I've been hearing and seeing a lot of speculation with my peers and different sites on what glyphs to use for arcane. I currently use: [Glyph of Arcane Blast] [Glyph of Molten Armor] and [Glyph of Arcane Power]. I believe the arcane thread said to use the three I'm currently using, but as i stated above, i've been seeing more and more people use a different glyph then [Glyph of Arcane Power] and it would be [Glyph of Arcane Missiles].

I want to know which is the better glyph to use, stat wise. [Glyph of Arcane Power] or [Glyph of Arcane Missiles].

Yeah, tested on a dummy. Higher DPS increase using my gems. Woot!

If you wish to discuss Rawr, there is a) a general Rawr thread in the general Class Mechanics forum, and b) a Warrior-specific thread here in the Warrior forum dedicated to the Warrior modules of Rawr, as well as c) the Rawr Discussion threads. Please direct your questions/searches to these areas.

Also, please check the Documentation on Rawr's Codeplex site, as it should clear up how the program arrives at the results you see. In regards to Rawr as a whole, ensure that you have all relevant buffs/enchants set. More specifically to the DPSWarr module, ensure that you Ability Maintenance and BossHandler settings are all set to accurately reflect the fight you're trying to model.

All you idiots talking about old crap that has been determined long ago if it was better or not is not what we should be discussing. We should be discussing if MM is still going to be just as good as survival come ICC.

First GDKP TotC25 completed

Just finished RL my First GDKP TotC25.

Total Gold Pot was 41300 which came to 1652 gold per person.
Trophies went for avg of 3000 gold

Notable drops:
Death's Verdict 5500g
Satrina's Impeding Scarab 1900g
Plans Breastplate of the white knight 900g
Ring of the Darkmender 3500g
Signet of the Traitor King 4500g
Archon Glaive 1900g

The only issue that I saw was that it was much slower than other runs BUT I was messing with addons and getting used to the system so the speed will pick up on future runs. Overall very smooth run and from what people said they enjoyed it. Was pretty fun watching people bid on Gear

Ya, I wish I could make the time to delve into the code base, but I figured that it'd be quicker to inquire about it. Thanks for the insight.

This is a simple question simple answer thread. I had two simple questions. A) does RawR approximate up or down for warriors and B) is 7k dps acceptable for my current gear.

This means a simple, yes it approximates, and no your dps is not acceptable would do.

Also, of course i have all buffs checked, glyphs checked, ability maintenance checked, and boss selector information set.

some doubts

Hi all (my first post),
with my guild we've cleared ToC10 hero with some difficulties on Anub (especially due to some low DPS on my side )
I'm trying to understand where i'm getting wrong.
I mainly use a 0/16/56 spec trying to maximize the damage over the sting (with the 2 pieces bonus of the T9), but on Anub i got some doubts:
Fom a "strategic point of view I always try to keep the Serpent always up on both boss and adds and when L&L proc i'l give one explosive to different targets to maximize damage and avoid to "overlap ticks of damage. Whenever available i put an explosive trap under boss+add but here start the first doubt: better volley o multi?
In theory, from what i've lurked recently here, the suggestion is "single boss= aimed --- Boss+ adds= Multi/Volley", but (probably adding the fact that i'm a damned "clickers") it seems that the overall tactics doesn't work well (producing an enbarassing low dps).
To get more "advantages" from the combo explosivetra+Volley, wouldn't be better a MM spec (with readiness to use more time the trap)?
About the "shot cycle" i'm trying either this:
1. Kill Shot (when available)
2. Explosive Shot
3. Black Arrow
4. Aimed/Multi-Shot
5. Serpent Sting (to move before black arrov due to the T9 bonus)
6. Steady Shot
or a more simple "shot the first available depending on GCD startng from expl+Serpent+Black

but i hardly get more than 4.3-4.5k dps
Suggetion are very wellcomed

Thx

Regarding weapon swapping (previous page), I think there has been made a very good suggestion on how to fix this (I am not a fan of weapon swapping, because it's an ugly mechanic and inconvenient to use. Actually I don't think Blizzard will leave it this way): If DP procs,
option a) is "if there's a 5-DP-stack on target, DP proc causes flat direct damage",
option b) is "if DP stack size is <= 4, proc regularly".

