Currently my guild is raiding Naxx and OS. In Naxx, at tops my DPS was hitting 1900-2100. In OS on Sath, I had 1700. I am very concerned with my DPS, as I have heard it should be in the near 4k's. I'm following the spec and rotation that I have been told is best 5s/5r/5e using WP/WP .... I don't understand why my DPS is failing so much. Anyone have any idea? Am I missing something? Here is my Armory: The World of Warcraft Armory

I've played a rogue since the days of MC and always read about the class, watched videos, theorycrafted, lurked EJ, used spreadsheets, and my DPS was always within my expected range. I've outdpsed far better geared rogues in the past and topped MH+ Charts so while I may not be a top top rogue from the world, I'm definitely not mediocre.
Yet since WOTLK, I've noticed something awful with Combat DPS. My DPS as Combat was around 2100-2400 at best too, and my gear was slightly better than yours (I had Greed for example). Since I switched to Mutilate, my DPS changed to 3200-3500. My Global Raid DPS was slightly higher than 2400 as Combat because of BF-FoK-KS-FoK and God knows there's so much AoE in Naxx, but even though I performed all rotations correctly and adapted to situations as fast as possible, I could not get past 2400.
I still feel however I'm doing something wrong. There are fights when I'm fully buffed that I can at best keep up 3000 DPS as Mutilate while mages skyrocket to 3900-4000. I never let SnD or HfB drop and try to keep Rupture up all the time, but I can't help but feel that there's something not right.

A couple quick things to check. First of all, are you specced properly, that is, no Deadly Brew/Quick Recovery/etc? Second, are you using Envenom as your 3rd finisher of choice? Is Instant Poison on your fast weapon, and are you main handing it? Are you doing your finishers based on a 4+ regimen or are you only doing 5cp finishers (the latter of which is wrong)?
Don't put too much stock in individual fights. Caster will crush me on Noth/Patchwerk or even Loatheb at times. I get back at them on KT/Maexxna/Faerlina, I think. It all goes back and forth at times. Use the spreadsheet and plug in your gear and applicable buffs, and from there see if you match up with it on, say, Patchwerk.
Besides all that, go back and read through the first couple pages of most of the threads on this sub-forum.

keyboard layout.
Im a huge fan of Clique + Grid. Just keybind ur heals to ur mouse and away u go.. Shift Left Mouse for LB. Shift Right Mouse Rejuv. MB4 Regrowth, MB5 Healing touch and various others for SM, NS, WG and Nourish. Tranq normally just leave it on 1-4 with other stuff. Good thing about Clique is u don have to target then click u just click whoever ur trying to heal.

I am having the same problem. My gear is like this, The World of Warcraft Armory. My spec is 7/51/13. Im using the 5n/5r/5e. When I have a fury warrior doin 4-7k dps on fights, and the other dps in the 3-6k, my damage isnt cutting it. Im getting anywhere from 2.8k-3.6 depending on the fight. Im not even getting in the top 10 in dps. Is it just raid dps is just that good or am I doin something wrong? Am I going to have to go mutilate to produce for the guild or wait til my grp gets more crit to go HaT? Any info will help.

Is it worth noting that hitting a mob does damage? This has been discussed to death by now, is in the TTT, so I don't think it should be necessary.

I did hear that the 4 horsemen would be the same except leaving room for some to be tanked by a lock or someone of that nature. Not certain on this.

AP vs. AGI
I apologize if this question is off-topic, or has already be mentioned in this thread, but I could find no other suitable place for it, my searches turned up no results, and and I do not have the time to read through the entirety of this thread, as I have an Exam to prepare for.
I am currently a raiding Mutilate spec (51/13/7), and my gear consists fairly evenly of heroic, 10man, and 25man drops. Using the most up-to-date spreadsheet I have found, Roguecraft LK 0.4.0., I am finding that while raid buffed, even with Kings, 2AP>1AGI. Now, I see two possible causes. The first is that the spreadsheet is bugged, and 1AGI>2AP. The second, and what I believe is more likely, is that the additional crit chance from AGI is so low per point, that 2AP is truly greater than 1 AGI, at least for my current setup. I want to see if any other rogues are experiencing the same situation, and also maybe some theory crafting as to whether or not AGI will overtake AP as gear levels rise.

I REALLY suck
Alright guys I have a problem, I'm currently on a 15/51/5 build as a combat swords rogue.
My stats are:
Agi: 809
Stam: 769
AP: 2,971
Hit: 194
Crit: 19.42%
and 19 expertise.
I'm by no means proud of this and know it's terrible (inb4 u suck etc - I know it's true) and I've come here for help i do a measly 1.1k dps on the rotation of
"
1. opening with garrote, 1 Sinister strike and then going onto a S+D
2. 5pt Slice and Dice
3. 5 pt Rupture
4. If >12 seconds envenom
5. reverting to step 2"
Pretty much which was recommended earlier in the thread.
Quite basically I'm coming to you guys shamelessly to ask me for help in what needs to be improved so I can start going to Naxx and start getting some nice DPS.
Please try hold back on the insults :P

Combat highly benefits alot from hitrating and expertise, try raising those values to start with.
Wich swords are you using?
Can you provide a wws report so we can take a look at what's happening?

My personal set:
- q: lifebloom mouseover, with shift: wild growth
- e: regrowth mouseover, with shift: depoison
- c: rejuvenation mouseover, with shift: decurse
- z: nourish
- 2: swiftmend
- 3: NS+healing touch
Nourish is a bit new for me, and I noticed i have to fold my fingers really weird to press it, so I will find a new home for that, as well as a shift-modifier for healing-touch casting. Q, E and C also have an alternate action when the target is harmful and no mouseover is targeted (Wrath, Starfire and Moonfire respectively), for solo-play.
I currently have this configured with macros, but I'm considering moving to Clique.
