I see a lot of talk about tanking at 80, but I can't find any good suggestions on rotations/specs/etc. for a beginning DK tank.
|
Choose main talent tree depending what you played before 60. First spec 5/5 Anticipation and 3/3 Morbidity for 15 sec DnD and glyph DnD. The rest of talents in the tree of your choice from any 80's tank builds.
On trash drop DnD, then work hard to keep mobs on you. If possible keeping both diseases, but if mobs die fast, don't bother - just hit hard changing targets.
On boss keep both diseases and hit hard.
Not quite a difference from tanking on 80, because you already have most skills and cooldowns.

Mh maybe I got it wrong, and I wait until the death runes from the second DS come back and use them for HS and wait for the F and U runes from the last HSs to come back to refresh IT/PS. But I figure u would need some haste for this. Iam confused now..
Actually Iam not playing by a set rotation, but I tried to express that I feel like I loose dps when I use death runes for IT/PS... Maybe I should run a keylogger to figure it out which buttons I hammer...

Replacing my Waist
I have a quick question regarding a potential belt/waist item that I am getting ready to pick up. I was going to get the Malevolent Girdle, item level 264. The stats are:
121 Strength
137 Stamina
60 Hit Rating
83 Crit
One Blue/One Red Socket +One socket from eternal belt buckle. I am a JC and only have room for one Bold Dragonseye (34 Str), so the total AP for this belt is 390. (Includes two 20 Str gems + one 34 Str gem)
Someone jumped on a forum and stated that I should go for the mail option, Band of the Night Raven, while stating that it is a "substantial increase in dps". The stats are as follows:
161 AP
95 Stam
47 Hit Rating
80 Crit
63 Intel
104 Agility
Two Yellow Sockets + One socket from eternal belt buckle. Total AP is 309
You gain 1% melee crit for every 52.08 agility (so there is a + approx. 2% crit increase with the Band of the Night Raven)
After crunching the numbers, the Malevolent Girdle has
+81 AP
+13 Hit Rating
+3 Crit (-104 agility)
+Armor
+Stamina
-Intel
I am a little confused why he would say that this is a "substantial increase in dps" when you would be basically exchanging 81 AP for 2% crit. Am I missing somthing? Any feedback is appreciated.

Recently I have been receiving positive feedback and interest with my most recent UI setup from people I've shared it with, so I figured id throw it out here for you guys to see if anyone else can find any interest or ideas from it.
Raid combat
OOC with bars showing
There are still a few things I'm working to tweak, but overall I find it to be very informative for my buffs, procs, cooldowns, debuffs, while maintaining a clean and reasonably minimalistic setup allowing a large field of view.
Primary Addons
Bartender Actionbar addon with a majority of bars hidden with keybinds, only the main bar and my "consumables" bars are shown
Pitbull4 Unit frame addon for player, target, focus, Target of target, and focus's target. Focus target is set to just a line of text showing the name in the center of my player frame to as it is primarily for a specific TOTT target.
Grid Raid frame addon I use in conjunction with Clique. I like this because it is very neat and imformative for raid debuffs, agro and with Clique i just ctrl right click if I need to tricks someone else.
Elk Buff Bars Buffmod that shows all the buffs/debuffs my screenshot shows being tracked, except for SND/HFB tracker. I like this because it is very easy to set as many lists with their own settings to be positioned as desired. The list under the player frame just tracks stuff like trinket procs, envenom, bf, ar, overkill, weapon procs, etc. The bar under the target frame on the left side shows sunder/Expose, and there would be another list to the right of that for rupture, garrote, cc's, etc if being used. I also set a seperate list for all "timeless" buffs on the upper left for an easier tracking of totems/auras. I also use a small bar above the cooldown timer to show essential debuffs and buffs that may take priority (like the ones on sindragosa, BOP's, Tricks, hysteria, etc)
Fortexorcist I use this because I like the look of the cooldown timer and I also use it to track my SND/HFB/evenom. EBB Could track those buffs, but I just like the way forte looks when only tracking a few things
Kgpanels This is the addon that shows all the boxes around my frames, as well as the bar on the bottom left. I use Caith border textures. This addon is also pretty neat because that bar on the bottom can be clicked in a few sections to show all action bars, hide/unhide damage meter + panels, minimap + sidebar (where i have random toys and professions I wouldnt use during a fight, but still want easily accessible)
pminimap minimalistic minimap addon
omnicc shows cooldowns on action bars with slightly customizable displays
chatter Chat addon
Skada Essentially a damage meter addon, but you can have multiple windows with a few extra options that Recount hasn't had since I last used it. On my rogue the top window is damage, and the bottom is threat, replacing Omen.
databroker These are a library of plugins similar to fubar plugins but much more customizable and open. So far every addon that I would want to have a quick plugin for is detected with ease. You need some sort of "dock" to use for these, which also allows for even more customization than Fubar/titan panel.
dockingstation The bar I use for databroker addons. This gives me a more graphical, but still efficient way of seeing useful pieces of information. I have 3 hidden bars: 1) is identicle to a typical fubar bar that shows guild, friend, money, durability, clock, volume, etc 2) docks all my addons to one mouse over bar for quick customization 3) mouse over bar for equipment manager sets and fast talent swaps. The only bar shown at all times is the bar on the bottom that shows FPS, lat, and memory usage w/o taking up needed space.
DeadlyBossMods Everyone knows what this is, a must have category of addon for PVE
Trick or Treat Informative addon that will automaticaly whisper your TOTT target ONCE ACTIVATED, and then gives them a message with how much damage the buff added to them as well as threat warning if they happen to be high on threat while active. It provides no annoying spam if they're out of range or not enough energy. (warning: a few have ignored me just because of the damage message, but those are usually random pubs who dont understand us rogues )
Trinket Menu Small and movable trinket display. It allows for quick swapping of trinkets and its own keybind options so that you do not need to take up action bars.
Minimap Button Frame Small menu that you can right click to expand all your mini map buttons to keep a clean look when you do not need them.
Quartz Cast bar addon that is very customizable. I use player, target, and focus bars above my player/target frames.
ButtonFacade Just an addon to provide skins to very addons like bartender, Satrina buff frames, trinket menu, etc
Tidy Plates Replacement name plate addon that I like.
Tip Top Tooltip addon that shows specs, target of mousover, health etc.
I'm always adding to and changing my UI after browsing forums like these, or looking through the compilations on wowinterface.
Most recently I came across CoehlUI on wow interface and pulled out the pitbull profile (though configured to my liking), minimap, and kgpanels textures/scripts that I am using.