I guess that's a very good solution for that, and it might turn out as a slight DPS increase for us.

I'm not sure if this was already covered(i couldn't find it). I recently switched to the incite spec, & i recognize the great possibility for higher dps, but I'm struggling with the rotation, mainly when/how often i should squeeze in Heroic Strike. I've read 'wait until your at 75 rage or higher then use Heroic Strike before an ability. Is that accurate?

*edit* single target dps in question. I have already seen much improvement in AoE dps via Cleave & Imp. Thunderclap

Hi,
I have questions regarding the value of spirit for a frostfire bolt mage. I'm currently gearing my alt mage up and really enjoy the frostfire playstyle over the alternatives. I have been reading through most of this thread.
What is the value of spirit?
I usually raid as moonkin druid and spirit is a subsidiary stat for us and we do best choosing gear without spirit in favor of haste or crit. Is this what I should be doing on the mage as well?
If so, does glyph of molten armor lose its value in comparison to glyph of scorch (having minimum amount of spirit from gear)?
Other glyphs I am using is glyph of frostfire bolt and glyph of living bomb since they feel like no-brainers (main nukes).
I am sorry if my questions are noobish or if they have allready been answered

Hello all.

I'm a Prot Warrior since I've started playing with Warrior, and I find myself currently in the position where I need to DPS about 50% of the time (TotC 10/25 and also in TotGC)

We had another arms warrior in the raid who was easily above 6k up to 8k DPS, and I always assumed the difference between our DPS was the gear (mine was pretty much Naxx 25/EoE 25 gear) and my DPS was running between 4 and 4.8k

I've been improving the dps gear in the meanwhile to what you can see in: The World of Warcraft Armory

Stats
# AP: 4450
# Hit Rating: 253
# ArP: 25.87% + 10% Battle Stance + 6% 2 pieces T9
# Crit Chance: 37.20%
# Expertise: 17 (4.25%)

I realize that both Hit and Expertise are a little under of what's optimal (lost part of what I had before when swapped for new gear) but still I can't find a improvement in my dps (last TotC 10 I was doing around 4k up to twins, then I improved a bit in twins to 6.3k, which can easily be explained by the empowered buffs for instance, and around 5.6k in Anub)

But basically my dps still remains between 4 to 5k DPS (also done some tests in boss dummy and with only BS up it averaged around 3.4k dps, which I believe to be pretty low)

I've also runned a few simulations in SimulationCraft (version simc-322-4-win32) and I got a maximum possible (for a Patchwerk kind of fight) of nearly 7k dps, which is a huge difference...Conclusion I must be doing something wrong, either the spec (I've read about the 55/8/8 while skimming through these last pages, haven't tested it yet), or the rotation, or the gear/gemming, something must be wrong to have these difference in numbers

So, as I'm pretty new to this arms dps business, I'd like to know about (Btw I believe this would be awesome to be in the first post, since the information is scattered around 72 pages which honestly makes it impossible to find):
- Rotation (or priorities, since there isn't a rotation per si)
- Builds
- Caps to aim for (well here I believe the 263 Hit rating, 6.5% Expertise will be what to aim for)
- Gemming according to gear
- Addons (if any exist) to help out with the "rotation" (as S.H.I.T. for ret palas for instance)
- Anything else you guys think it's fit

Thanks in advance

P.S.:
While watching simcraft running I noticed they use the following priorities:
bloodrage (rage<=85)
heroic_strike (rage>=95)
mortal_strike
rend
overpower
bladestorm
execute
slam

Also found another priority list (from StrongArms addon, which I haven't tested yet)
#1 Keep rend up
#2 Overpower (if Taste for Blood is about to refresh)
#3 Execute (if Sudden Death is about to expire)
#4 Bladestorm (if Taste for Blood is NOT up, and rend has more than 6 seconds remaining)
#5 Mortal Strike
#6 Execute
#7 Overpower
#8 Slam at >40 rage
#9 Bloodrage at low rage
#10 Heroic Strike if >75 rage

Again, all help is welcome

Arms or fury

There are some many threads here and in fury discussion, so i just need some simple answers.

