If only it worked like that! Unfortunately the gem is only counted as active for the colour of socket you place it in. So for example, on a helm with a meta + a yellow socket, placing the Tear into the yellow socket will result in a count of one yellow gem active. That's all well and good, but that still leaves you with the blue to match, and you're probably better off using the Tear there instead as it's of greater benefit than any of the alternative purple gems, and pair it with a +hit/+str yellow in the helm's socket.

This is the way prismatic gems (e.g. pre-3.2 Dragon's Eyes) have always worked.

After reading many of the post, id like to see some numbers in respect to necrosis 3/5 vs desolation 5/5, visa verse, i believe 5/5 necrosis would be better in fights that require one to run around constantly instead of the patchy style tank and spank, since from what I've seen most fights require movement now, more so than before.

And as for the Icy Talon points, i believe they are better spent in Icy reach 2/2 or as the above post said 1 icy 1 lich.

This is incorrect. As Zuu has said one nightmare tear will act as a red, blue and yellow gem. Prismatic gems counted as all 3 colours regardless of what socket they were placed in.

just getting in to ulduar and some new loots. my arp is 219 is now and im noticing more dps and damage. i heard 300 arp was the magic number to switch to MM spec. currently im SV spec.

Fire and Brimstone: Reduced to 2/4/6/8/10% increased damage from Incinerate and Chaos Bolt on targets afflicted with Immolate, down from 3/6/9/12/15%.

Desolation is a buff that is applied to you, not a debuff applied to a target.

The World of Warcraft Armory
This is the char that is doing about 1,5 - 2k more DPS than me on EVERY encounter.
His weapon and ArP is way better than mine, but I'm still not sure if gear can improve DPS that much?

My stats are
AP 3384
Crit 34,96%
Hit 180 I know, not capped.
Expertise 26 I know, not capped.
ArP 29:15
And Betrayer of Humanity as weapon.

His stats are higher than mine, but I still wonder if that's the 1,5 - 2k difference?

Can't link my armory it refuses to show my DPS gear.

I was wondering what people think about dropping 1 point out of necrosis for 1 into subversion for 3% OB and BS crit along with 8% threat reduction which is always nice, especially on aoe fights, http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deat...&version=10192

There's not much to think about it, and what little there may be has already been said a thousand times over. Taking Subversion, even now, is a slight dps loss. If you think that is worth the threat reduction, then go for it. If threat is not a factor, then don't. There is no right or wrong answer.
