You should use the spreadsheet to check what does higher damage. If 30 rage executes or slam. If you have Execute talented and glyphed for most people it should hit harder than Slam. Just play with the spreadsheet. With new weapons from heroic mode or legendary it will be more of a boost for Slam than Execute.

A new factor to put in this question is 4pcT10. In our standard rotation 2 of the 3 free gcd are one second only, using the gcd reduced T10 slams on those slots will be higher dps than Execute.

The rotation chart should look as follows:

0 BT
1.5 WW
3 T10 Slam > Execute > Slam
4 BT
5.5 Execute > any kind of Slam (Can reverse this and next gcd)
7 T10 Slam > Execute > slam
8 BT
9.5 WW

Hei guys, I wanted to switch from disc to holy for some weeks and test out what this class is currently capable of. I have a question for Blood queen like encounters where renew spam seems the only reasonable thing to do:

What are your experiences with the Glyph of Renew?
Would this spec be a viable option? - Priest (18/53/0)

Optional question: We are approaching the Lich King and I wonder what a Holy Priest could do in Phase1? I am decursing the plaque and feel pretty helpless in any other situation. The Raid dmg every 30 sec is healed by 2 druids and a schaman. 2 Paladins keep the tank alive. Should I just be saving mana for p2/3 where heavy and random raid damage occurs?

I tend not to glyph renew, but it depends on the situation. For encounters like Blood Queen where there is a raid wide damage aura I don't glyph renew. By not glyphing renew you can keep a HoT rolling on more people in the raid and the more powerful ticks are more likely to overheal.

Glyph of Renew is useful for fights where you are using renew to heal incidental raid damage. E.g. someone takes 8k damage so you pop a renew on them. A glyphed renew will get that person to full one tick (3s) sooner which is useful and you expect the last few ticks to overheal whether you're glyphed or not.

The spec you show is ok, but only if you find you are having mana issues. If I were trying to pick up Mental Agility I'd go with a spec like this. I couldn't imagine playing a Holy Priest without Surge of Light -- it's a far more worthwhile way to spend two talent points than +2% healing. I'd also shuffle that third point in Blessed Resilience to Healing Prayers. You'll be casting ProM on cooldown so 10% savings works out to roughly 40mp5 which I'd take over 1% healing if you're having mana issues.

If you have a [Spark of Hope], I'd recommend swapping it for one of your throughput trinkets instead of changing your spec. The spark is a solid 150-200mp5 if you're spamming instants with a good amount of haste. I found swapping [Purified Lunar Dust] out for my spark was enough to get me through Blood Queen in my 10 man even though we lacked replenishment.

Greetings
There's quite a wall of text in this thread already and i've been lately thinking of what to do with my emblems of frost, i wanted to go for 4 pieces t10, of which i already have 2 pieces, now, i'm wondering, is it worth going for 4 pieces as mutilate spec, or is it better to go for shoulders and gloves, and go for gangerous leggings, geist head and ikfirus chest?
I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but answer would be appreciated, also, please explain in short why this or why that so i can base my decision on that, thanks in advance.
Note: I'm really low on expertise and hit rating.

What we do is we have the 3 mages go zone defense on these. We each have an area to keep the orbs up, this greatly increases run time which typically become dps time instead.

Greetings Warrior friends,

I am using Landsoul’s spreadsheet which is an amazing gift, I have 2 questions.

#1 How come Ramaladni’s Blade of Culling lowers my overall DPS on the spreadsheet simulation?
I used to use 2x DBB (ilvl245).
Is this because of the speed 3.5 vs 3.6? And if so does anyone know what a 3.5 and 3.6 difference is with say 2 weapons of identical stats? Would it be about 100DPS? My reason for banking my secondary DBB was the stats of RBC 2 sockets for more armor pen and Expertise.

#2 I was thinking about swapping my T9 245 Legs for the 264 Crafted Legs since I have enough expertise to go without them but I was wondering why the spreadsheet says this is a DPS loss, do you think it is because of the 2PC T9 Bonus? Is it that good? Should i just wait and get 4PC t10 ?

Here is my armory The World of Warcraft Armory - Doomjuice @ Skullcrusher - Profile

Thank you!