Been playing Fury for almost 3 years now, mainly the only specc i think im kinda good at, i have duelpve specc with Arms and fury, my guild wants me to go full Arms.

Is it just me, but depending what boss you are encounter sometimes its better to be fury, and sometimes better to be arms? Whats the good and bad with the both speccs.

1. In arms specc, how much arp should you aim for pve contra Ap? I have about 400, not including the t9 setbonus, and battlestance. ( I have grimtroll trinket)

2. What specc are generall the best pve specc?

3. Do you even use HS in arms rotation?

4. How important is it to keep up the Sunder armor? Just feels like im loosing alot of dps when sunder the target.

5. How important is it to be Hitcapped and expertise capped? (i have 28 expertise and 289 hit).

6. Fury rotation. I always make sure whirlwind goes first, and then i have a macro with Bloodthirst and HS. I have 5k ap unbuffed (not Bs including) about 38% crit (not rampage including) But still i barely do 4k-4.5k dps, i am both hitcap and expertise cap, what am i doing wrong.

Ofc i use my cd as fast as i can.

Moving to trap to place a trap, will result in less dps uptime imo.Black arrow and explosion trap shares a cd. By using the you taking away 3% damage on anub I think and lnl procs. I forgot what the tooltip description was If the adds are position right you can just single target anub and use multi shot. Cleaves between you and your guild can kill the adds if dps is strong enough. I use this rotation ks, exp, ba, srs, multi if adds are up (aim if its only the boss), stready.

Im seeing a lot of holy palas going a div sac spec now, ie 51/20, and i wonder why this is... Is this the new standard? I dont play holy pala on a regular basis, but got some decent gear, and if this is a new standard, id love to try it over the default pve holy spec.

I would say that the Prot subspec is now the default raiding subspec. Most paladins took it because of the massive devaluation of crit that came with the most recent Illumination nerf, making the value proposition of picking up 8% crit from Retribution much less appealing. It had always been a regen-focused decision, but it now provides much less regen than it did at the start of the expansion. Combine that with the many useful opportunities for Divine Sacrifice / Divine Guardian, reduced cooldown on BoP and the stronger Sacred Shield and there's much more incentive to subspec Prot these days. In fact, some strategies for current high-end content practically require it, like the door strategy on Heroic Twins 25 or BoPping Pursue victims on Heroic Anub 25. The Prot subspec adds a lot of raid utility that most paladins seem to feel outweighs the benefit of 8% crit.

i am new loged here and want ur opinions XD

this is my 1st post here and i would like ur help and opinions on my char
i played as arms till today .today i respeced to fury to check it although my off hand ain't proper.
armory shows me as fury .
The World of Warcraft Armory
my arms stats were 4988 ap ub, 35,6% crit, 22 expertise( wanted anubs boots to cap) 7,32 % hit caped with presence of draenei and arp fron gear 32% + 10% berse stance + 6% from tier 9 bonus set = 48%
my fury gear is the same as u can see on link with a weap more and arp is raised a bit to 38,94% from gear.
now my answer is u think takin out greatness card and asquiring the MR so basicaly to get arp caped if i am not wrong MR proc is 53% , will help me dps more? even in arms spec or fury (mainly atm askin for arms since fury will go when i get a better of hand)
so loosin 180 ap from greatness and it's proc is worth it to get arp caped every 45 secs and more crit from it's base stats?
i am completely ignorant about arp and it's dps output so sorry if i am askin any stupid things

Sadly, even on Blackhand things can go badly; read Sturmm's forum thread. Happily, the server's GDKP culture has matured to the point where others will surely pick up the baton.

