Given the length of the Shaman QA and that they at least got some major stuff addressed, such as totems and recognition that the healing situation is being worked on, and then looking at our patch notes, I'm not hopeful that our QA will be any longer than this post I just wrote.
It's disheartening more than anything to accept that the constant lack of changes from patch to patch means that Blizz thinks that we work just fine.
So right now I'm sitting at 39.05% ArP as fury, without gemming for it. I have two mixed gems for the meta, and one Expertise gem/enchant on the gloves just to get me up close to cap (REALLY bad luck on Expertise with my current gear...)
4227 AP right now, my thoughts right now are on replacing some 16 STR gems with ArP, would this be wise? People keep saying after 35%~ of ArP it's better to gem for it, but is this really true? Having a tough time deciding.
since the change to BT STR is nearly always better than ArP
can someone plz mathematically proof what rotation is optimal and when not to use the instant slam proccs? or is it because of the rng and the dependence on how much rage you get (more hs more procs) impossible to proof?
alright im sure this question has already been answered but im not going to read through an entire 90 pages of text to find it so i'll simply ask again lol i looked on manly's post but alot of what was there kinda confused me (my alt is a mage, not my main)
i have an 80 cane mage with 1.8k sp unbuffed, but i only do 1.7k dps buffed on boss fights, my rotation revolves around arcane barrage presence of mind to eliminate cast time on fire ball just for the extra damage, then i'll occasionally throw in a scorch, and i use arcane blast often, but never really got it up to 3 stacks, and i use arcane missiles after arcane barrage each time...as far as i know it does quite well, but my dps still isnt quite where it should be, or where i'd like it to be. i know its probably so simple that i fail miserabley but hey lol...mages are fun, but they arent exactly my area of expertise like druids are...any answers or any better arcane rotations i could use, please let me know i would REALLY appreciate it!
for addons i use Scorchio2 to monitor buffs and debuffs, and CCbreaker or whatever its called to watch sheeps.
here is my mage armory so you guys can check my gear to see if thats a big problem as well, since my druids armory is linked in my display rather than my mage
There was some testing done on Healing forums. World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Anyone want any Val'anyr mechanics tested?
Out of several things, what's most dissapointing is that Renew on full hp target doesn't count towards shield. I don't think they tested druid hots there, but if they work the same way, this is quite bad. So much for that blue post from "lead item designer"(or who was it) claiming we have no idea how good it is?
I can only assume that they decided to go "worst case scenario" on the changes in the first iteration of the patch and we may then see some of them scaled back.
I'm really sad about the frost strike change though. It's not really a big deal if its dodge-able but it could be left as being non-parryable and non-blockable (which doesn't affect PVE DPS and still benefits slightly better geared tanks who may not be able to fit threat items into more than weap/glyphs plus parry/block is such a minor avoidance ability in PVP that I don't really see any problem there), which would loosely fit with its "spell melee" type of effect.
Hi guys. I have sub-par gear, but i have done many experiments in these days.
Nothing really scientific , only boss dummy. I have a mix of naxx10-25 gear, with two fast weapons, because i couldn't loot a slow main hand until now : [Widow's Fury] mainhand + [Hailstorm] offhand .
2550 AP unbuffed
311 hit rating
9/9 expertise (it's low, i know)
23.71% crit rating
Since i have fast-fast, after some time with the scourge strike build, i decided to try the 0/17/54 that should be less dependant on weapon speed : i found that it's incredibly dependant to minimal lag delays or rotation errors-misses-parries-dodges, so it can go to a max of 2000dps to 1700dps with too much ease, for my taste.
I was also surprised because all here can bear fantastic results with this build, instead i can barely surpass 1900dps average on dummy, while i surpass easily 2000 average dps with the scourge strike build even if i have a fast main hand...could it be maybe because i am still so low on AP contribution from my poor gear?
So I have tried a little modified version, that requires less keystrokes than 0/17/54, but still focusing on RP generation, by using Obliterate.
It's really similar to the obliterate spec suggested in the main post, but it is played in improved unholy presence instead : 0/18/53
The priority is using all runes and dumping rune power only when the runes are all in cooldown and with a rigid rotation it becomes the classic :
I found that this rotation , with this spec, lets you use your runes always in the first moment they are available (maximizing the advantages of IUP), and at the same time generates the right amount of RP to never go past 130rp , while dumping 1-2 DC each time before the runes refresh ;
This is in my opinion a big advantage over 0/17/54 spec, where the main problem is (in my opinion) that a lot of the potential of IUP goes wasted , because almost consantly while you dump RP the runes are already up and could be used for better result.
This spec has given to me a stable 2100 dps on boss dummy, with spikes of 2300, a little more than the classic scourge strike spec also if i have fast-fast weapons, and also if i'm absolutely not ulduar geared with armor penetration.
I'm not really good at math so i can't say anything more precise, but i'd like to know what do you think of this spec, and if someone good at it could run a simulation, or try himself...to possibly demonstrate if i'm right or wrong on the potential of this spec.
