Hmm, thanks for the raw numbers, thats what I needed. ~150 optimal DPS bonus is nothing shabby.. still not sure if I should change races though, I heard someone else who changed races and they said it was a huge mistake for them. Cash is not an issue but hey its cash.

I see Shadowed UF is getting popular. Good, I use it as well and think is one of the best UF around.

Weapon enchants

I got a frozen bone spike today in ICC25 and am debating on what weapon enchant to get. Typically I would go with a 63 spell power enchant. But I saw that they changed black magic to proc 250 haste rating. I am not familiar with the enchant or the changes though.

I would think that 250 haste would be far more beneficial then 63 spell power but I am not sure on the uptime of the black magic weapon proc. Sorry if this post seems redundant I may have skipped over some posts due to the length of this thread. I am at 630 haste rating before the totem of the electrifying wind proc and 3520sp.

I know it has been stated there is no haste cap but thought I would throw that in just in case it makes a difference. I also am unsure whether or not Blackmagic and the totem buff stack.

Thanks

That enchant has already been discussed on EJ's and they came to the conclusion that Black Magic and 63 SP are pretty much equal (I think Black Magic came out a little ahead by 6 or so SP), providing you don't get unlucky with the proc rate and that it doesn't proc as your about to move. Safest thing to do is get the 63 SP on your weapon, and yes the totem and the Black Magic proc do stack.

So anyone know how I would string together such a macro?

I'm sorry if i say something that has already been discussed, but i can't manage to find my answer. With the buffed proc of heartpiece, on a 5 minutes fight (festergut) i had about 308 energy regen from proc, wich is approximately 1 energy/sec. Dosen't it make heartpiece to catch up with rib-spreader as a MH (i'm talking about a muti spe off course^^)?

Firstly, thanks for the comments about Rawr modeling 2xT10. I was very reluctant to gem and chant two pieces if they were going to be a DPS decrease, will do so and test it out on the dummies.

Secondly, thanks for the updated Wrathcalcs. No more errors in OO Calc. Running through it now trying some different gear combos to compare.

Flasks vs. Potions

Will there come a time where stats will get so high, that raiding with an agility potion is better than an ap flask as feral dps?

My stats fully raid buff and with horn.

1125ap
68% crit
224 hit
19 expertise

As I read it I would gain rougly 1% more crit with agility potion.

At the moment I can not see any difference in my dps with or without a flask. I am at 8,5k-9k dps on a boss like suarfang. I have been arguing with my raidleader about using potions insted of flasks the past week he stands firm on using flasks.

Am I a total nutcase because I want to try this out?

The feral FAQ's look good. I have two small suggestions to add.

1) If you are going to include in a blurb about how Growl works, you may want to add in it is considered a spell (assuming this is still true) and additional information about its mechanics depending on how in depth you want to be for the FAQ. That might save a lot of "Hey, I'm melee hit capped/have Glyph of Growl and my Growl still misses!" questions.

2) You both have 'standard' bear specs which have points in different talents. You may want to have a shell spec that takes the essential talents for bear tanking, and then list other possible talent choices (similar to what Melthu did with what talents you could drop based on raid makeup/personal preference). This might reduce "Why x talent over y talent" questions with regard to tanking spec's.

Fire nova and haste

Is fire nova totem that good, with so much moving around on many bosses or do you use 2 set of dps talents to deal with that ?

I saw a guide with icc25 hc gear, where it was all gemmed with haste, reason was that theres enough ap on the gear and haste would benefit more, is that so ?

I couldnt find on your forum, what haste is recommended to have a good rotation, i only have 247 haste, cause i gem ap in all gems.

It bothers me that you list the Insect Swarm glyph as baseline, given the tradeoff of tank avoidance for a bit of dps.

Unglyphed, IS adds 3% of quality avoidance outside of DR. I say "quality" because chance-to-be-missed is the best possible avoidance given that it works regardless of the tank's facing or being stunned, feared etc. Disregarding that entirely, it's still 3% avoidance outside of DR which is solid.

The buff is also unique for all practical purposes - the only other source is hunters' Scorpid Sting, which would come at a much greater dps cost as it replaces Serpent Sting.

At the moment I write this post I'm at work so I don't have access to Rawr or in-game testing etc; I'll go out on a limb and do the math below to figure out how much dps the glyph adds.

Insect Swarm
Assuming 4000 spellpower to be optimistic
(1290 / 6) + (4000 * 1.2 /6) = 1015 per tick
7 Ticks with talents = 7105 total dmg before buff/debuff modifiers
7105 * 1.03 * 1.03 * 1.13 = 8518 total dmg in a raid environment
8518 / 14 = 608.43 dps unglyphed
608.43 * 0.3 = 182.53 dps gain from glyph

If we glyph IS on the assumption that the MT "doesn't need" 3% extra avoidance, we might as well follow the same logic and have tanks gear and spec for increased dps. The reality is that MT's taking on seriously hard-hitting bosses (Festergut springs to mind) increase their survivability by all possible means. Would you agree with an MT trading away 3% solid undiminished avoidance for a personal dps gain of ~183? That is precisely what glyphing IS amounts to.

But if the aim of the moonkin player is not to increase the success rate of his raid but rather to play the mini-game of "meter smashing" then I suppose he's right to glyph IS.

About the Feral FAQs:

Given the gear level of the people looking at this, I wouldn't advise points in Feral Aggression for cats. Bite just won't be a large enough % of damage done for it to be worthwhile. Possibly consider modifying the talent specs to leave the 'floater' points out completely and offer them as possible options instead.
Additionally, consider adding the glyphs on the talent links.

With most ferals likely not having a second DPS-cat or second Bear spec as offspec for AoE, I'd be hesitant about leaving out the points in Feral Instinct for improved Swipe.

Furthermore, I probably would list Idol of Mutilation as the prefered Idol for now. Frost Emblems are likely better spent on gear other than the Idol, and the ramp up time on Crying Moon makes it dubious at best whether or not it'll be superior. On something like Saurfang it will be, but anything involving target switches may well see its value drop dramatically.

About Hysteria: considering the debate currently ongoing about whether or not to put it on the DKs themselves or Ferals, I'd be less emphatic about proclaiming the Feral as best choice.

Ignorance can be solved with a book. Stupidity requires a shotgun and a shovel.

Hi Cathela

Great post so far. Can you link the ToC (table of contents) to improve the navigation or make one thread and reserve some post numbers. It would ease the process of reading your manual... specially if you just need it for reference.
