that might be true, but the the justification ghost crawler gave was from the pvp side.

It was easily hitting for too much in PvE too. One of the most obvious hotfixes.

I doubt we will be in a bad place even after this change dpswise, though it does again leave us with some odd talent picking. I'll try to see how it's affected my own dps in a live environment if we get the Icecrown raid rolling tonight/weekend.

If the dps now warrants a buff, I would very much like to see SS added to Unholy Blight as well. It would make those talents feel more cool at the same time.

well

honestly, the SS nerf is just the design teams biggest failures. They opted to try to get players to take reaping and failed miserably.

I'm suspecting most players will go back to an Obliterate type spec, since SS at it's current state is terrible and besides the fact.

Right now, my melee white swing crits are on par if not higher than my Scourge Strike crits. Which is sad. I have no doubt that in a raiding environment, 2 BS > 1 SS, which is what blizzard was trying to fix, but instead just made a whole lot worse.

The nerf also is going to make every PVP arena DK, go shadowfrost. Great.

thanks ghostcrawler.

Please cut the whining, there are other forums for that.

We won't go back to Obliterate, thats a given, the new SS is not super bad in pve. It will range from 8-10k hits to 16-20k crits in a raid setting I assume.

I hope they go fool around with something, so they can come up with a way to keep SS attractive without it being OP. But seriously, if you were any bit realistic you could see this one coming.

The pvp issue is large, but this is not a pvp topic. And i doubt PvP could be fixed with SS simply because of the mechanic behind it.

No, if anything, the highest it'll crit now is probably 12k and that'd be pushing it. UH pretty much died from this one nerf, accompanied by the UB nerf, 4t9 nerf.

I have reported a Bug on the WOW Bug forums. Be careful with parses of logs after this mornings hotfix to SS. Currently there is a large bug with SS when diseases are not on the target.

I was testing SS with no diseases to make a baseline for theory crafting and saw that when no diseases are on the target, the shadow portion of the attack is not applied. When diseases are on the target, the shadow portion is applied.

I don't understand? How is that a bug? It's how it works now, if you have no diseases on the target, there is no shadow damage. It even states this in the tooltip.

One disease is 25% shadow damage, two is 50%, three is 75%.

Im pretty sure that's by design. The shadow portion only does damage based on the number of diseases on the target. If there are none, no damage will be dealt.

I've also noticed that the number of crits went down. Normaly a bit more then 50% of my SS were crits now it's round 34%.
Also a strange thing, biggest hit seem to be biggger then biggest crit.

Read the tooltip again. "For each of your diseases..." According to that if you don't have any diseases on target, there is no shadow damage to be dealt. Besides, it always worked like this.
Would you prefer seeing zero above mob's head?

This is due to damage meters storing both the physical and shadow parts as the same ability (so every time you use it with diseases on the target it looks like two attacks). Your biggest hit is that big because its from the shadow part (which can't crit), and your crit rate is low because your total number of attacks includes all the shadow hits (which can't crit).

I have been reading the treads for the patch 3.3. I am currently a blood dk tank with the build off this forum. But what is all this talk about DW frost spec is now viable? Is this now a superior build for ICC?

Noob rogue here. I mainly use my assassin spec. I have 2500+ gs and my chest and helmet are the Conqueror's Terrorblade set w/ rupture energy bonus.

1. What are the next couple of armor sets I should be shooting for?
2. What armor sets can I mix with these two Terrorblade pieces?
3. Is it worth it to shoot for all four Terrorblade pieces for the full set bonus, or should I be shooting for a higher teir set?

Thanks!