Now look at the response other servers can get, have a quick browse over these threads. They got the opposite reaction to what people have had on other realm forums, heres just two:

1 - World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> GDKP - Gold based system to run pugs
2 - World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> [A] ToC 25 GDKP

Reponses include delights such as, "Please dont bring this to our server", "ml at the end RUNS OFF WITH EVERYONES GOLD AND SAYS LOLOLOL@ALLOFU".
In 1, the poster made the mistake (that I've seen others do) of 1) quoting your entire GDKP post and 2) proposing the idea for discussion, as opposed to the fait accompli of stating a day and time when a GDKP run will happen. Your post is superb, Tyrian, but you surely agree that it was meant to be referred to and selectively quoted from, not dumped en masse to the random masses (as much as I hate the "TL;DR" culture, there is some truth to the notion). As for 2), forum idiots anywhere may be mouth-breathers in real life but have an amazing ability to, like sharks, sense weakness and blood in the water.

In 2, I agree that the poster did a much better job in his initial post. He made two mistakes: a) He still posed GDKP as a theory to be debated, as opposed to "I'm doing this at this day and that time. Sign up here if interested." b) He got into an argument with that other pickup-raid organizer. Raid leader #2 reserves BoEs for himself, we learn; as condemnable as that sort of behavior is, were I the original poster I wouldn't have brought it up when my purpose is discussing GDKP, not why another player's rules deserve criticism.

Then compare things like that with the first post you made regarding GDKP on Llane forums: World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Crusader 25 GDKP run Sun 8 Nov 8pm server . A list immediately full of people eager to be signed up.
I got lucky; I very, very much feared that some moron would latch onto the post and start mocking it, attracting others (sharks and blood, again). It was pure luck that that didn't happen. While that risk still exists, of course, every successful GDKP run further shuts up naysayers.

It's also common to read people respond with things like, "Its a great idea, but wont work on our server".

This brings up the interesting question - why? Who decides or is responsible for whether GDKP would or wouldn't work? How can the realm population attitude vary so much between servers?
Unless a server is extremely at one end of the bell curve, all those claims of "It won't work here" are simply nonsense without empirical testing. As previously mentioned, Llane is in every respect utterly average; nonetheless, I've seen many, many claims in the server forum and in Trade chat that people are leaving the server, or that newcomers shouldn't bother with the server because there aren't any high-end raiding guilds (there are; they just aren't, say, Top 50 worldwide), or that the economy is broken, etc., etc. People extrapolating their personal failures onto the server, more or less.

Blackrock is a big server that has been around since WoW's release. Many guilds and players have been around since day one, including a good number of the best-progressed guilds. There have been a few free transfers off the server, but the last one was 3 years ago. Many good PUG raids are led by players (eg alts) from big, established guilds. Some guilds did 'cash runs' during BWL and ZG, selling bears. Many people who lead GDKP raids are from established, respected guilds. This lets them draw on the backbone from their guilds with ease, which helps facilitate initial success. Said guilds often have players that have been playing WoW a long time, and are already familiar with the idea of cash runs (and variants thereof). Because these guilds are quite old/established, nearly everyone who has been on the server a while will know them by name quite well.
Llane is a medium-to-large launch-day server. While I don't believe any current top raiding guild has been around since day one, the majority has existed since vanilla. I am not aware of any free transfers ever occurring on the server. I--a player on the server since a month after release, but never guilded--am, so far, the only person to lead GDKP runs. Every run from the first has attracted attention from said top guilds, though, which I am certain helped to draw others ("If so-and-so from <Insomniacs> and that guy from <Annihilation> are going, this must be good!"); again, pure luck.

Just plug in your gear to Rawr and it will tell you what gems and gear are better. Spirit gets better once you have the 2pcT9 bonus. Still wouldn't be stacking spirit in anyway, although I wouldn't necessarily avoid it on gear for other stats. Rawr should show that in the case of blue slots you should use a 12sp 10spirit gem instead of a 23 spellpower gem.

Spirit gains value the more of it you have basically, because it becomes crit and that's one of your main focuses as FFB.
