I have searched mage forums trying to find someone asking or posting information on the changes made to the enchant to weapon, Black Magic. My information says that it increases haste rating by 250 and procs on average every 15 sec. My mage is my alt, Yoshiko on sisters of elune. Anyone have the numbers to see if Black magic would be better for dps of 62sp to 1h or 81sp to staff?
In ICC this week My guild Go Big or Go Gnome went 3/12 in 25 man in roughly 7 hours of raiding; My dps is lowest among the members between 4800-5500. I know from World of Logs that top DPS in ICC for lock has been in upwards of 9k dps. I am continually frustrated by this discrepency in my play and have thought alot about rerolling an easier dps class like a ret pally lol. But my guild has said my raid awareness makes up for this deficiency. I've been playing for about 4 years and feel like i should be better than this this is my 3rd raiding toon.
I open up with Immolate, then COE (b/c most of the time we lack a boomkin) but when our boomkin is available i throw up COD; then conflag; three incinerates; chaos bolt then corruption, then refresh all as needed; with priotity to imm, conflag, chaos bolt, then corruption.
My latency is pretty good in raids i run on T1 at about 85 latency in ICC; Run a Framerate of about 25 in ICC.
IDK whats wrong with me; from the 3.3 changes it seems like the conflag changes were just a nerf to pvp and a buff to pve but idk whats wrong with my play. IS it my gear? Rotation? Spec? Gemming? I need help before i /wrist.
After having taken a wow break since late BC and just beeing back for 4-5 days played at lvl 80 I kind of struggle to understand the current roguecraft theory and recommendations. Thanks to the pocket guide and FAQs I understand the basic changes and principles. The information I can't find in this forum is whether the 20/51/0 combat now is the "must have" at all gear levels or if it is a build only viable at T9,25+? If the latter is true, what are the current recommendations for combat builds in "mid game", i.e. an equip lvl just short of T9 (i.e. a gear lvl around 230)? Sticking with Rupture and some variation of 18/51/2, 15/51/5?
Short and most precise answer: Check a spreadsheet.
But yes, 20/51 is best for all levels of gear as far as I can tell from the spreadsheet.
Edit: That is, 20/51 with 3/3 blood splatter.
Thank you so much. I wouldn't have asked if I hadn't had some troubles with the spreadsheets... last time I checked they had some missing items in the low range. ;-) It's easy to include lv232 Armor of Shifting Sands or a Naxx-Cloak, but I'm lost, when it comes to modelling of meteorite whetstone (yeah, a real itemization problem ;.), but Rawr gives a strong recommendation). If you just go from blueish equip to 3.2 epics, equip composition and "strong" stats kind of get mixed up and get atypical compared to the "usual" equip obtained by normal progression.
Edit: I double checked with the spreadsheets, just assuming another low itemlevel trinket, and evis only and rupture appear to be nearly on par.
Edit: PS: still true for 2/2 Blood splatter ;-) Evis is just 30dps behind...
Ive seen a couple places in diff blogs that do mention a increas ein dps around 200 or more especially if you have 4 piece t9 bonus, in game tutoring and in my own testing; but ill take a look at it again, i dont think that would account for my 2k dps defecit; and your snideness wasnt helpful. Anyone else have any actual advice?
Why do you use three incinerates after your initial conflag instead of Chaos Bolt + 2 Incinerates? The haste proc from Conflag makes all three of those quicker and Chaos Bolt is a stronger nuke than Incinerate. I've always tried to fit a Chaos Bolt after Conflag as often as I can. However, your issue may more likely be related to your itemization and stats than your rotation, and that's not something that's done here. I will say that with the information given it will likely be difficult for anyone to ascertain your problem.
just wondering, as i cant seem to find a clear answer anywhere..
what is the armor penetration rating cap? by this i mean, on a raid boss with 5 sunders & faerie fire, and a rogue with no mace spec, and not counting any trinket procs/uses or any other armor penetration at all other than straight rating off of gear.. what is the number where it no longer adds dps at all?
Armor Penetration Rating
Armor penetration cap is not affected by target debuffs (ie. sunder/faerie fire)
so the caps are as follows:
Hello fellow hunters.Since i didn't have any chances at taking any trinket with ArP i was gemming ArP and i have 70% .Now i have the new trinket from FoS and when it procs i'm above the ArP cap.Do you think if regemming some of my gear with Agility instead ArP that there will be any improvements in my DPS ( i will still be capped when the trinket procs)?
maidofury, Chamenas makes a good point. Chaos Bolt should definitely be cast when its up. So should Conflag. Done as soon as possible, you'll have more conflags than chaos bolts. don't try to keep them timed together. As a general rule of thumb, for every 4 chaos bolts, you should have 5 conflags.
Incinerate is your filler spell, use that only when you can't conflag or chaos bolt. It should still make up about half of your damage against single targets.
With 4pt9, in the right circumstances, you can gain a little dps from using corruption. However, I only recommend using it if you need a spell to cast on the run. Its more a trick to squeeze every last point of dps you can, once you've gotten everything else working flawlessly. It doesn't sound like that is the case, so skip it for now. Keep the rotation simple.
Against a static target, you should be able to pull upwards of 7k with raid buffs, or 4.5 without.
