I was thinking of how to best divide healing in our 10s with paladin, priest, shaman and I wasn't liking any of the combinations.
First and most obvious was me holy and Shamn as tank back-up, raid healing. But I started to think, never a good sign, that I could play disc and leave shaman to care about the raid. With shields preventing infest and having better tank heals that was starting to look like a good idea to me.
But then I asked myself, why not both? Meaning why don't I spec 'disc' and stay holy at the same time:
I present to you this idea:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Lets discuss the trade-offs and why I don't think this is the worst idea ever.
What I gain:
- Disc shields call this A = "Gaining Disc-power-shields" + infest problem solved
- Mental Agility (10% instant spell cost)(renew love and less tide QQ)
- if you swap any 1 point in holy into 2nd point of Body&Soul, you are affetively giving sprint to anyone you shield - just for the 'lol' factor this is pure win.
What I give up:
- Wings - call this B = "Giving up all utilities associated with wings". Anytime you consider giving example of how good wings to have is, I'd say that you can find 5 times more examples of where having disc-shields + coh would end up more in the end. The rest of the trade-offs between my main holy spec and 'this' spec, I consider negligible.
- Serendipity - well I was trying to think of a way to give up this anyhow, these days I rarely use the proc
- 1 sec extra on mending CD (napkin math), not the end of the world, unless we are talking Twins or BQ, I refresh mending on CD, so I end up 'wasting' the last few potential jumps anyhow
- 4% healing on CoH and Mending - well considering that CoH runs ~70% over-healing for me, I think this wouldn't hurt all that much
I think is worth a shot and will be trying it today in our 10s.

R - This is a Holy spec with shields, not a disc-spec with holy talents.
