You're arguing against the use of the blood presence builds here without acually comparing their rotation to your own.
The point of having Epidemic in the unholy tree is so your rotation can be based on a 20 second build instead of reapplying the diseases every rune cooldown. This allows your second set of runes (which should be DDFFUU at the time) to be used on 3 obliterates and any number of Rime procs/frost strikes.
What kind of rotation do you use in unholy presence? I loved the old FS spam 2h builds, but even in blood presence in a 20 second rune rotation I use every rune and most all of the rp generated by it. Reducing the GCD by half a second doesn't have any benefit if you have nothing to do with the extra time.
The other downside to unholy presence is it doesn't add anything to your diseases. In that I mean they tick at the same rate and should always be up, but are lacking the 15% damage bonus.
Quick bugging question again, although this was sort of answered, I wanted to check specifically one thing.
If there's ever a time I'm spending one GCD in movement, should I ALWAYS refresh a dot, regardless of time left? (Assuming Typhoon, Trees, and Starfall are on CD of course)
After finishing Putricide last night, I noticed that being the top DPS, I tried always refreshing whenever I had to move (Which was a LOT). Considering I'm topping at around 28,000 mana buffed I ended the fight at around 50% mana left still, so the high mana cost of MF isn't much of an issue.
So I have been doing some research, and I've been reading about Black Magic enchant being optimal for mut spec rogues, since poison procs count as a nature dmg spell proc. 250 haste on both daggers would be amazing. Is there any validity to these claims?
Hey guys, great explanation in the OP and the mod is excellent.
I've been running this on our server for about 5 weeks now and it has gathered steam quickly.
Last wee we walked away with 2332g each, but we got lucky with Solace and a DV drop.
I've noticed people usually go crazy over the trophies mostly, in our run they go for about 3-4k and the anub one goes for 1k higher when people realise its the last one and go mental over it.
Note that I wasn't recommending that anyone resets their diseases on each rune cooldown.. If you look at the little "simulation" thingy, I mentioned that you are REPLACING your plagues with other abilities using similar runes (HB to Oblit, PS to BS)
Edit: Yeah, damage not affecting diseases does suck. But apparently the buff itself gives me a lot more DPS. WHICH, I will admit, may depend a lot on currently equipped gear. But I'm trying to give ideas and experiences on why Unholy Pres seems to work out, because it does for me.
More haste, more crit, more raw sp (470), but 300 less spirit which in turn ends up to be more sp.
Hey there, doing some quick maths you can work out that Spirit from the original profile gives 567SP (873*0.59*1.1), and from yours 374SP (576*0.59*1.1).
Summed up that brings the original to 3905SP and your profile to 4179SP, however it's worth noting that while one of your trinkets gives a flat +168SP, DFO from the original profile gives its SP as a proc. From this link (Download 222Kb file) you can work out that the DPS value of DFO is about 630, and that at that level of gear haste is rated at about 1.45 (average). Thus, SP = (630 - (170*1.45))/1.5 = 256. This brings overall SP up to 4161 (original) compared to 4179 (new), of course you could always swap DFO into your profile to give 4267SP overall. This is a 106SP difference. Another thing to note is that your profile only gives 13% hit, which is perfectly fine for alliance, but as horde you'd need 14%, which was covered in the original profile. To get the extra hit, you'd probably just swap out SP/Haste gems for SP/Hit, which wouldnt affect the spellpower, but i thought that was worth mentioning.
Overall though your profile does look pretty nice, just thought it would be worth mentioning the trinket thing.

I'll admit, I noobed it up lately and missed the change for mainhands and offhands and poisons until now. I have heartpierce, but nothing really comparable in my offhand. I was using the 1.8 gouge from toc (245) in my offhand, because I wasn't able to get anything fast that's not 232 or lower. I do have the unsharpened ice razor ready to go and enchanted, which should I use, and in which hands?
heartpierce 264 226.7 dps 1.8
gouge of the frigid heart 245 196.7 1.8
unsharpened ice razor 178.9 1.4
my instinct says heartpierce main gouge offhand with dp/ip, just wanted to confirm or deny. thanks.
Your profile uses lightweave embroidery, which the wowhead profiler incorrectly displays as a passive bonus to spellpower. When you account for that, you have a 218 spellpower difference left, a difference that gets compensated for with trinkets.
Simcraft shows dislodged at 34% uptime, the way it stacks it averages out at 226 spellpower (the average spellpower 'during' the proc is 665.5sp), so it makes up for the lower spellpower with that. Then you're losing a 300 spirit (your secondary stat) for ~45 crit and ~100 haste- not a very good trade. I should note that the proc from reign is worth something aswell, but it's still going to be 300 spirit vs 45 crit, 100 haste, and reign's proc. In case you weren't sure, for demo the spirit definitely wins out in that match up.
The mind is like a parachute. It works best when it's open.
Since the third glyph slot for Combat is pretty flexible, I've been thinking of using Glyph of Slice and Dice, which the spreadsheet shows as a very minor downgrade from Glyph of Eviscerate (-6.5 DPS).
I'm unsure of what rotation to use, however. Back in the TBC days (with the T4 bonus that gave the same amount of extra SnD), I remember you could do stuff like 1pt SnD, 5pt Eviscerate, repeat. Are there better cycles than that now?
