 or higher item."
I dont see how it can increase haste from that.
Also im a big fan of haste, i love the stat but how much haste is needed to reach the Global cooldown. Surely it can not be that a haste score of around 600 will reach this with IV and Bloodlust up.
The enchant is being changed to give a proc haste buff.
This totem seems pretty bad. Blizzard apparently doesn't realize how little we benefit from crit at this level, and how good 200 haste can be especially on movement fights.

I'm just wanting to get some suggestions on my gear and stats. Where I could use help and where I should focus.
Below is a link to my wow armory to show gear etc.

I have a question regarding Main hand weapon choices. Currently i have a main hand fist from 10m togc chest, although it has the same DPS as its other iLvl 245 items, its max damage is lower, and its minimum damage is higher. I'm currently enjoying the crit, but i was wondering if the max damage from the other weapons outweighs the 5% crit and increased minimum damage on the weapon. Also wondering if double wound is optimal for a rupture-less cycle (Evisc Only) or if i should be using deadly still. Thanks!
I have the T9.25 helm, shoulders, and gloves. What i am thinking about doing is dropping the shoulders for the gloves, putting them to one side and going back to the non tier non hit shoulders from the badge vendor, my totc25 non tier legs and the Merlin's robe, essentially dropping the T8 bonus. As a 10man raider, trophies are hard to come by. I was very lucky to win two from a couple of totc25 pugs, and the gloves from VoA, but the chances of me receiving a 3rd trophy i can't really bank on right now, so the T9.25 legs are out of the question unless i get insanely lucky in VoA once again.
I used the Optigear programme which suggested this as the optimal gear set, equipping some hit items to make up lost hit. Simcraft disagreed when run through an optimal setup thinking i should go for the T9.10 chest to complete the bonus, however the stat weights i went by on Optigear are those from running a raid_T9 simcraft file which doesn't include a shaman thus no optimal raid setup, thus haste is valued much much more, hence why Optigear chose that combination.
I also did some tests on the dummy and found by just having the T8.5 chest, non tier items and the 2 piece T9 bonus, the dps was actually higher on average without both set bonuses. Thus the extra haste i gained really did make a difference. This was done in the company of a boomkin so i had the important raid buffs minus priest/mage buffs.
So, in your opinion, is it worth me dropping the T8 2 piece bonus for some nice crafted/non tier drops? Or will i be wasting alot of gold getting the robe? Since i only raid 10man, is it maybe safer to keep two piece T8 until i manage to get the T9 legs? (which i may not get for a very long time). The other option is to get the ilevel 232 chest to complete the bonus, keeping my non tier legs. Just feels a bit of a waste to put my 3rd T9 piece in the bank...
I am also curious about this question because right now I have 2 piece t8.5(helm and chest) and 2 piece t9 245(shoulders and legs) just the other day I got nemesis skullcap from ony 25 and I have the mats to make myself merlins robe...my armory The World of Warcraft Armory
I was caught up on this thread until about page 50 but I feel behind over the summer. I'm seeking some advice/confirmation of strategy from the experts
I raid marks and am pretty well geared with 10 man stuff (our guild runs 10 mans). I'm usually our top dpser by 400-800 dps and average between 4500-5000ish on a typical 10 man run depending on group config (highly variable). We just zerged Sarth 3d last week and I was at 7350 dps, which was a 10 man high for me.
I've decided to start keeping an eye on armor pen, which has mostly come at the expense of haste. My gemming tends to alternate between armor pen and agility.
So I suppose my three main questions are
1--how much haste do I want to have
2--should i be looking to gem/gear up with armor pen, or is it not that important
3--how much armor pen do I want.
My dps remains fine, but since our group configurations vary so much it's hard to track it over raids. I know i'm still at the top, usually be a comfortable margin, but it could always be better
My glyphs are serpent sting, aimed shot, and chimera shot. I like aimed shot becuase I like quicker cooldowns
I have one point in focused aim right now. I'm saving up for the Triumph trinket next since i like the use effect and so I would drop that point when I get it, but to be honest I'm not sure what else is really worth taking.
In terms of play style, I use a wolf--and within the first 10 seconds of a fight I have the wolf growl and greatness proc at the same time. When that happens i hit bloodfury and the ferocity pet talent that ups AP by 10%, renew the serpent sting, and then keep that up the whole fight. Shot priority is chimera, aimed, arcane, and stready, hitting silencing whenever it pops up.
That's a long post, but I wanted to give background. Any feedback is greatly appreciated
-Haste is not important, it's worth something but no enough to care about caps or anything.
-Concerning ArP it's a very nice MM stat , how ever agi stays better until very high Arp (900+ I would say).
In a nut shell, with out ArP trinket you want as much as possible but you stay in agi gemming until around 900 ArP.
And with a ArP trinket you want just enough to cap, 735 Mjolnir and 788 with Grim Toll.
Don't know about serpent sting scaling sorry, and about the 2 t8 bonus it's about 90 dps boost.Replacing 226 you need about 2 pieces of 232/245 to do better.
How is it possible to get to 900+ armor pen without gemming? Trinkets?
With the 90 dps boost from the 10% serpent sting, how does that stack wtih 2 pieces of tier 9? The two of those together seemed like they could be a nice combo.
I'm sorry if i post this in the wrong section, or if the question has already been asked, but im not finding anything UP TO DATE to what im looking for.
When im looking trough the millions of post relating to feral cat dps (here and other forums), i have read many different opinions according to armor penetration vs agility vs strength.
My druid has unbuffd 7k4 atp, 42% armor penetration with 53% crit. (around 10k atp and 59% ich crit raid buffd)
But i socket al i can for armor pen, now sinds i dont have one of the armor pen trinckets i dont know if im doing this right.
From what i understand of rawr, i should get more dps from replacing al my armor pen gems with agi gems,
But most say that when you reach 50% crit unbuffd you should go for armor pen (starting socketting from when you have 300 ich raiting with gear),
Can anyone confirm this? Or would i realy better gem agility, or (on some posts) go for strength sinds i have way more agi atm.
Hey guys ! Can u help me with 2 quastions plz :
1) What is the best rotation on single target fight ? I mean how should i use CLs : after LvB only or on CD ?
2) I have 4pc bonus , which glyph should i use ToW or Lava?
