Is combat viable for high end raiding, or is it just plain stupid to pass on the extra single target dps mutilate provides? I've played combat ever since I switched from warlock to rogue in tbc, and every combat ability must be imprinted into my fingers by now. I've gotten ahold of two 232/219 daggers and I've been trying mutilate, and it seems that it can already match my dps in raids if I do it correctly, but then again I love combat. Is mutilate easy to play in raids? Or does it require some insane buttonsmashing and target changing since it's heavy on the single-target aspect?
In raids and pugs I pretty much always end up on top 3 if not first place, both on single target and aoe dps, and my gear isn't really that great. Obviously this tells us that yes, rogues are in a comfortable position these days, but would it be an obvious necessity to go mutilate to aspire for an endgame rogue?
I recently realized that Heartpierce was updated to grant 4 energy/2 seconds. the duration remains the same and so too does the attack power/stam. There might even be a change in the procrate (not tested, so i have no basis on this other than plain suspicion). This energy could make it well worthwhile. Also, the Lich King loot tables have been updated and the only things he drops are weapons. CRAZY weapons.
havin trouble...kinda hit a block. ive been at same dps for like 300-400 gs now and big upgrades at that wonderin if im doin anything wrong with my spec...i am the only hunter in my guild "that regularly raids) so need the imp HM but other than that i think im doin everything right...plz let me know if im doin anything wrong if yall could link a spec that puts out more dps than it would be greatly appreciated....thanks
Ok, I have a serious question for all the l33t boomers out there. I have a really awesome gear score, I've played around with my haste, and crit and sp to try to get more dps and no matter what I do, I can't seem to bring it up. I use a good rotation, FF, IS, MF, SF and my trees. I try to get everything out of what I have.
I've been talking to one of the top boomers on my server and he's got a pretty interesting spec, putting Owlkin frenzy into his tree.. which honestly has been nice. If I get hit, I get extra mana and more damage for a few seconds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm seriously at a loss here. My boomer's name is Megume on the Eonar realm.
I admit I have no math on me to back it up, but I was intending to go into it with a CH/HW/HW rotation mostly, with Riptide when it was off of CD for a faster set of Tidal Waves charges. Don't get to play with it until Friday though.
with the added Shadow Embrace im doing the following
Hellfire Rank 1(proc Meradin's Spyglass to 10 stacks), SB, SB, Haunt, CoA/UA(filler till haunt hits), NMIC, Corruption, CoA, UA, SB filler
if someone could help me out a bit it would be greatly appreciated. ill give more info if needed.
A simple question! Is combat really viable for endgame playing, or is it just plain downright stupid to pass on the extra 1-3 k dps mutilate gives you on single-target? I read somewhere that mutilate was the highest dps spec in the game, followed by combat, retribution, arcane mage etc. As combat I always finish amongst top 3 in whatever raid I am, if not first, and finish all my heroics with well over 45 % damage done. Is it obviously necessary for me to switch to mutilate since it is just as easy and comfortable to play, or does it require some insane focus and/or buttonsmashing in raids?
To narrow it down: I aspire to become an endgame rogue, hopefully one of the best on my server, do I have to switch to mutilate and just take the leap from combat?
While not being a fan of caster classes (mostly due to not really having tried them) I cannot particularly comment on the numbers, but being an ex-Psych major I might be able to provide a tidbit of insight into why the argument you exampled right near the end of your post about "Hard mode requiring lots of haste".
Your response to that is perfect, however from a psychological perspective haste will make the caster FEEL better, it makes you feel better to see the cast bar going by faster (and as a direct result you see the effect faster) while your busily pressing buttons - the speeding up aspect of haste means that it has a bigger effect on the mentality of the player. People like instant gratification, and by extension they like things that help gratification (seeing that big heal cast) come by faster.
Simply put: haste = faster cast = smaller delay between button pressed and spell finished casting = faster gratification =
Megume... SET BONUSES!!! What are you doing with all of those offset pieces? Also, you have way too much hit. Go get some tier and get rid of 150 hit (at least) and your numbers should improve.
I don't know what everyone else's opinion is of that Gearscore addon, but personally, I think it really serves as more of a hinderance for a lot of players than a help. Do not always assume Higher ilevel = Better... Higher ilevel typically means more spellpower, yes, but why would you take something that itemized poorly just because you gain ilevels?
I dont know why you have a ring with mp5 on it, either, there are tons of good rings avaliable in ICC. Imo just wait for your chance at the gunship25 ring... that mp5 is useless!