Death and Decay

I wondered if I, as frost dps, am supposed to use Death and Decay as AoE?
Stupid question maybe I am new to DK but for me it seems like DD is most used as tanking?

Thanks

Nice work Chack! According to mmo-champion the 10man-dagger will have expertise instead of haste though. Keep up the good work!

I noticed that in the enchants section the Enchant Weapon - Black Magic is not commented yet.
This one adds a 250 haste rating for 10 secs. when it procs. Proc. chance is 35% and has an internal cd of 35 secs. In practice this means that the haste buff is up about 25% of the time giving an average of 62-63 haste during a suitable long fight.
Now compared to the normal Enchant Weapon - Mighty Spellpower the Black Magic should actually be better (63*1.77~112) <(63*1.95~123).
Worth noting is that as with any other ability with a proc chance you can't rely on it to be up the best possible moment (when you got a 10 sec. window of pure nuking) and it might proc right when you are about to move away from Malleable Goo.

I haven't tried it out myself yet but if anyone could confirm or reject that Black Magic is actually giving better results than the standard 1H Spell Power enchant please comment.

N.B. If you got a staff use Enchant Staff - Greater Spellpower ofc.
I enchanted one Dalaran Dagger with mighty spellpower and one with black magic and tested them several times on target dummies and mighty sp always came out on top. Don't know if Black Magic benefits you more though with the full raid haste buffs or not compared to mighty spellpower.

For most people, you should start to use HB as soon as you can hit more than one target with the spell. Likewise, diseases should always be kept up on as many targets as possible. Death and Decay is a little more tricky. From what I can tell, it looks like you should begin to use DnD when there are more than three targets that it can hit (and assuming they're last for the duration).

The massive amount of spellpower you lose from not using a real weapon is probably a large contributor to your results. There's also no telling whether or not Black Magic's proc screwed you up and had you doing less than its potential. Even assuming you played perfectly, RNG is still a large factor. How long did you do this and what was the DPS difference?

Ah, thanks. I never used bombs enough while messing with them in general, or while in WG to actually notice they were off the GCD. I'll have to look into that now...
On a side note, I tried adding the Trueshot Aura glyph into my glyphs, and it did give me a dps upgrade, though only about 30ish-DPS. I get the feeling that it would be more useful to me once I was able to get closer to the ArP cap so that I could actually be stacking ArP instead of AGI. As it stands, I have a hard time convincing myself to swap out the Kill Shot glyph until that point. I know the TSA glyph is a straight, full-time buff for the fight, but with half of my groups we might benefit more from bigger Kill Shot crits in the 20% crunch-time on bosses, as we tend to still struggle a bit with some of the more difficult ICC fights (10man; 25man is another matter entirely >_<)

And sadly enough, while typing all of that, it occurred to me how much that sounded like an excuse... I might give the TSA glyph a try, but I'd personally like to hold out til I can acquire some more ArP.

The stat values are depending on full ilvl 245+ gearing and the gray item used in your case massively reduces your spell power. So if you calculted the stat values for your gear at that point SP would be very likely to beat haste.

This is my first time posting, so if this is in the wrong place, I do apologize.

If clipping the 5th missile with ABarr is no longer going to give you a dps boost, why even have it as a talent? Could that point be used for something else more useful? I understand that it is good for when you have to move, and it will proc MB. But is it truly worth taking?

My other question is about rotation. With a t10 4p, should rotation be 234AM or 4AM? I have not been doing well with dps, and am trying to figure out exactly what my problem is. I have been reading past posts, but wading through all the chatter to find the information I need, has only made me more confused than anything.

Sure if it's BiS? No I am not... But is it good? Hell yes. When I first picked this weapon up, the procc only worked group-wide and also did I not have my 4-set bonus yet, basically it was lousy. I took it for the spellpower and the hopes that the procc would be improved upon. It was... the procc is now raid-wide and seems to occur more frequently (several times per minute actually) with 4-set T10. On Sindriagosa 25 I have experienced Trauma's procc to supply up to 8.5% of my total healing in some attempts (when it proccs on a raidwide dmg event it's simply beautiful and amounts to over 5k HPS on its own) - averaging around 5%. I love how it fills my screen with happy green numbers, and can't imagine 50-60'ish haste and crit can supply that high an increase in any 25 man scenario - but I shall look forward to some number crunching based on its new mechanics.
