Would appreciate if some of you guys would give me an answer to a simple question:
What do you think a raiding hunter should pick as his profs in WOTLK?
Atm I'm alch/LW [rerolled when my guild have entered Sunwell, for obvious reasons],but considering that due to my limited play time [read bloody demanding work :<] I'll not be able to level an alt up to 80 for quite some time I'm curious to find out what profs am I sposed to get...the more i read the less i know it seems.
LW seems to be good with bracer/leg bop "enchants" Alchemy is also good but the one gathering should be included also...which one? LW+skinning or herb/alch? Atm that's my dilemma.
esdf are the movement keys for my setup.
My keybindings are as follows:
1: Invuln belt/battlemaster trink/healthstone macro
4: trinket one (usually pvp trink), shift+4: trinket two
q: blind, shift+q: prep
w: kick, shift+w: wotf
a: kidney shot, premed while stealthed
c: ghostly strike, sap while stealthed
v: eviscerate, garrote while stealthed, shift+v: envenom
g: hemo (g is always my main attack), cheap shot while stealthed, shift+g: cloak of shadows
r: gouge, ambush while stealthed, shift+r: deadly throw
y: spare keybind, usually for adrenaline rush when I spec combat, shift+y: shiv although I think there might be a better place for it
h: expose armor, shift+h: thistle tea
b: mh weap swap macro, shift+b: offhand weap swap macro
j: reply to whisper
u: bandage, shift+u: cannibalize
6-0 are various gear swaps
spacebar is jump, shift+space is unbound because in a bg it will toggle the scoreboard while you're trying to fight
My mouse has a button on the side which I use for shadowstep or cold blood mutilate. I have ms up as distract, ms down as adamantite grenade, and shift+ms down as frost grenade.
There, Gladiator rogue keybinds.
It's going to be a pain in the ass fitting dismantle, fan of knives, and any other goodies I pick up into this, I'm pretty maxed out without resorting to control (which doesn't work cause of the stupid fucking windows button)
Something I find helps a lot that I don't see people do as often as I expect, rather than simply binding abilities to my mouse, I bind the modifier keys to my mouse and effectively each of my mouse keys can give me access to another 12 buttons (6 comfortably while using WSAD) Example:
2 Sinister Strike
5 Slice and Dice
Alt-1 Escape Artist
Alt-3 Expose Armor
Alt-4 Cloak of Shadows
Alt-5 N/A (Will see wrath use)
Alt-6 Blade Flurry
Other vital rogue stuff bound to F1-F5, but those are irrelevant to the mouse issue, which is that I use an MX 518 (Used an MX1000 for years, it finally just bit the bullet, MX518 was the closest in terms of comfort and function I could find. Dislike revolution and others), but it's got two thumb buttons, one of which I use as Alt (IE Thumb button + 4 = cloak of shadows, just as easy as hitting 4 once the muscle memory is there) and the other is Ctrl, which I would bind to another bar except for all of the uses of pet bars that I don't like to rebind. In LK when the siege UI is more commonplace I'll probably use it since rogues will require more hotkeys on demand than currently.
I think the benefits of playing like this are pretty clear, but obviously the correct answer for keybinds is whatever you can become accustomed to, which will always just take time to develop, and whatever works most comfortably and quickly. Oh, and Alt+F4 has killed me two or three times ever, so I'd recommend a different key if you're not already used to it :P (I can just as easily alt+1-6 without touching the mouse if I want to, so I'm stuck with it).
