My first post to discuss something that is bothering me... I checked on RAWR (both versions 2.2.7 and the new 2.2.9), and it keeps telling me that I should use the RIP idol over my courrent Shred idol.
I suspect RAWR somewhat disagrees on Night's ponderation on stats as it slighty prefers agi gems over arpen gems... Weird thing though, it also says that my Meteorite Whetstone is one of the best trinknet pre ulduar for me. I am currently farming the darkmoon agi trinket, so it won't be a problem anymore soon :-)
I have been healing with my druid since I hit 80 (I played feral tank in tbc), and even if it has been months now, I am still trying to work out how to best fulfill my role, and what that role actually is. I have read extensivelly many posts on this forum, and it has brought up some thoughts. Although some of those may be better suited to other threads, they all in the end pertain to resto druid pve healing. So, here goes:
In my guild, my raid setup allows me to be almost exclusively a raid healer. There are very rare occasions when I am obliged to serve as tank/off tank healer (Auriaya pull mostly). I have been thinking about kicking out Tranquil spirit from my talent tree, and putting the saved points into Nature's grace and Natural perfection (I can gain another point that I need by stealing from Revitalize).
I would also remove Nourish glyph and put in Regrowth glyph. At the moment I have three t8 pieces, and if I get shoulders I will have 4 set bonus which will kick up my Rejuvenation considerably and add even more to my haste rating.
Those changes are a result of the change in playstyle I have implemented since starting 25 man raids. While I was healing in heroics, RJ, LB + Nourish worked wonders for tank healing, but, in 25 mans there is simply no time to stack multiple hots on many raid members. So I have started relying very heavily on regrowth as my primary hot and direct heal. I combine with WG, and I toss RJ around whenever I know I can expect heavy damage on multiple targets (frozen blows on Hodir is one example). LB does not even enter the rotation (except when on tank).
By pumping up my crit with Natural perfection and adding more haste on proc with Nature's Grace, I think that regrowth becomes much more functional then Nourish. I have had 4k hps output already on heavy damage fights, and I think it can go up. So, contrary to some posts claiming that haste and crit are both (in different amounts) not so important as spell power and/or pure stats, I have found them more than useful.
It might have been better if I rolled paladin But, my druid is my first and only love, and I wish to be able to give the best possible performance.
So, what do you think of the changes I propose?
And on the topic of saving people - "Move out of damn cave-ins" is a rule of thumb. Who doesnt, dies.
Just a shot in the blue: did you have a Curse of Elements?
(When we do hardmodes, we usually go Ulduar 10, so sometimes theres no Lock around)
As far as I'm aware of no positive effect of Spell Pen has been reported for PvE so far. It is thought that partial resists are due to the +3 level of the boss and are somewhat like glancing blows for melees.
The best way for me to reach that currently would be to re-gem. So my question is would it be more beneficial for me to re-gem (16 ag -> 16 ArP, 27 ag -> 27 ap) losing crit and AP but gaining ArP (up to 571 fully gem'd)? or should I hold off and try to acquire ArP through base stats on gear? Running 10 mans for the Runestone (and hopefully Dark Matter trinket one day soon) and need to get the boots (Living Scale) made.
Maybe I should already doing be doing better dps as MM and it's just my playstyle letting me down. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..
Plug your gear into the spreadsheet and fiddle with things until the numbers go up.
As for playstyle, one of the most important things about MM is making sure you do your shot priority correctly. If you're firing SS when you could be firing AiS, or if you don't have (nearly) 100% SrS uptime, your DPS will suffer.
Cast sequence macros are terrible in a place like Ulduar. There is far too much movement and target switching to make them functional in any sort reliable manner.
The only place you're going to be abe to use something like that reliably is on a Patchwerk type fight...of which there are NONE in Ulduar. Give up on trying to find an "easymode" method of DPS and learn to do it the right way, you will be doing yourself a far greater service.
I have been a balance druid since a started and when i hit 40 i loved being a mage wrapped in a plate tortia now at 80 with dual specs i decided to do something i NEVER did before, i chose feral as my second spec. Not for the dps but for tanking becuase that was they always seem to need. So i gather up gear from time to time through raids... but
IDOLS!!!!!! the badge ones are all for kitty dps..... What should i do? someone suggested i get the lvl 70 badge one until i can get one from uldar to drop.
also while on the subject what do you feel is the best idol for Balance and Tanking idols
I didn't shuffle pts in my original post. but after u suggested messing w/ the aspect usage, i tried shuffling a pt around.
I set it on always on and removing sil shot still results in higher dps.
Leaving everything alone from a fresh spreadsheet except aspect usage to always on and removing sil shot from the shot rotation gives me 8634.47 dps.
So far i have enjoyed reading this thread very much and love that there is one place where 'Solo-Hunters' can share experience and ideas.
I am slowly getting bored with raiding and so i have taken up soloing. After watching some youtube video's i've noticed that there is a big lack of good quality hunter solo video's. The only person that has good quality videos on youtube is SKHope (who has posted on this thread a few times).
So i have taken it upon myself to start frapsing my solo adventures and so far i have only been focusing on MC. The only boss right now that is stopping me is Golemagg, so since my turtle is only 77 still i will be leveing him up to 80 before going back.
When i make my video's i try my best to explain what to do in the video's, so hopefully if anyone is having trouble on an encounter they can check my videos out for help =)
Here is my YouTube page - I only have Sulfuron and Garr for MC so far, I have more i just havn't had time to render them yet. I also did Attumen since i was bored one day...as usual lol. Eventually I will be doing AQ20 and ZG once MC is done.
