For those reasons, I consider Crit our weakest stat that we gear to (weaker than INT, Mp5, haste and SP). If you want throughput, increase haste and SP, if you want regen, increase INT and Mp5. I see no reason to really focus on crit at all.

For the record: I play a Pala as an alt/holy, so.
You can´t count on crit when you really need it; but then again: can you count on saving the tank by the maybe 4% more haste or 75 mp5 more you got by ignoring crit?Certainly not. But still is crit a viable stat. It supports Illumination mana return (yea yea it got nerfed OMG, but it still works with the same mechanics) and throughput. Beside it´s influencing your possible spell choice (Holy Shock, FoL). Especially for one of the mainly assigned jobs for Paladins: Tank healing, crit isn´t unvaluiable at all. It happens constantly that you can use it. Just giving it higher EP, doesnt mean you should gem for it; of course not.
Furthermore: to gain a 1,4 sec Holy Light with basic buffs (JotP, Wrath of Air Totem, Swift Ret/Moonkin) you need only about 350 Haste; 750 for 1,3 sec casts (including talent buffs ofc) Thats a given by normal gear choice.
Mp5 has proven to be a "to be ignored stat". Blizz announced it´s being removed in cataclysm; thats one thing. Abilities to regen/save mana we got enough, so having 40 mp5 more or not is not going to decide if you will be oom or not at the end of the fight.
I ignore any mp5.Having the choice between an item with equal stats, except it got Haste and Crit instead of mp5 and haste OR crit I always will choose the one with haste and crit. Int imo is superior in any way concering regen compared to mp5.