Can anyone explain to me why this is a fact? If you would convert the STR properly into attackpower following retri pala default talents (15% STR) you should get far more Attack Power then the Agility Ring holds, for instance the revered STR ring holds 98 STR so first multiply it by 1.15 and then mulitiply by 2. This would give 225,4 Attack Power while the Agility ring only gives 123 Attack Power. All the other stats on the ring except for the stamina (wich is more on the str ring) are the same.
Thanks in advance,

I was wondering about the Glyph of Earthliving Weapon. Is it really 5% more of 20%, meaning 21%, or is it 20+5=25% ? I'm testing the glyph with Trauma, since it's a way to increase the number of tics from our spells, and I made some research on the net, it seems to be 25% and not 21% (which is only logical following the description of the glyph).

|
Even 3% seems to be better than a crit/haste weapon. Using Zorick's report in the shaman_hep thread, 2.88% means 300 ehps. There's no way 60 crit + 60 haste for example can compare : using the same report, 60*0.25 + 60*1.6 = 111 ehps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but once the proc is over 1.5% (roughly), Trauma seems to be better than a regular main hand.

Good afternoon
Respected Shandara it would be desirable there was a question why for example in the calculator there is no data on such subjects Oathbinder, Charge of the Ranger-General and Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas. And whether still it is possible to translate the given calculator into Russian, it would be desirable to talk about it to you.
Yours faithfully

I suppose the extra crit from the agility ring outweighs the extra attack power on the strength ring.

As of right now very small tweaks are to be made to account for my being an orc and having the racial available to me; basically two gems. The research that I've done into changing professions and race has little to no bearing on actual gear choices, only gemming and projected DPS total. If you can show me a significant change in gear from race to race and profession to profession then I would be more inclined to adjust the list.

I also run a few tests based on diferent races/professions and can also say that the major changes will happen on gemming.

I currently have (4) T9.5 gear.
I have 140 Frost emblems and was looking to get (2) pieces of T10 Gear. I was going to get the Shoulders and Hands since they are the cheapest @ only 60 Emblems each. According to Rawr getting these two items would be a dps loss of around 200dps over my existing gear. Can someone please explain? Should I wait to get like a head and gloves?

It depends on his spec... If he's mutilate, penArm is not interesting, if he's combat spec, he's wrong, PenArm is strong, except if he has the mjolnir runestone, and already has the softcap PenArm... then he have to wait for a new trinket to regemming PenArm to rich the hard cap PenArm 1400.

Sorry but could you elaborate more on how to do this exactly? Where is the option to unhide the weapons tab on XL?
@ Aldriana: Also, I remember when your spreadsheet was still in the 1.3.1 - 1.3.2 stages and we were discussing BiS setups you had said that your final setup was unknown still due to the fact that LK's loot tables weren't released to the public yet. Now that they have been finalized, I was wondering if you had compiled a list of a certain BiS setup that have the smaller intricacies covered and yield the absolute maximum dps possible in 3.3 content?
For Example:
Gemming
Fast/Slow vs. Slow/Fast
Poison Combinations
Berserking vs. Mongoose
etc.
By no means am I asking you for it, it's just a simple yes or no question. Thanks
